A little on the low side, volume-wise, but I had your song open in another window so I could follow along. Sounds great! Keep up the good work! smile

I'm at a complete standstill and I don't know how to help it.

I've been doing legit research on this train wreck and I've called the song "The Cigarette Train". Only now I am finding out that the Bull Durham company only made smoking tobacco at that time and it wasn't until they were bought up by The American Tobacco Company that cigarettes were actually produced and that was way after the wreck - 1906 or so.

That's one thing.

The other thing is I'm a retired respiratory therapist. What the heck am I doing writing a song about a train wreck and spilled tobacco which led to people learning to smoke.

One other thing.

The American Tobacco Company was one of the biggest violators of using child labor which led to the Federal Child Labor Laws of 1916.

So....... I guess I'll have to let the facts go and completely fictionalize the song. That means a total rewrite.

Thanks

What program are you using to set up your chords and everything, Phill? I can't seem to get it right.

Everyone in war thinks they have God on their side, so that makes them religious wars and yes, they're never-ending.

Can y'all not post your own stuff to the whatchamacallit (that word we're not supposed to say because it doesn't belong to us and stuff)? You know that ....... list? I kept looking for Phill's song there, because I wanted to play around with the transposition engine, but could never find it.

So if I wanted to transpose his song into another key, how would I do it, if it doesn't appear........ you know, there?

I tried to play a rezzie when I was about 15 and was learning my first E chord. That thing was so heavy, I believe it had a steel body, but I sure love that sound. Nothing like it and you play it well, Graham. Loved both tunes and left notes.

Any of you guys or ladies ever leave the E string long and stick your cigarette on the end?

Come on, you can tell your ol' pal Bill. I won't spread it around! wink

Amy,

Same way in Germany (about the ice, I mean). You ask for ice there, you get it in half inch squares, not crushed. If you go back, you get a look like, "I just 3 minutes ago GAVE you some ice! Ya think I'm the ice fairy, or something?"

At least the beer is cold - for a while.

Beautifully written, my friend and looks easily played as well. How you can churn them out like you do just flabbers my gast, Phill.

I need to get back into it anyway, Graham. Let me work on it and maybe you can take a look at my chords and see what else you can help me with when you come back and have time. Would that be okay, I hope?

Safe Journey, Gray One. wink

Not a good day all the way around for "The German Boy", but that's what tomorrows are for, right, friends? smile smile smile
