Exact same chord. It's like playing an open d vs playing a d in the e barre chord shape on the 10th fret. Same notes, just in different places.

And mute the low e string. Zurf, my brother in bald moderation, is spot on.

Verse is :
I Isus  IV  I
I IV I V I

Bridge is
vi   I
vi   I
then I think
IV V
IV V I

but I was kinda distracted.

Also thicker strings are under more tension at a given pitch so you need to fret them harder. Also more resistence on string bends.

I was raised in the midwest and thought I'd crave the crap outta some meat, but turns out to not be the case. I'll add back fish later this year. I intend to start lifting heavy again in November so I'll def. need the protein. Thanks for the support all!

After I hit my bench press goal it was time to start taking weight off. I did low carb, low cal, paleo, south beach, etc. Tried them all and the fat was just so sticky - couldn't get it off me! At the urging (with the help of a little bet) from a good friend, I decided to do 60 days of veganism. No meat, no dairy, no fish. Nothing that is made from a being that ever had a pulse. (Including butter and broth.)

Given those restrictions, I've been eating like an absolute pig. I am doing absolutely no portion control whatsoever and I eat whatever I want, whenever I want, so long as it isn't from an animal.  I could tell after the first few days that my body was changing. I have ignored the scale because I don't want to pressure myself. So I've just been livin' vegan for three weeks. Still drinking beers. No exercise other than walking the puppy.

On Sunday I noticed that a shirt seemed way too big for me. This AM I noticed that a pair of khakis was enormous on me. I stopped by the gym for a weigh in and measurements.

In 3 weeks I've lost 3 inches, 23 pounds, and my resting pulse has gone from 95+ to the high 60's, low 70's. I have had almost no meat cravings. I wake up more alert and ready for my day than I ever have. I've also cut out sweeteners, anything artificial, and refined flours. (Although these don't violate veganism since the diet change was so easy I just figured what the heck?) I stuff my face all day and the weight is just falling off. No noticeable reduction in muscle volume, stamina, or anaerobic performance.

This is quite literally the easiest dietary change I've ever done. I'm really happy with the results so far and can't wait to see what the next 5 weeks have in store!

The vibrations def get lost. The glue doesn't transfer sound as well as a big nice piece of wood does.

IF you want to make your sight reading skills rock, learn to transpose from chord name to chord position/number. In other words when I see G-D-C I think I-V-IV. That makes it really easy to transpose in my head. Takes some time learning though, particularly if you see

G - Em7 - A7 - D - F - G

...or something like that. smile

Are you leaving it plugged in?

No offense to original poster, but Zurf is correct. Drop D refers to tuning to standared E and dropping the low E to D. OP is talking about just tuning down a whole step. Detuning 1/2 step is no big deal; I tune all my guitars to Eb to reduce string tension b/c I like enormous string bends on heavy gauge strings. Try a whole step but you might have trouble with the guitar fretting out and/or the strings hitting one another. But try it and if it works and sounds good, go for it! If you're committed to tuning down a whole step, take it to a tech and have him or her set the action to allow for the lower tension and larger arc on the strings during vibration.

That's true too on the hand touch. OP should post pictures of his playing position.

Amen Beamer. How do you play...sitting up? Standing down? Guitar slung high? Guitar slung low? The low "Zak Wylde" style of playing is a great way to blow your wrist out. sad

Nope, not a typo! This weekend was new puppy day for me. The ex is going to keep my other dogs and a home just isn't a home without a furry critter running around so I got a border collie puppy this weekend!

I drove from Vegas to Bakersfield to pick her up (which totally sucked, BTW) - and back the same night.

Since they're Scottish/English dogs I named her The Loch Ness Monster, but I think I'm just going to call her Nessie. She comes from fantastic working dog lines and seems to be a genius - she's responding well to training and understood sit, down, stand, up, and "house" (for going to her crate) in the first day!

She's currently sleeping in my lap while I work away at the office.

Pics forthcoming.

I find that V shaped necks give me a better grip for string bending. I like a deeper neck. Just me though. smile

This is really great. One sentence really stuck out for me: Santana, at the very end, said something like "not everyone can do this. Guitar is really hard."

Never really thought of it that way. I love playing and love practicing, but thinking about it, yeah I guess it is kind of hard as well, huh?
