Sometimes you suddenly realize how much you have to be grateful for. Today was one of those days for me.
This is for Ann.

Without you.  Phill Williams.

I am not lonely.
I'm not afraid of being alone.
I drive for hours.
But I know I'm driving home.
You are waiting.
As you have always been.
One thing that scares me.
Is if you're no longer there.

Sometimes I forget things.
Or I may treat you bad.
But know that I love you.
The best love I've ever had.
I hear you breathing.
It relaxes my soul.
Just knowing you are there.
As we both grow old.

As we grow older.
Is what I should say.
We've had a great life.
And still today.
If I go before you.
I hope I do.
I couldn't stand living.
Without you.

As Pete says, it's a tricky vocal and masses of awkward chords. But You passed the audition lol. Specially the dum dum parts!

As usual, Jim, you've put everyday thoughts into words and arranged them into a great song. Well done.

Heart felt and well written, I can feel the sorrow and regret, the sadness and despair that break ups bring.

My dad also loved his garden, a love he inherited from my grandmother, or mamgu as we say in Welsh. Unfortunately I didn't inherit his love, so I've got a nice lawn!
After my mother died he lost interest in everything for a year or so, then he seemed to pick up again, we had some great and revealing chats till he died suddenly of a heart attack.
Jan, your poem brings it all back, especially how selfish and thoughtless I've been; living my own life and raising my own family. I know that last line isn't actually true for me or you, it's just the way we feel knowing I could have done more. You are doing everything, you've got me talking about something I've kept to myself for ten years.

So thank you and well done, well written and thought provoking... I'm off to have a cry now.

As a ps, at the time he died I was learning YOUR SONG by Elton John. I still include it in my set and think of him as I sing it every time.

Hi Jeff, as I mentioned in Bill's earlier post, there are lots of pedals that add harmonies by playing guitar and taking 1st 3rd and 5th. Adding harmonies "live" through an AP Is a new one on me.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. CG, it's Jim's song (Tig) he asked me to put my interpretation on it but I'm not sure I achieved his vision, I just played it as I felt it...sorry Jim

Hi Bill. On stage I use a harmonizer which has to have a guitar plugged into it to form the two or three piece harmonies eg, you strum the chord and it plays the harmony...simple but your guitar must be in tune! The model I have is a  Digitech pro vocalist 2, not the best one on the market, but you can turn your main vocal down and turn the harmony vocal up. In studios they can adjust the vocal using a computer, I had a program that could do that but it was on win 95 and wont run on later OS. I don't think this has helped at all? Sorry

Hi Russ, sorry to hear about your tragedy. Is it feasible or cheaper to replace it with a new neck? Maybe not an original? If so would it still hold a special place in your heart? I'm sure you'll get it right.

In the shower. On the thunder jug. Or as I wake up. Words and tune hit me but by the time I get to writing them down....their gone or just don't make any sense!
It's dangerous for me to go noodle on the guitar as I may hit a rhythm or strum a chord sequence which I'll play over and over until some words come. If I don't record it straight away, the next time I try to play it, it will be totally different or just sound not right. That's why my phone and my camera and my tablet are almost full of bits of unfinished songs

I also have green eyes but my strat is white a la George Harrison during his Bangladesh period. I only used the tremelo arm/whammy bar on Shadows tunes, for other FX I used the heel of my hand. I'm missing it now.... I'll have to get it out of the box and have a noodle.

Congrats on a lovely guitar...I love that PRS, I don't suppose you want to donate it to a worthy charity namely me?

No I don't do comedy....any way, it wouldn't be financially worth it as I'd have to supply magnifying glasses!

Many thanks Peatle and Brian for tuning in and commenting.

Punters....yeah sorry about that. BGD mentioned drunks reminded me of a time many moons ago when a couple of beautiful ladies came a little too close, I didn't mind that until one stepped on the foot of the mic stand and cracked one of my front teeth when the mic shot forward...ah well.

Welcome to chordie Dean. Thanks for the support. How about telling us a bit about yourself? Introduction in a new post please.

Sounds like the wife shopping, goes round a dozen shops the returns to the first to buy!
It's a serious topic yet written in a witty style. Full marks.

Ying and Yang? Lovey dovey and bitter. It actually sounds like it was written by two people; nice to start then you feel the doubt as the song progresses. Well done both, when can we hear it?

That's the first time one of my songs has been compared to a nudist beach lol

Thanks for listening. Trouble is I love multi layering my songs. I'll have to do more raw ones, or just post the demos....
