Ha! I often use that picture.

My missus and I have watched CG so much, we use quotes and memes from it as shorthand in conversation...

D'ya ever read ?

Man, that sounds like a lotta fun!

I'll be in Pittsburgh for about 5 or 6 days at the end of this month - alas, that will use up my travel budget for the rest of the year... perhaps next time.

Nicely done.

Glad you changed "throw up problems" to "throw out problems" in the last verse - I was gonna suggest "throw us" after I'd read it, before I listened to it...

Wish the vox were a little louder, though.

I say this having only listened on my ipad - I'll probably get better sound on my computer...

Funster - are you a hockey fan (almost a sacriligious question to ask a Canadian, but there are the odd few who don't, after all)? If so, do you follow or read Spectorshockey.net ? "Spector" is an old pal of mine, Lyle Richardson, who lives in Charlottetown, PEI, with his lovely wife... (I'm not asking if you know Lyle, just if you're familiar with the site)

(This kind of question was covered in the Corner Gas episode An American in Saskatchewan, if you've ever seen that one. And no, I'm not suggesting that every Canadian watched Corner Gas, too... big_smile  )

Thanks, all !

Roger is right about my initial reticence - some boards are kinda insular (not that I thought that of yunz), and I was primarily trying to be polite and not to "stick my nose where it ain't wanted," if you can understand how I might feel about that - you'll notice that in many of the threads I commented, there was either no response to my comment (though there was to other comments posted after mine), or mine ended up being the threadkiller.

All that said, thanks for the welcome, and I'm glad to be here! I will post up a little bio, and maybe some music (once I figger out some things)...

Cheers,

Cocktailsfor2

P.S. - most folks just refer to me as Cocktails, or 'tails...

Indeed, Happy Canada Day!

I have Canadian friends (and now, another in Tenement Funster, I hope!), and I've truly envied them and their "Canadian way of life," for lack of a better way of putting it.

I've always enjoyed the time I've spent there, and often wished I were able to emigrate.

(also - GO HABS GO!!!)(also also - I'm a HUGE Corner Gas fan!)

Subject to a successful review, SRL Networks will get your music heard by entertainment industry professionals and fans all over the world, and help facilitate music licensing and distribution deals, live events bookings, record label/music publisher deals and more. You will receive a detailed agreement once your music is accepted.

"Subject to a successful review and totally NOT a fee of a hundred bucks or anything " is how that stuff usually goes.

You might take a look at their facebook page to get more of an idea, but like the others, my initial reaction is to walk and don't look back.

Probably my favorite Chris Squire feature piece, which gives him a least a 5-minute showcase with his Rickenbacker (beginning at around the 2:45 mark), playing it in a way no one else has ever seemed to match. It's hard to conceive that any of the YES repertoire (if they do continue) will ever sound the same without him. Thank goodness for YouTube, MP3's, etc.!

Thank-you Mr. Squire for many years of great music.

Very good choice, Funster!

(Seems to me, though, that his part in this version starts to run to the "wheedla, wheedla" in some bits. Just my $0.02)

As far as YES continuing w/o Squire (emphasis mine above), that's anybody's guess - as mentioned in the Rolling Stone article I linked in the OP on the other thread, this summer tour marks the first time YES will perform without the large London native (and oh, yeah, he was a big fella - I ran into him at a NAMM show once):

In May, Squire revealed that he was recently diagnosed with acute erythroid leukemia, which would force him to miss the band's summer co-headlining tour with Toto. The absence marked the first time in the band's history that Yes performed without their longtime bassist.

"This will be the first time since the band formed in 1968 that Yes will have performed live without me," Squire said in a statement. "But the other guys and myself have agreed that Billy Sherwood will do an excellent job of covering my parts and the show as a whole will deliver the same Yes experience that our fans have come to expect over the years."

Guess it's time to pull out my copy of Fish Out of Water...

P.S. - if you get a chance to read his Wikipedia bio, note his quote about the oft-maligned and fan-polarising Tales from Topographic Oceans. (Guess it's time to revisit that one, too!)

RATS.

R.I.P. Chris Squire, the bass-playing founding member of YES has passed away from a rare form of leukemia at the age of 67.

Here is the notice from Rolling Stone

And from The Guardian

Squire's own website, chrissquire.com , has not announced it yet, but the site is being deluged with people trying to see if there is any information - it is taking a super long time to load.

Squire was a HUGE influence on bass players world wide, and a favourite of mine, as well - hours upon hours spent listening to his Rickenbacker soaring through YES tunes like this one Long Distance Runaround (and that's him doing the realllllly high bg vocals, as well!)

This video is the isolated bass track to YES' popular song Roundabout - you should definitely take a listen to this if you haven't ever done so before: Solo Bass Track

Note to mods: If this is posted in the wrong area, please move it to the appropriate place, and I'm sorry if it's not where it should be.

You're probably right.

Plus, at my age it'd just be "one more thing" (or two) to have to keep track of... heh...
