I try not to use mine when I'm going places I know. I'm scared of that exact thing happening to me. I want to be able to still get around without the GPS (mines built into my phone), at least places that I should know how to get around!

It's almost here! They can't wait! I've been working on getting my callouses back, so don't feel bad Jeff. When our fingers start hurting we'll just soothe them with a little whiskey and rum.

And so it is done. Come see the new sticky for your thumbs up and other stuff here: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=22039
I also made a test topic so you have a playground: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic. … 06#p141906

Topic: BB Code test thread (0 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I don't know if anyone wants to practice with their BB code like in this thread: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=22039
But, I thought I'd open a up a new topic just for it. You can play around here, practice quoting me and thumbs-uping my awesomeness (yeah right) and play with your img and color tags and such and ask for help if you're confused. Have fun!

Topic: Thumbs up and other stuff (1 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Quite a few members asked for a "like" button or thumbs up etc. While adding kudos to a post is something done in some forums, I'm not sure this format has that ability. In the short term, an easy solution is to simply click on "quote" for the post you like and then paste the following:
[img]http://www.desismileys.com/smileys/desismileys_3266.gif[/img]
and it will end up looking something like this:
click on "quote" for the post you like and then paste the following, and it will end up looking something like this
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll notice that code for the thumbs up looks familiar. It's really nothing more than sharing an image stored at another location (a lot like how chordie shares songs that are stored at other locations). To share an image, see the sticky here: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=14150
There's a lot of other neat things you can do on the forum, with a little code. Many of you know about smilies.
:) :( ;)
The above code will look like this if you just type it in your reply:
There are more smilies that you can use, as well as COLOR , and of course chordpro formatting!
Next time I get bored, or as I see members needing help with some little things to spice up your posts, I'll add more info. In the meantime, you can check out this page on chordie for more smilies and such:
http://www.chordie.com/forum/help.php?section=bbcode
The thumbs up is hosted by desismileys.com if you want to use their site and smilies for additional thumbs up and other images you may visit there and find code boxes on their site. Simply highlight the code in the second box (BB code for forums), copy and paste it into your reply. Their code is written so that if someone clicks on the image you have just pasted, it will bring them to their website. Considering the site is helpful and not too filled with ads, I think this is ok. You can also remove the url tags and all information between them and just copy and paste the information between the img tags. That is what I have done, so that my thumbs up is not clickable and does not take you to another site, just the image is here. I may simply add some more with the code to make it easier for everyone as we go along. This italic font was brought to you by the simple letter i tag

Re: Goodbye Chordie , (36 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I think it is very sad that someone who has been on Chordie for 6 years does not know that the songs are NOT hosted here. As a search engine, Chordie collects all the songs from other sites and displays them in an easy to read manner where altering instrument tuning and transposing is done at the touch of a button. If there are error then they are on the host site!! However there is a facility available on Chordie that any Member, even a Junior Member, can edit and correct the songs.
Roger
There's your thumbs up!

I think I like that website that hosts the images...
Although, on second thought... delete the url tags so your code starts with just the img and ends with the /img tags then the pictures aren't clickable to bring you to that website. I don't want to be a spammer or encourage it (although, the site is pretty cool for finding all kinds of images!)

They need a singing leader to keep them on track. My Dad is very good at commanding his audience and sing alongs... and it's the loud commanding voice that does it. Learn to play and sing loud and be the leader! GOOD for you in doing it!!!

She did GREAT! I can't believe it. I thought for sure she would quit when she couldn't get the D quite right. Nope! She kept on trying through the day and we were actually able to play Tom Dooley together after a few hours! I didn't push her, just showed her and kept giving positive encouragement. I can't believe she kept going all day until she could do it! No, it's not super smooth. No, her strumming isn't anything to write home about, BUT she CAN transition from a D to an A7 and back without too much hesitation. She's GETTING IT!
PROUD MAMA!
Dino - I don't blame you wanting to save for the Martin. Giving up many other things until you get it, is WELL WORTH IT! I love mine, and you will be glad you saved for it when you meet your new love too!

I have a feeling the fellas will know better than me about beer. I think that's probably accurate for the US, though I still prefer vodka and whiskey myself Oh, and wine too.

Stephie - my 8 year old - has decided (once again) to try to learn to play the guitar. She says she NEEDS to learn for the gathering. She's working on my favorite 2 chord song right now.

Yeah, it went something like... "Sure why not?", "heck if we care", "yeah, make him feel special" ... ha ha ha ... not really. Just KIDDING! But Roger's correct, we did all discuss it. Enjoy it my friend, you've earned it!

Zurf... I'm sorry you won't be able to make it. Work is money, so it is what it is sometimes. I know that. Don't worry though, we won't let the venison go to waste.
Jeff, Katie is such a riot sometimes. She actually feels like she knows you, as much as Jim and I do. Which is pretty cool! When she meets you in person, she'll probably be shy for about 5 minutes... then she'll be in your lap, or showing off, or laughing till she cries and making everyone else do the same!

Katie: Mom, when is Jeff coming?
Me: In a few more weeks.
Katie: Mom, I can't wait for him.
Me: Sorry, you have to wait.
Katie: UGH!
LOL! Katie can't wait for you to get here. My friend from NYC should be coming too, and I've got a few locals that are excited to get away and come hang with us. It should be a nice relaxing time. Reminder to anyone still considering it... we'll have venison!
