Guitar Acquisition Syndrome

I did not know this Neil Young song, this is first time I ever heard it. Well done.

I was introduced to this 1981 song from Journey a couple of weeks ago and just had to record it.

Very nice Phill.

Will it be kept as an instrumental or developed into a song?

Sadly at my advanced years I am unable to remember chord sequences so I only played and sang the first verse and chorus. I just read the rest smile.

Enjoyed it though but I think you should put up a recording of it for us all to hear, please.

Pretty please, even. wink cool

Perhaps a visit to a luthier to have yours set up properly will make you happier with it and will most certainly be kinder on your pocket.

May the G.A.S. be with you!

Great to hear and watch although I am sure someone said "I don't know the words"..... that is a flogging offence!!!

Which means that means the culprit has to flog me his best guitar for

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The song below is NOT stored on the Chordie server. The original song is hosted at www.guitaretab.com. Chordie works as a search engine and provides on-the-fly formating. Chordie does not index songs against artists/composers will, but it is impossible for an automated search engine to manually validate every song. If you want to remove this song from Chordie please click here.

Further to Arkady's reply. This is from the top of the song's page and you can see who hosts the song. It is them you need to write to.

I can't find it just now, but I recall reading a post a (long) while back where the admin explained how the "top" rankings of the songs on chordie were determined.  It pretty much made no sense to me and seemed to indicate (if memory serves) that they weren't based on stats or data.  In other words, they were kinda random.

Anyway, I might be totally off (I've slept since then), but there it is.

Hey Astro, is this what you meant?: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=453

OK you guys with these new fangled 'i' thingies. If you look on the home page you will see this:

2012-09-09: iPhone version
I have changed the iPhone-version of the site. It is now using the same version as the iPad. Please give feedback.

So if you go into the 'Resources' page, half way down you will see: Give feedback about the site

Click on this and ask away there. This will give Per, the site owner, the information he needs to try to give you what you want.

Seconded!!!

One of my customers was talking about this a few weeks ago and I think that, with the right software, GuitarPro formatted songs convert tabs in to audible music to follow. I may be wrong but I also think that Guitar Pro and the songs for it have to be purchased.

I guess that ANHWIN forgot to look at our name; Chordie indicates chords.

I am new to chordie and was using it for the first time earlier this morning. There was a button for converting the songs to chopro format on the right margin when I was using it earlier but now the button is not visible. What happened? How do I convert the songs to chopro format?

Weclome to Chordie,

The usual problem is that the screen resolution is too high placing the button off the screen. On a PC hold down 'Ctrl' and keep pressing '-' until you can see it. On Apple/Mac I have no idea.

What is new about this?

Christmas 1958 I recieved a plastic 4 string guitar with a similar piece of gear fitted. As an 11 year old newbie, it did mean I could quickly play a song, but it is no substitute for being able to play properly.

I am in full agreement with Baldguitardude but for Bud I would substitute Cristal!!

Phill you have really got me interested with your comment that I have changed the chording. I have been playing this song since it came out in 1966 and always with these chords. I cannot find the chords, only lyrics, listed on the internet to check. My chords are: Em, Em7, Em, Em7, D, D, B, B, (4 beats on each chord shown).

I have been playing this way for so long that I realise that it could be incorrect and I am just used to playing it like this so that it seem right to me and, as I am unable to find my original sheet music for it, I would like to know what chords you have for it.

And yes, I have tried to make it more upbeat to make it my own.

I agree with Pete, you can put your own interpretation on a song and make it your own. I usually do so myself smile.

Nicely played, well done.

Thanks for the comments guys. It is a while since I did any recording and this is the second recent one I have done so I thought it was about time I started joining in here again.

Phill. The drummer is Band in a Box I'm afraid, but recently they are using more 'Real Tracks' for drums and other instruments, which sound far better than the midi ones. Incidently, in my version, half the third verse and the whole of the fourth verse are mine and not Sonny's, as I felt it told a better story this way.

Hi Jx3,

You can edit the quote before posting by removing words, (as I have done with yours) or the links to photos. As long as you do not alter the 'quote' and '/quote' in the square brackets at the start and end of it you will be OK. You can always preview to see it is OK before posting.

Hi Babblinidiot and welcome to Chordie,

Either "Tom Dooley" or "When The Saints" are the 2 chords songs that I use to teach my students on their first lesson. "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands", a 3 chord song, is the usually used for the second one. So not so corny!!

By the way most of my students are Portuguese and they often know these songs.
