Don't suppose you have a link to some of them? smile

Do Wesley guitars and Stagg guitars come out of the same factory, ?

Don't think so, but most "budget" guitars are so similar it's hard to tell.

Try any of the (not very) many songs by Kula Shaker if you want rubbish lyrics.

I like the turntable player in that band. (Lincoln Park) The way that dude pushes the on button and wiggles those records back and forth is utterly amazing!?!?!?! What a musician...........

He doesn't only do the turntables, he also does all of the MIDI sampling and keyboard...along with some of the artwork for the album covers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Hahn

I'm not a huge fan of the whole turntable stuff myself, but when done properly it does sound good...some of the sampling on the Meteora album's great, particularly on "Nobody's Listening".

Anyway, every band has at least one member who doesn't really do anything except pose.

And while I'm on rant...what about all these heavy metal guys who dressed like chicks to get famous and then took of the spandex and became tough??? Motley Crue, Poisin and all those other D-bags. Hey, again the music doesn't offend me and I'm sure they're plenty talented enough but am I supposed to forget you dressed like a tranvestite to get famous. Where's the integrity?
What happened to the artists who gave a shit about what was in the music and not so much about what people were buying????

That's reminded me of another thing I hate: Motley Crue. THE WORST ROCK BAND IN HISTORY!!!

Try these two:

Chop Suey! - System of a Down
Toxicity - System of a Down

both have acoustic 12 string sections.

Tibernius, I am in your top 10? I have a MERCEDES ML, when I started practising again, and having a lot of house calls, I needed ASAP another "vehicle".I had to decide quit fast, because I went to South Africa, in April 2001 with the intention: if I can do this trip, and the results were good, I wanted to start soon. VEHICLE a must, but due to my crash I needed a higher model, like a HYUNDAI Santa Fé, or a Freelander. I took the freelander, 1 year later, I was very anxious, driving that car, even scared. If you feel not safe, scared, anxious in a car and my "income"depended a lot using a car, (the "core" of your practice are older people, disabled people....) so I sold that car, and since my crash happened with a BMW (a convertible, and 300kg heavier than the NON convertibles), this to prevent your car rolling top-bottom-top.. I needed to have a car high enough. Different on holiday, most USA + mustang convertible, you drive a very long time, like  400 -600 miles, in contradiction with working = 20 house calls, short distances, I needed a car, open the door, turn, and without any problem you get in your car. If you start hating a car, the result can be dramatic. That's the reason why I drive an SUV, like Mercedes ML. I felt safer, less anxiety, in April I pay the amount to take over, what happens next? I don't know. I have always loved CARS, GIRLS, HOLIDAYS and GUITARS, and in fact I should be better of with a regular car.

You get some really bad drivers round here who drive a Land Rover about 2 feet away from the back of the car in front when they're doing 60MPH.
When you're a leaner driver in a Fiesta Diesel with one of them behind you it's pretty terrifying.

People who think that because they drive a 4x4 (SUV) or BMW they don't have to keep a 2 second gap to the car in front.

Bands who copy whatever style is popular at the time (like EMO) and make more money/get more recognition than the bands who actually started that style.

So the Martin owner is the BMW owner of guitars then...they don't buy it because it's good, they buy it so they can show off. hmm

Which style? There's so many it's hard to pick one without knowing which styles you like. wink

I can recommend some Green Day songs, they're generally easy to play.

If it's only when fretting the guitar you need to raise the actions for that string. If it's happening when you're using a dropped tuning, then you need thicker strings.

It could also be a problem with the truss rod adjustment.

I've printed some tabs from Ultimate-Guitar and never found anything wrong with them. Quite a few repeats though.

The tonal difference is not noticed because they're cheap pickups, imports with a "k" value of around neck and middle 5.2k and bridge 5.3k so no difference. As T.S. mentioned you can change out the pickups. Check out the GFS pickups, they're reasonabley priced at no more than $ 80.00 american a set. I have a 70's overwound that I am going to put back in an alder body strat. If you change the pickups change the pots, switch & caps also. I would use CTS pots, Orange drop caps & either an Oak Grisby or CRS switch good quality parts.

Bootlegger.

Thanks bootleger, I had a feeling it might be that. It is 5.2k and 5.3k, I noticed it was written on the underneath of the pickups but had no idea what it was... lol

I was thinking of changing the pickups anyway. Thinking of either a set of Wilkinson WVS for £55.91 or a set of Kent Armstrong Vintage for around £120:
http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/Vintage_Strat%AE_STV-1

big change in price and I have no idea what the difference would be. I'd rather wait and get some decent pickups than spend half the money on pickups I'd end up replacing again.

Found a wiring kit too:
http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/Strat_ … _STWIREKIT

Even with the Kent Armstrong pickups it's still cheaper than a Squier. lol

You forgot Taka Hirose, the bass player from Feeder. He's got to be on that list somewhere...

Heresy!

Have you tried playing some of the songs by the guitarists you mentioned? They're a lot  harder than they sound!

Another one for the under-rated section: R.E.M. Some great riffs there.

Since you already made a bunch of choices building the guitar...

The only choice I made was the paint colour! lol

It was a £40 kit off eBay, maple neck, alder body, all the electrics ready done (though I had to re-solder some of them). A nice guitar for that amount!

I have noticed that changing which pickup is active (using the switch) doesn't seem to make much difference, maybe the pickups are too high?

I've finished building a strat copy (from a kit), and I've finished the setup, but I'm not sure about the pickups.
Does anyone know what height the Pickups are normally set to on a Fender Strat?

Well fellow chordians, maybe this topic existed, but I never found a similar list, so here is my list.
MOST OVER-RATED BANDS
1) U2
2) RADIOHEAD
3) THE CURE
4) THE SMITHS
5) PAUL WELLER SOLO, AND IN THE JAM, & STYLE COUNCIL.

Got to disagree with you there doc. Radiohead, The Cure and the Smiths shouldn't be in the Over-rated list. Put the Who in there though. wink
