Honestly... I liked yours better than the original - I couldn't bear 30 seconds of that. To each his own I guess

These are baaad, but I laughed anyway.

I've just come out of the shop with a meat and potato pie, large chips, some pudding and a pie.  A poor, homeless man sat there and said "I've not eaten for two days."  I told him, "I wish I had your freaking willpower."

A fat girl served me food in McDonalds at a busy lunch time.  She said "sorry about the wait."  I said "don't worry fatty, you're bound to lose it eventually."

Hate to hear that NELA - As you know there are a lot of less than scrupulous companies in our industry. Do you mind naming the GC so I and others know to avoid them in the future?

2 very cool stories hdorange and huspat! I'm glad this this thread brought you out of the closet hdorange (I see you've been a member for some time, but this is your first post). I would like to welcome both of you to the Chordie forum!

I thought of another one I've been playing over the summer - a classic 3 chord sing-a-along

Don't know how I missed this thread - Happy NGD naolslager!

I played guitar a bit as a kid, took about a years of lessons, but like most kids could not commit to practice when other kids were outside having fun. Fast Forward 35 years and one day I'm in the step-daughters room fixing her ceiling fan and spotted the beginner Yamaha collecting dust in the corner (a guitar she had to have because some boy she had a crush on played). So, I ask her if I can borrow it.

That was 3-1/2 years ago and I probably have missed less than a dozen days playing a guitar since. With the abundance of resources on the internet and the encouragement of friends here at chordie, I just about have the G, C and D chords down pat.

Welcome to chordie par4 - If you'd spend a bit of time reading and researching, you would find that chordie is a search engine specialising on chopro-files. As most other search engines, it does not host any of the indexed files. Chordie does not exercise any editorial control over the information users may find at these locations and is neither associated with nor responsible for the content on these sites. (from resources tab)

If you find a better version of a song, you can request that it be added to the chordie database here:

zguitar - I keep a spreadsheet based upon the mileage shown on the google map - it shows 72,449 miles to date (through aquacash). I know there are chordie members from throughout the globe, but truly a small percentage of users visit the forum. I agree, it would be cool to see the package visit some more exotic locations!

No Jeff, that's the Appalachians.  Some of the other pictures in my Facebook panorama album were taken in Alaska.

OK - I see some of the comments were on earlier photos. Glad to know, I was thinking it strange how similar Alaska looked to my mountains. smile

Great shots Zurf - Gotta love the Appalachians in the fall

DOH - now I see on FB these are Alaska!

Queens "39" - from wiki:

The song's lyrics are a science fiction short story which concerns twenty volunteers who leave a dying Earth on a spaceship in search of new worlds to settle. They return to report success, 100 calendar years later, with only a single year passing from the volunteers' perspective (due to time dilation). The lyrics imply that the song's protagonist faces his child upon return to Earth: For so many years have gone/though I'm older but a year/your mother's eyes from your eyes/cry to me. This, and the fact that all his peers and friends have died, are a terrible grief to the protagonist, as the final words insist: For my life/still ahead/pity me!

To provide 100 years' time dilation on Earth in only one year of spaceship time, the velocity of the spaceship must average to 99.995% of the speed of light.

Brian May described the song as follows:

It's a science fiction story. It's the story about someone who goes away and leaves his family and... because of the time dilation effect, when you go away, the people on Earth have aged a lot more than he has when he comes home. He's aged a year and they've aged 100 years. So, instead of coming back to his wife, he comes back to his daughter and he can see his wife in his daughter... a strange story. I think, also, I had in mind a story of Hermann Hesse, which I think is called "The River" [actually "The Poet" [1]]. A man leaves his hometown and has lots of travels and then comes back and observes his hometown from the other side of the river. He sees it in a different light, having been away and experienced all those different things. He sees it in a very illuminating way, 'cause I felt a little bit like that about my home at the time as well, having been away and seen this vastly different world of rock music... totally different from the way I was brought up, and I had those feelings about home.

Hi painkiller and welcome to the chordie forum!

I use firefox browser and you can set print margins in FF by going to File / Page Setup / Margins and Header..

I'd imagine there are similar settings in IE and other browsers

Thanks, Tops my rhythm guitar is passable but my lead playing sounds like a car wreck.
I dug up the lyrics to "Stand By Me" and "Stay" (just a little bit longer) to have some simple four chord tunes to jam. I also have a medley of "Shake it up Baby" and "La Bamba" in three chords. Gonna pass a good time, cher.

Toots - If you can, send a link or pdf file of the tunes so I / we can prepare! These all sound like fun tunes! I gotta find my hi pitch "Oh won't you stay...."
