A lot of slot heads come with 2 holes in the tuners... They do that so you can string it from either side of the post for them to lay on/approach the nut right and not interfere with each other... Generally the the EABe strings are all strung using the hole closest to the tuning buttons and the D & G use the holes closer to the center of the headstock.

I do feel luckythis guitar has one of the best tones I ever heard on an acoustic it is sweet. I double checked the numbers and found I read it wrong, got a flashlight and saw it is a Model #F312 . I do not feel bad about the price I paid the lady is very well off and she was glad just too get it out of the house as she is moving.  I also found a Ratalesnakes  rattles in the interior,I have heard this is an old tradion amongst some older players.. If I do ever sell it pix I will ask you first.Roger I am still stuck with my 12 year old hp and it is  not good with photo uploads. but coming soon I will have a new computer.

F312 is even better smile You really don't see those around. Awesome find dude! I'm jealous wink  GC shaped 12 fret slot head right?  Not sure if all were slot headed or not though...

Maybe "Dela" by The Beautiful Girls...  It was originally done by Johnny Clegg for the Disney movie "George of the Jungle" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggDNKrTsKv0

It was redone by The Beautiful Girls who are a modern "Cooler" Australian Surf band smile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ5nWLvh … sponse_rev

Real simple but catchy tune... Under the vid in the second link you'll fine I tutorial I made for it. My oldest son just turned 13 and this was one of the first tunes I taught him...  He loves it.

Real nice looking guit smile +1 on some pics!!  As you said, made in the 70's in Japan by Ibanez... Rock maple fingerboard, lam flamed maple back and sides and a solid spruce top. Nut width should be 1 11/16.   I've always loved Ibanez acoustics for the money. I've owned 3 of them and they were all very nice tonally with good playability.

A little background on the "Lawsuit era" clones.

Martin contracted Takamine in the early 70's to build their Sigma line of guitars. Right before the start of production Martin backed out of the deal and contracted them with someone else... Takamine already had all of Martins plans and stock piles of their wood so they proceeded with production labeling them as the Takamine F series. Upon their success many other brands popped up creating clones or "lawsuit models". Ibanez was a such company and they did it well. They were one of the few companies that strived here after Martin threatened Takamine with a lawsuit and the clones stopped. There never actually was a lawsuit...

You see a lot of lower end Ibanez's around and few people realize that Ibanez has a "higher end" offering in the acoustic market still...

No offence and glad you liked it/found it inspiring but I couldn't take it...lol

I use customs (11s) on all my Yairis...  Medium/heavies on the 2 short scales I use for slackkey...  Mediums on the jumbo...        All depend on the guit, what its used for and the tone wanted.

LOL... The 5040 had a lam Koa top with lam mahogany back and sides... I'd guess late 80's. Some of the 5040's also came with spruce tops... Never played one but it does have numerous good reviews and the price you got it for was a deal big_smile  Great looking guitar too! If there's anything specific you want to know let me know, I can probably dig it up...lol

Bravo!  I've seen very few forums that could discuss these issues civilly smile

I'm not really going to join in but will say that I was raised in church and to believe in god... Even went to private christian schools... I love to study religion & spend loads of time researching it's past. That said, I do not believe in any God. Not even a little bit.

+1 on Chess corner! I stop by every once in a while for a game there... I used to play religiously in college but haven't been a hard core player in years. Still play a lot with the kids and wife though...

Nice work Russ!

Just figured I'd update with 2 done...

I like flat as well especially when paired with gloss... The contrast is awesome! Only problem is that flat black is almost impossible to keep clean since its a more porous finish and it fades really fast. So I use satin for everything as it's a good compromise of looks and durability.

Pics of one done:)  Think I Like it...

Wow!! Thanks for all the feedback!

Black was my plan when I got the wheels but then I mounted them and wasn't so sure.... So I've kept them aluminum these last few months while contemplating it. I've started to do it several times but keep stopping smile Scared I'd regret it....  I've decided to do one today and see how I like it smile I just finished sanding down the areas to be black and am taping the aluminum off. Figure I'll try that first and then go all all black if it doesn't look right.    At worst I replace the wheel, but I'm fairly confident I'm going to like the black better...

Thank You!

2 more pics.... one with 31's and black wheels to give an idea of how that looked and one more with the new wheels as they are...

Ive posted this twice on my jeep forums and on facebook and no one will give me their opinion.....

A few months ago I traded tires and rims with a fellow jeeper and Ive been considering painting them mostly satin black but leaving some aluminum highlights... Below is a pic of the XJ with the back wheel photo shopped roughly how I want to paint them. Please offer up your opinions on whether I should paint or leave as is??  Got the materials here and am wanting to do them this weekend smile Just looking for some feedback from others before I do it smile   What ya think???

"Black Leaf Falls" by Sea Wolf   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-vZulnv … mp;lf=plcp

Just found this band a couple hours ago and have this tune stuck in my head.... Easy to pick up and fun to play. I've got the music down already but still need to play it some more before I can get the lyrics worked in smoothly... Verses are Am F G C E   Chorus is F Am E C F Am E C E
