When learning guitar, that along with sore fingers is one of the major issues.  Keep on with the weight that you like the best sound from, experiment with those textured picks, and eventually... you'll get to the point where you don't drop em (and you're fingers are nicely calloused).  It's a part of the process.  Some people will even punch holes in the picks to make their favorite easier to hold on to.

Very cool Russ!  I knew you had some good secrets about the past hiding away.  wink  Looks like you guys might have even had a few groupies.  Cool pic!

And as it turns out this guy never even came back after posting.  What's up with that?  time for a drink Roger!

wire cutters/needle nose pliers... hand string winder... chamios... string cleaner... truss rod wrench... mm measurement devices... extra saddles and pins.  I keep my strings and electric string winder in a different place because we all share the "tool box" but the boys don't like my strings or winder.  wink

You'll need acoustics in different sizes and woods.  smile  If I count up all the guitars in this house, I believe there are 8.  2 are electric.  wink

It'll be a good chance to see if my tablet will work with skype groups or not.  smile  I'll be there barring any issues!

Always, but it's due to laziness and lack of desire to practice and force myself to learn new chords more often than not.

Snark Rocks!  In a pinch (like generally if I don't have my guitar/tuner on me but need to tune someone else's guitar) I will use the android app gStrings.  It works pretty well, and it's a free app to download, but the snark is awesome for "on guitar" tuning, plus it doesn't have to be quiet in the room to work as it works on vibrations not sounds!  smile

Be careful, if you come here too much they'll make you a mod.  LOL!  Just kidding (kinda tongue I love my "job").  Welcome to chordie!  I was lucky enough to find Chordie and the great folks here at the very beginning of my guitar journey, and I won't ever leave.  GREAT people here!

WAYNE!  Thank Lizzie for doing the recordings!  Amazing.  Again, Jealousy is my name.  I so wish I'd have been there, it looks like you guys had an AMAZING time!  smile  Fantastic!

The more expensive coated strings don't "squeak", and they last longer.  So, they are worth the money in my opinion.  My husband hates playing on my guitar as I use those strings.  He LIKES the squeak!  wink

Buddy Holly, you'll likely get a better answer by starting your own thread with the question.  Adding a new song request to a previously answered post won't get too many looks.  I did do a google search and came up empty though (apparently Eve 6, Celine, and Dylan's songs with the same title are readily found.)

That's how it starts.  Stay away from the guitar stores, or surely you will end up with a SEVERE case of G.A.S. - although, you could be like me and end up with a nice Martin too.  wink

Too bad, the facebook version plays much better than the youtube version does.  You guys sound AWESOME by the way.  I think I can hear Wayne's distinctive playing (is he doing the picking???), Zurf's, Paul's for sure (super multi finger man), and maybe even Jeff's.  Toney's easy to follow since the camera is pointing directly at him.  Very nice job guys!  Did anyone video at Toney's take-over gig?

I could be wrong, but I think he wants the intro to the song... and somehow with a specific program.  This section of the forum is for song requests.  Members can help you out, but you will need to be a bit more clear in what you want.  If it's for help with a specific program, I suggest contacting the maker of that program.

Jeff, please give Paul a kiss on the cheek for me. ;-) wish I was there.

Waking up covered in kids.  Sure sure, I complain about my bed being taken over sometimes... but really there's something pretty special about waking up with little people snuggled into me warming my sheets.  smile

I agree Dino!  People always say that this site's forum isn't like others.  It's so true, especially when you take a look at the other side.  People out there can be rude and pushy and have attitudes about how awesome they or their instruments are.  I LOVE Chordie!

It's different, and I like different!  I hope you have a great time DE!!!!

It is quite interesting info!  Thanks for sharing.

Don't worry Fire Art - I can see that you have been here a lot lately... in a couple years you'll no doubt make the prolific poster list with me.  wink

I could post the gif up online so folks can just download it, rather than emailing it out to everyone.  We need Zurf to TRY one out first though, to make sure the graphic is going to work well on transfer paper.  wink  Just let me know if you used the bmp, or the gif, when it's good and I'll put it somewhere for the taking for all of those unable to make it.  smile

Absolutely less scary than playing in person at an open mic.  Give skype a try.  Another thing you can do is to record in front of a camera and throw it up on youtube... skype is easier than that.  smile

The good and the bad.  I hope that medicine works for you, and doesn't come with many of the side effects of traditional chemo.  I firmly believe that keeping a positive attitude makes a HUGE difference... so go kick it's butt!

If I remember correctly, that's the type of string that came with my classical.  Keep an eye on that G-string.  Mine frayed pretty quickly on me, but yes, I do think they sounded pretty nice!!!
