Be happy!  I'm with you, guitar is an escape... something to sing with... it's never been about being great at it.  Someday, maybe I'll join you.  I sometimes wish it was a little easier and practice wasn't necessary.  wink

Welcome to Chordie Julie!  There's a lot of guys on here, but I would be thrilled to welcome another lady into the mix!  Chordie is a GREAT bunch of people willing to help one another.  The site is great, but the forum is even better!  wink

I bought my son and hubby both electrics from rondo a few years ago.  They're still going strong and neither has insisted on a new electric yet (new acoustics yes, but apparently the electrics are good enough).  smile  I think I eyed Jeff eyeing Jim's guitar when he was here, but in my excitement it didn't hit me.  We should have both said something to Jim and made him get it out!

Mid-September... Isn't that when the fish are running at the Salmon River about 30 minute drive from my home?  Hmmm... I don't do that type of fishing though, so you'd have to get Zurf to meet up with you here, but there certainly are couches to be had!  Jim hasn't gone Salmon fishing in a while, he'd probably LOVE it too!  wink wink  We're not in Canada, but we aren't toooooo far of a drive from the Niagara Falls boarder.  About 3 hours in fact from the Falls, if Grand Island isn't too backed up.

Congrats on the win, Zurf!  It's nice that an organization for helping can provide an exciting raffle in return.  Usually it's not so much fun.  Good for you and the organization!

GOOD FOR HIM!  4.6 isn't much for 17 years... that's quite a large chunk of ones life.  I agree, it's sad the Taxpayers are the ones footing the bill.

Not sure, you're going to need to explain a little more in detail on that one.  I can still print my songbook.  I know if you get to like 100 songs, I think it's 100 another member will correct me if I'm wrong, there becomes an issue.  You may need to make a second songbook if that is the case, or a third, or fourth, etc.  smile

Ha ha ha!  ZURF, this sounds an awful lot like our gathering the weekend previous, only on a slightly larger scale.  WOW!  Of course, we sat in the rain for quite some time, as I kept saying "It'll blow over!" before we made it to the porch and eventually the dining room (thanks to Jeff again for saving my guitar).  LOVE LOVE LOVE, "Where are my dots!"  ha ha!

It absolutely sounds like a perfect time.  I am really sorry we missed it!  Absolutely have to get EVERYONE together next summer!!!!

YEAH to the chordie membership and special thanks Alex P Keaton!

CONGRATS NAO!  I didn't know they made a 00-15M, I thought the 000-15M was the smallest (which is the one I have).  I've just read up, and apparently the 00 is better for fingerpicking.  Can't wait to hear some recordings!!!

Yeah yeah, I know, I haven't done any yet.  I will... I promise, right after I hear yours.  wink

HAPPY NGD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there Olfalaal and welcome to Chordie and the forums!  I suggest you take a look at the resources page to learn what Chordie is and how it works.  smile Here are the Chordie.com FAQ:  http://www.chordie.com/faq.php

My version of the FAQ's goes like this:

Chordie is more like a search engine.  No songs are hosted on Chordie.com servers.  They are hosted on various other websites, indexed by Chordie's sleek algorithms and put into a format that's easier to read, find, save, etc. The site also contains a free membership, no fees or fee options, just some ad's to help keep it going.

Take a look around, visit the various forums, and you'll find that the forums are filled with friendly folks willing to lend a helping hand.  smile  ENJOY!

I think gold metalflake suits you most of all the colors you mentioned, but just about anything will be awesome if you get it working right!  HAPPY NGD!

Sounds like a GREAT time!  Sad your photo Safari didn't work, and the river was too high.  I guess that just meant more time for picking and hanging with friends though, which is awesome.  smile

I did a search too.  Best I could find is lyrics, and apparently this was originally done by The Radios.  If you have a link to a version people can listen to, maybe some of our talented members can help you out with what they are hearing.  smile

Thanks guys!  It was a blast!  Yes, it's on FB and there's a few more pics there of the other party goers and such as well!  smile  I heard a rumor that a video of my terrible drunken version of "Puff the Magic Dragon" might go up at some point.  My friend in NYC has it on her iPhone.  So far it hasn't surfaced.  I have to admit, I REALLY hope it stays that way!  LOL!

All I was good at really was striking poses.  My fingers were way too drunk to play guitar.  wink

Highlights, and random things I learned this weekend.

You can get so drunk that you can't play your guitar.  This means, you can't play chords that you should be able to.  You can't keep a steady beat.  The beat you think you are keeping is really much slower than you think it is.  This is really funny for the drunk person who can't understand why their fingers suddenly don't work right.  It's also really embarrassing when it's played back to you the next day on video.  Some people are allergic to bees.  Those people should have Epi-Pens when visiting podunk NY as we have a LOT more bees here than in NYC.  Jeff is a GREAT sport.  He can fill in a Bm even when someone is playing without a beat.  You CAN have a skype Jam in the middle of a party (literally, Zurf was in the center of the circle on the tablet).  People that don't play guitar are impressed, even if you're too drunk to play.  Rain storms do NOT ruin parties.  My Dad can still impress the hell out of everyone, even though he says he can't play anymore.  Jeff can get really drunk and still play guitar.  3/4 of a bottle of Rum is my proof.  wink  Jeff is extremely tall.  Washing the top of the fridge never occurred to me before I saw a picture of him standing next to it.  I can hardly reach the top of the fridge.  Next time there will be a bed for him to sleep in (so that he fits, and  his snoring is muted a little).  I shouldn't start drinking until after I've got the food organized.  There is a huge venison roast that should have been on the charcoal side of the grill.  I am spoiled by local corn.  Salt potatoes really are a Syracuse thing.  Other people seem to love my kids as much as I do.

Pictures are coming soon!
