Thanks Jim. You do know that"nailed it" means something different this side of the pond?  Nah, just kidding.

Yes, I play lefty. I do most things right handed and something's left. It annoys Ann when she asks me to rub baby creme on her back....(not like that!) And I put out my left hand and she says "no the other one" I find playing guitar comes more naturally to me lefty. Go figure?

Hi Bill. I did try sending it to you first, but I guess that didn't work? I'm so glad you like it as that means more than anything to me. Give Dondra a hug from me in return, I feel somehow robbed of a nice warm hug from a lovely lady that I feel I know yet never met. I shall search for my local ADA as you suggested.

Thanks again, you're a real friend.

Well....I didn't know you cared.

What I meant was the link?  You found it the same way I did. By scrolling down till I found my old weather beaten features, but where was the link hiding?

a few years back on a new years eve gig the punters got a little over excited and came too close to my space! at my feet are my pedals with the jack plugs sticking out the front! so of course they stood on my jacks and bent them and while trying to straighten them a couple broke...
so now, when i change strings i allow about an inch and a half, (40mm) to stick out so that if the punters come too close they get scratched and i say "oops, sorry about that," but they keep out of my space so it works.

do any of our other performers have naughty but nice ways of keeping their equipment whole?

thanks everyone for having a read and passing on your great reviews. this began as a happy song, one day. i went back to it a few days later and the sadder part came out. there's a story line in coronation street (a British soap) at the moment about a wimp of a guy trying to put his marriage back on track. having been there, i know it's piddling against the wind, hence the end part!
i found it's no good living on dreams and hoping for the best, the only way forward is by starting a new page.

and anyway....songs write themselves

This is in waltz time. It's a mix of conversations we've had here and my own experiences. hope you like it.

Then You'll Walk On.Undefined

[C] We can dance till the [G] end of the [F] night.

We can [C] kiss when the [G] moment seems [F] right.

We can [Am] do what we [G] want to.

[Dm] Do what we [F] want [G] tonight.

[C] We can walk in the [G] halo of street [F] lamps.

We can [C] stroll through the [G] park in the [F] rain.

We can [Am] do what we [G] want to.

[Dm] Do what we [F] want [G] tonight.

[Ab] Tonight – we'll be young [Ebm] lovers [Bbm] again.

[F#] Laughing and [Ab] playing.

As [F#] we did all [Ab] those years [Db] ago.

And [Dm] though we wont [G] know it.

[Dm] We'll fall in [G] love all over [C] again.

We can [C] dance and [G] hold each other [F] tight.

When the [C] music stops [G] playing we'll [F] smile.

You will [Am] do what you [G] want to.

[Dm] Do what you [F] want [G] tonight.

(SOLO; F-G-C-Am|F-G-C|| F-G-C-Am| F-G-C||

We had [C] dreams years [G] ago at the [F] start.

Till a [C] time came where [G] we fell [F] apart.

You can [Am] do what you [G] want to.

[Dm] Do what you [F] want [G] tonight.

[Ab] Go back to [Ebm] him if you [Bbm] must.

You [F#] loved me for a [Ab] reason.

[F#] Maybe [Ab] never [Db] again.

When the [Dm] music stops [G] playing.

[Dm] You'll smile and [G] then you'll walk [G] on.

Oh dear! Sounds like someone stood on your corns? Actually, this sounds like most of the women I know. I'm not a chauvinist, it's just a fact I'm afraid. I'm hoping you'll put this on the web somewhere so we can witness your vitriol from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Some great songs coming up lately.

Great one Jim, I went through this at age 27 and divorced a year later, all the emotions are there and still sting yet I'm so glad I got out of there and found my Ann, 37 years and counting. We argue...yes. we have tantrums...yes! But we also have a beautiful love and friendship. You have such a talent.

You've managed to put down in words what I've been thinking about for quite a while. As you get older, well I at least, tend to contemplate a lot about my younger days and missed opportunities.
A very thought provoking poem, well written and entertaining. Thanks for sharing.

you seem to be writing about all the mundane things we don't normally think about. you're showing great insight. well done another great poem.

i have said for many years that there is a fine line between love and hate...one day you love someone, something happens and you suddenly don't love them anymore, or vise-versa?
this is a great thinking poem as you have to think what it's actually saying and that's what great poems/songs are about. anyway, what's one letter between friends?

Hi Beamer. I've sent you an email, have a read and decide what you want to do. I cant say do or don't only you can decide.

BTW, I like what you sent it's gritty and earthy and a little close to the bone....

You are really in turmoil, and I don't think she's helping things? Staying together for the sake of the kids is not always the best thing. Kids can pick-up on atmosphere, silences or arguments, as I said I've been there.

As I have said, all your feelings are solidifying into some great poetry and I dare say there's more to come.

This sounds like "one more time for old times sake?" Done that been there got the knife mark in my back!

I see you've discovered clarity?you can email me with as much profanity as is necessary to make you feel like the lead weight in your guts is going.

It's good that you can express your feelings with frankly top flight poems. Another cracker.

WOW, that was totally gut wrenching! Having been there, I feel your pain and understand better now the meaning of your collection of songs and poems. I know from the break up of my first marriage how wretched and abandoned you must feel, because that stands out a mile in your epic work here my friend. You may feel you're off loading, but what a brilliant way to do it.

I haven't opened my email yet and look forward to reading your next installment, I am always available if you want to get stuff off your chest more privately. Phil Collins first solo album was inspired by his marriage break up. Every cloud and all that.

Hi pulpfriction, welcome to Chordie. Great opening question. The only thoughts I can offer that might help; there used to be a product called plastic skin here in the UK for small cuts etc, it's basically super glue or crazy glue in the US. Obviously only a temporary fix but might help if you're gigging?

Don't forget to come keep us company.
