An experiment for me with a hard rock (acoustic version) song.
Lyrics written by: Sue Mrithujayan
Music composed and song performed by Gil

Sue sent me thee lyrics and it just felt like a Rock song vibe so I went with it and this is what I came up with. Original video was over 6 minutes long so I edited it down o 4 minutes and then overdubbed additional vocals and screams in.

This is a cover of Stephen Stills song Buyin' Time.
The words still ring true today:

I enjoyed your rendition of neils song well done, why was the girl in a dark room,or was that just the camera?

That was the video she sent me. Tried to brighten it but I think it's because daylight is coming through the window.

I recently met a songwriter and she sent me some lyrics for me to make a song out of.
I made a song and she liked it so much she sent me more lyrics.
This is the second song we've done called Star 9 and we both like the way this turned out.
I think we're on to something:

This is a new video featuring Remastered Audio on this with new HD video

This is a collaboration with Miker 2 joining me on vocals and guitar and his wife Birde joining us on Bass.
They both did a wonderful job and I am proud to have collaborated with them.
Thanks to Mike and Birde for adding their considerable talents to this cover!

This song is from his Rain Dogs album and this is my solo acoustic attempt:

Watched a CNN Report recently about the startling rise in the number of homeless
children. This is happening nationwide
but has reached true crisis proportions in Las Vegas. Public Schools
are now stockpiling food and clothes for these kids.
This report really got to me. My heart goes out to these kids and I've
written a song just now about this.

What about these homeless children? Do the Wall Street executives
really need and deserve bonuses when there are children who are
homeless as a result of economic collapse caused by unchecked
Wall Street Greed?

Here's the song called Child Without A Home:

This is an audio remaster of my solo acoustic rendition.
Had to tune down two whole steps to sing it though.
Played on my 1997 Martin HD28-VR which sounds great even tuned down that low.

We did a version back in January but I screwed up the chords in the verses right before the chorus.
So I finally got araound to recording a new version and to my surprise Jane's vocals from our January video matched right in.
Played alongside each other I was surprised by how very close this new recording and the old recording were in speed and tempo.
Got lucky.  Jane was happy because she didn't have to re-do her vocals.

.

Been thinking a lot about my old friends I haven't seen in a while and
was inspired to write this song about those thoughts.
I moved away from my hometown many years ago so don't get to
visit much with them anymore.
There's a little bit of all of them in this song.

(I'm getting buffer stalls on my 560 kbps DSL connect so if you have a
slower connect speed I recommend hitting pause and letting it load first)

Here it is, the officially released version of this song about Greed.
Both Streaming Audio and a Video posted to MOG so take your pick.

This was recorded in early 2007 when I was attempting to play a song and gave up. Then this practice session jamming thing came out spontaneously and I let it happen.

Between the years 1991 and 2006 I quit playing and singing songs entirely.
If I even did pick up the guitar during those years it was just to mess around with practice jamming very similar to this.

Bunch of missed notes and very sloppy but it is truly spontaneous so here it is warts and all.

Have a great Halloween.
This is my solo acoustic interpretation of this Neil Young song:

San Francisco, June 24th 1995. Beautiful day for a Pearl Jam concert!
Pearl Jam came on and played 7 songs.  Then Eddie Vedder announced he was too sick to continue on.
He told the crowd that it's a good thing Neil Young is here to carry on.
Neil Young had just finished the album Mirrorball with Pearl Jam as his band but this was before it was released.
So they launched into totally new material.

Here is a report I found that is very accurate as to what happened that day. I was there and I thought it was awesome but many others were not so thrilled.
This report really gives you the sense of being there. Read on if interested:

PS: Pearl Jam did a make up concert in November 1995 with $15 tickets at a local University and it was one of the best shows I've seen.
They more than made up for the June show.

This is my favorite song from the 1995 Neil Young & Pearl Jam album Mirrorball.

I also posted the link on my facebook page as I wanted to share with some of my other friends.  Others have truly enjoyed this ride and your beautiful song!

Thank You so very much for sharing my song.  It is very difficult to get a significant number of people to listen to Original songs when you are outside the music industry. So I really appreciate it. The music Industry is a huge 24/7 marketing and hype machin full of artists with publicists and managers. DIY Guys like me get drowned out in all that noise.
I appreciate anyone willing to listen but even more when they share with friends.

Thanks again!

Gil

Just posted a video on the Chords page for this song.
This is from their 1985 album Low Life and I always liked this one.
Pretty easy one to play too.

Thanks so much for listening to ROADS and taking the time to comment!

Thanks very much for listening!
I just posted a new video version using Motorcycle Riding video.
Go to this post and enjoy the ride!

http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic. … 283#p82283

This is my latest original song ROADS and a friend of mine sent me his video (his first using his new helmet cam) of his recent ride on Monitor Pass (Hwy. 88/89 between hwy. 395 and Lake Tahoe).  Looks like a beautiful road to ride on.  I edited the video to fit to the length of my song.
Pro Italia ( a well known Ducati Dealer in Los Angeles) saw this and featured it on their Facebook page.
Hope you enjoy the ride!

Always liked this song so decided to look it up on Chordie and learn it.
Tried 3 different keys but settled on tuning down one whole step and capo on 1st fret.

Well done Gil. FYI - I wasn't picking on you. This issue has arisen in the past and the decision made was to not allow artists to post links to "pay for music" sites for promotion of their own music. Another moderator here even got his link removed some time ago.

Cool song smile

No worries, I understand. That's something Somojo puts on there and I manually deleted it.
Glad you liked the song.

The song topped the charts published today at #1 in all songs, all categories and #1 in Acoustic chart.
Completely unexpected but a nice surprise.

Sorry about that. I never ask people to purchase my music. It streams for free.

FYI MOG is not in the business of selling music but that embedded player did have a purchase link on it.
However it doesn't function properly so don't even know why they bother with it.
So I went to that site and removed the purchase option. No more purchase link.

Just wrote and recorded this one.

I dedicate this song to all my motorcycle riding friends and all the roads we've ridden together. I also dedicate it to all the motorcycles I have owned in my life.
It is the first song that references my other passion: Motorcycles.

Audio and Lyrics posted here:

Some Mac users have trouble loading audio at MOG with Safari browser.
Audio not as good on YouTube and no lyrics but here's a video:

Moderator note - Link to MOG site removed. As the song may be purchased at that site, that link is considered spam.

This is one of my favorites from REM. I was so taken by this song that back in 1990 I put the LP on the turntable with the intent to learn the song. I listened carefully then recorded my solo acoustic cover to cassette tape back then. Still have that old recording.

Surprisingly once I recorded it I never played it again....until now.
Glad I resurrected this one
