Heya Tops,
Get good and practiced up I hope to come down and play with you sometime in the next few months.
Good Job, keep workin with your mic they are great practice tools and take some gettin used to............

Jeff,
I am proud of you, now you need to get some confidence and rock the house. Toney is a great guy and I'm sure you made his day
Buy a mic and plug in to an amp and practice with it and you will be on your way.

I don't think a substitution is gonna sound right in this song. The song needs the leading bass notes and similar to songs like "Needle and the Damage Done" they just don't sound right without the Bass notes over the chord.
Later Wayne P
Hanna,
I would try not to use your thumb for this, while holding a D chord use your pinky finger to hit the C# and for the B Note keep your D chord planted and take your middle finger up and fret the B note on the A string, then get your middle finger back to the D chord and hit the open A string over a D chord . It is a walk from C# , B , A on the 5th string over a D chord, then a G chord F # and a Em.
Wayne P
The Bass notes are the most important in this song, so if all your fingers are not holding down the entire D Chord not a big deal, play around with it and you'll get it
Thanks Kenny & Tops
My Manager , Promoter , #1 fan aka Sister in Law needed a recording for a small radio station on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation KMHA New Town. So it was a hurry up job and I messed the slide show up. If Liz doesnt have to many dirty dishes and laundry and other chores for me I will have it fixed on next days off
Wayne P
Thanks,
Don't worry my wife reminds me quite regularly that I'm 58 years old and who's butt you gonna kick , everytime I start talkin tuff. She takes all the fun out of it

This is a song I wrote a while back and finally got around to writing another verse and recording. It is kinda sort of a true story about growing up in Western North Dakota.

I Coulda Been
I was born in North Dakota , most folks aint heard of it
It's way up in Northland , Truth is most don't give a shit
I was raised in the oilfield and schooled on the rez
In a little trailer park, weren't so bad my momma says
Daylights , evening , morning tour were just a way of life
it was a tough old hall, but tougher on the wife
Chased Rigs from Montana , to Texas near and far
Seems I always stayed , too long down at the local bar
CHORUS
I' m a song of a roughneck , yeh I 'm proud oilfield trash
don't give me no lip son or I’ll have to whip some ass
don't give me no lip son or I'm bound to whip some ass
New Verse
With a Bud in my right hand and a joint in my left
And a pistol in the pocket of my leather vest
We threw that chain we tripped some pipe we
Even rode the blocks. There weren’t no college here
Just the school of Hard Knocks.
Chorus I' m a song of a roughneck , yeh I 'm proud oilfield trash
don't give me no lip son or I’ll have to whip some ass
don't give me no lip son or I'm bound to whip some ass
I coulda been a doctor or maybe a big star
but here I am a ruffneck , I guess that's who I are
fifty years and counting , folks say I been around the block
don't give no lip son or I'll have to clean your clock.
3rd Chorus
I'm a son of a ruffneck, yeh I'm proud oilfield trash
don't give no lip son or have to whip some ass
don't give no lip son or I'm bound , bound , bound to whup some ass !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hank's probably said and done some dumb things , but I sure wish I could write songs like him.
I think he's alright, sounds like a bunch of Liberal Bull to me !

Good one Zurf , I think that hits the nail on the head and all the others are the perks that come with playing guitar

I was just wondering what the motivation other folks had for playing at gatherings , whether open mic, jam sessions , solo events or other music venues.
Is it for self gratification of your accomplishments, for the applause , sharing your gift , or the love of playing and making music , or other reasons ?
Wayne P
Postive vibes headin your way Butch. Hope you heal up better than new !!

The town below me is Ouray, and the other town is Silverton. Close by within a few miles is Telluride and the Bluegrass festival there is huge. Pagosa Springs has a folk festival coming up labor day weekend. Here's a link

Tops,
You are welcome here anytime my friend ...............
Howdy,
Just winding down on my 14 days off and they have been some good ones. Went to Sturgis MC Rally for 4 days then returned home packed our bags and headed South to Casper Wy. then on to Rawlins Wy , Craig Colorado and ended up in Grand Junction Co the first night . Next day we headed south to Ouray Co to Silverton and what a spectacular Highway and view of the San Juan mountains. When leaving Silverton you head straight up and there are no guard rails , the white line next to the shoulder of the road, except there is no shoulder just the white line and many places a mile straight down. Kind of a white knuckle drive at times but man it is really something. I took a lot of pics but there aren't a lot of places to stop so my pics don't do it justice.
We ended up in Durango the 2nd night. The 3rd day we went from Durango Co to Pueblo Co and Then went on to Loveland Co for the Rocky Mt Quilt Show, Lizzie loves her quilting more than I do for sure . Anyway heres a few pix.
Hello Everyone,
I have been at a new job for the past year and it has been high stress and seems when I get some days off I am whipped, I hope I can contribute to chordie again on a regular basis . I am getting things straightened out again. Here's a song I wrote the other day and I did a very rough cut with my Zoom Recorder.
