Agreed Alvee ... although be careful nightnav1, sometimes people don't use the correct font when they post a song and the tab is not alligned correctly

I'm going with 'Zona ... I'm an Eagles fan and was ticked off once again by their performance in the title game ... same as always, play like crap for 3 quarters, dig yourself a whole, then come back to take the lead and then blow it in the last 7-8 minutes ... BUT I do like the 'Zona Cinderella story so I'm going with the Cards ... if they lose that's fine, the team deserved to experience the Super Bowl after the way they played in the post season

Ken ... it's easier if they're intoxicated, then you can say it's just a bad hangover wink

It's hard to explain palm-muting, it's more of a "feel" that you experience ... the more you do it the easier it becomes ... I never really palm mute on an acoustic (unplugged)

Good explanation though ApeDoctor

Oddly once you start getting the timing down on songs, you come up with your own strum patterns ... usually I'll start trying some sort of pattern that seems completely off-tempo and after a few minutes, I'll have my own pattern down pat and it sounds rather well

Just remember, you don't always have to go by a songs original strum pattern, sometimes you can come up with a better version on your own

That's just not right neutral

The best advice I can give is to learn from Justin

www.justinguitar.com

He has a section on learning strum patterns that I learned from ... I was able to pick it up in one day ... extremely helpful

Agreed Drew ... a few rock and metal artists use Tele's ... John 5 uses a Tele with a humbucker and single coil

If you're into Social Distortion, there are quite a few good solo's that aren't too hard for beginners ... Mike Ness does simple but excellent solo's

Songs like, "When the Angels Sing", "Don't Take Me for Granted", "Ball and Chain", "Far Behind", "I Was Wrong", "Reach for the Sky", and "Story of My Life"

What strings do you use for Acoustic and Electric?

So far I've become partial to Elixir Polywebs for my Ovation and Ernie Ball Coated Slinky's for my Les Paul ... anyone else have anything similar or different?

Here's a good starting point to find what you need:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Search/Defa … e+recorder

As you can see, there are a lot of different devices to use with different price ranges ... I've been wanting to get one for a little while and was looking at the Tascum's and Olympus specifically ... I've heard the Tascum before and the playback sounded exactly like CD quality even when recorded with a band playing

I've never seen the Line6 recorder SouthPaw but I'm curious to hear what the recordings sound like

Phenomenal song ... I lived 4 years on Oahu and still this is my favorite Hawaii'an song ... Mahalo for bringing this song up All1Song

I happen to like Option 2

Rebel ... I was actually more impressed with the Epiphone Dot than I was the Gretsch ...

Jerome ... are the Gretsch's more country toned?  Maybe that's why I prefer the Epi-dot or Gibson 335 ... I get a more blues-rock tone from those that I've tried

Congrats 06 ... I've been trying to sell my PRS Custom for months now but I REFUSE to pawn it

Pix ... it's funny how I dont know how to do pinch harmonics and when I'm playing, sometimes I'll get this weird sound when I hit the string, I'll look at my pick finger and it's being held in a manner of doing pinch harmonics ... I'll realize I'm doing it and then I can't do it again ... funny stuff tongue

rebel ... how did you like the Gretsch?  I tried one out (after playing the Gibson ES335) and didn't like it that much

You're welcome Headcase ... congrats on the new set up ... new guitars take a little while to get broken in (much like new sets of strings) ... you're daughters did well for you smile

Happy New Years!

Your best bet might be to buy a distortion pedal if you can't get any more distortion out of your amp ... sad to say but when you buy an amp, make sure it's got the "stuff" you want ...

Instead of buying a distortion pedal, you can put the $$$ towards this:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Line-6-Spid … 1168996.gc

A great deal for $85 ... the metal sounds are modeled after the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier ... again this might be better than buying a stomp box

Wow very nice Jay ... I never looked at the 137 model before ... decisions, decisions, decisions

It's simple but not really tongue  ... for example the Les Paul Studio I have comes with a stop tail piece or bridge ... the tune-o-matic bridge is just before it ... with that in place, you can tweak your sound to suit your needs (I don't mess with it since I'm not proficient at tweaking the sounds yet) ... some models of guitars have a string-through body design where they dont stop at a bridge but rather go over the bridge and through the body of the guitar and come out on the backside of the guitar ... a lot of guitars (especially metal ones) use this design for better tones (the string actually goes through the body instead of stopping at the bridge or tailpiece)

Here is a better explanation rather than me trying to explain it ... plus it might make more sense smile

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stopbar

Hope this helps!

I've never used DigiTech boxes before but I assume they do just the same as the Boss boxes ... I use the MetalCore every now and then

SouthPaw ... I'm glad you explained the control knobs ... I was trying to find an easy way to explain changing your mid-range, bass, treble, etc without getting to technical

I have a Line6 Spider III 75 and I love it ... the 15 and 30's will still give you great presets and a number of different effects ... it's a really great buy and plus you don't have to spend a fortune on a bunch of stompboxes ... I'm not sure if the 15/30 comes with a noisegate already installed ... if not, I'd purchase one
