Mojo, Great song. I love originals. I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. Guitar work was real nice and vocals fit right in. Love it.

I never named my guitars. I usually call them by the model number. Maybe that counts.

Amy, I did name a couple of my computers but I can't repeat those names.

Phil, nice song and you performed it really well. So many thoughts went thru my head as I was listening. I understand Graham's country comment because I was thinking Rock-a-billy. But I first heard a Roy Obison kind of vocal than I could almost hear John Lennon singing it. Then I thought what if Keith Richards did it . I'd love to hear Keith's version. Love it.

Nela, I have been in your situation. When you get put on the spot ,there are times you don't know what to do. I have Martins and Taylors that I bought because they are what I wanted and I wanted to play. Even though they are mine I still "Baby" them because I want them around a long time. I have respect for my guitars and everyone else's. I have let close friends play mine as they have let me play theirs, But I know they respect me and mine. These are close friends. Not everyone shares that opinion. I have turned down some people in the past. How you say No is sometimes hard to do or hard to figure out how. I still haven't totally got it worked out either. Most times I say " I don't generally let others play my guitars". It gets some people worked up and some really get angry , But that's too bad. The end result is what you are comfortable with, not anyone else. I'm on your side though. Good luck.

Gil, I love this song . Very well written and performed. I've seen your other videos and enjoyed them all. But I have to say, this is the best. Your feelings came out and you connected with it. WOW,WOW,WOW . I love it. I'll be playing this one a few times more for sure. As a songwriter I love original material. Keep up the great work.

Dude, Thanks for the info on who own's who. I knew they were both a part of each other, didn't know complete story.
This is why I like Chordie so much. There aren't many answers you can't find here.
Thanks.

Amy, right on about the tuning and models. Lately a lot worse than when they first came on the scene. Doug , I'd like to find a local place like Troubadors. Looks very interesting.
I used to know most of the people at the local GC by name and they new me, not so for at least the last 4-5 years. I wonder if Musicians Friend, being the parent company of GC is in the same $$ mess that GC is ?

Jerome, I totally agree with you on the way GC takes care of acoustics. I was in their acoustic room one day and the temp. was about 90. You couldn't stay in there for more than a couple minutes. What does that do to guitars. That's only one of the things I've seen. But when you read the Forbes article you start to understand why the employees don't have much dedication.
This is just going to help out the small guys.

I have made a few major purchases there a while ago, it's less now. Less recognizable faces than when I started. Great Article in Forbes . Answers a lot of questions.  I have been doing more with  smaller shops lately.

Anyone been to Guitar Center lately and notice how the instore stock in a lot less ? Lots of empty space in my local store. I had heard rumors the GC is in financial trouble and may be closing or just closing some stores. Anyone else seen this or know of the what I've heard ?

My wife is very supportive when I purchase a new guitar. She is with me many times when I do buy. She critiques the sound for me. Many times I buy them to use for gigs or recording and they come from my special stash of cash. We were just looking at a Taylor GA6 12 string. She was willing to help cover what I didn't have in my stash. She's a keeper.

I had to bring out my Vol. 1 Cd and play it again. Forgot how good that CD is . Thanks for the reminder Bill.

Happy NGD. A friend in Wyoming purchased one  and I got to play it. Way more Bling than my D-41.  Enjoy your new friend.

Bill,  No apology needed , but thanks . I can't wait to hear what you'll find in your investigation. Sometimes in your songs you will need to stray somewhat from the truth. Sometimes you need to make up the whole thing if you can't find the true story you are looking for. Either way the title is Killer. My friend told me once " Do you think Johnny Cash really shot a man in Reno". Have fun with this.

    Joe

I have been told that I sound like Don Williams. I only wish I did. I was happy to hear it. A friend of mine did a CD and I told him one song sounded like Tom Petty  and another his guitar work sounded like Carlos Santana. He was also happy to be connected with them. I always thought if you were compared to someone known then those people enjoy what you do. No matter what I just keep plugging along.

   Joe

JJJ, Happy NGD. Enjoy the journey, new found friends are around every corner. Not just the stringed type either. They look great . Enjoy.

Mojo,  I agree with Bill. The " Hook" is what draws people into the song. It's snappy, catchy, easy to remember and sticks in your head. I  have  the same questions about why some of my less favorite songs are liked but the better ones are not. It's about what other people connect to in your songs. No two people think exactly the same, you just seemed to hit a spot with one song or another. It's like when you are playing a gig and you get requests for songs that are all over the board or by folks you never heard of.
But, they do connect to your songs and that's good. It just goes to show the ones you don't think aren't very good are good to someone else. Keep writing , that's the only way a real Gem with surface.

I own 2 of each. My next will be another Taylor. I like the woods Taylor uses and to me the neck feels much better.
I like the ease of changing batteries on the Taylor. Tone wise Taylors seem much more alive.
That's only my opinion on the new lower grade Martins. But you play them all and pick the one you feel suits you best. Enjoy the search.
