Now, Phill; You know you have to put this on SoundCloud for me and Dondra to hear it, right? It reads like it will be a great tune!

I listened with great interest and really liked what I heard. Do you often play/practice privately, because I do as well.
Notes left on YT and it is good to meet you, All1Song!

Yeah, I knew about the non-existent "Vol. II", Zurf, but I was still hoping that Jeff Lynne might have something in the vaults he may have kept from the sessions.
However, "The Travelling Wilburys" was a fictitious group as we all know, so there wouldn't actually BE anything, right?
I'll let you know about Vol. III as soon as it arrives and I play it a dozen times!
Thanks

Topic: Finally!!!!! A PACEMAKER!!!! (14 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Hello Friends,
After so many trips to the hospital, so many meds we tried that didn't work, Dondra's cardiologist has finally put in a pacemaker. a device which will keep her heart rhythm regular and without the atrial fibrillation that accompanied it.
I know. Y'all, like me, are asking yourselves, "Why didn't they do that in the first place, Bill"? I'm about to tell you, but try not to give into the temptation to let your jaw hit the floor.
We're both on Medicare and what that means is Medicare only pays 80% of what you need, be it medicine or surgery. What that means is the operation which is an expensive one, won't get the doctor who does it, a full amount. So..... they try everything else first, no matter the amount of danger the patient is in, "hit 'em with those meds and try to avoid anything major, such as a pacemaker or open heart". (That's not an actual quote -- just one I used for an explanation.).
Of course we were upset and relieved at the same time when we learned of this, and as I write, she is in bed resting and letting the wound from the pacemaker surgery heal. She gets home health care and we were given a roller/walker for her to use to get around here at home. She wanted to let all of you know that she's feeling much better and feels like she has "a new heart". There is a monthly test we have to do to make sure the device is calibrated and functioning as it should, so we're both feeling a lot less stress nowadays.
Could we have had the procedure done at the beginning? Sure, but the thing we were lacking is "supplemental insurance" to cover what Medicare will not. The reason we have only the Medicare is because we really cannot afford the supplemental insurance and that's all there is to it. If you have it, you know what I mean. If you don't, have you tried pricing it?
Sometimes "Thank You" doesn't seem like a good enough phrase to express gratitude, but just the same we do thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Bill and Dondra

Great plan, Zurf and one I may follow with you, if we can keep in touch here. For example, "Bill, this week it's 'Louie, 'Louie"", etc. etc.
Due to our recent circumstances, I haven't touched my guitar lately (Just a second.....okay, touched my Strat, but she's giving me the "cold shoulder". ), but with a plan such as this one, I feel like I could really get into the practice of playing regularly once more, so thanks very much for the inspiration!
Your friend,
Bill

The lead guitarist you refer to is not Cliff, but Hank Marvin, TF. I've enclosed a wiki link for you and it might also be noted that the band has been a major influence on many of our top stars. They're all over YT, including a concert you might like. (Those dance-steps are cool to watch).
Now what I am trying to figure out is: did The Ventures come out before The Shadows?
Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Marvin
Thanks

Sorry I'm late with my comment, Easy, but as I stated on SC, I'd like to hear more collaborative work with you and Jan, and I agree y'all might have a Hazlewood/Sinatra thing happening. Let those words and music pour on out of you, my friend. It wll help that discouragement.
Great job, Jan and Easy!

And don't forget " Boxed and Bootleg Versions"!
Is anyone getting tired of all this re-issue business? I am and I'm tired of spending the extra money to buy what I've already bought twice.
What's next? "Newly Released Digital Version" because our producers/engineer accidentally sat on the "Even More Clarity" button?
Or how about this one: "Last Remastered Boxed Bootlegged and Digital Version: We Really Mean It This Time!"
I know I'm exaggerating, but enough is enough already! I bought the original work because I liked it and I may go for a dig remaster once, but that's it. Don't repackage/rename the work and put it back on the shelves hoping to make more money!
Agree/Disagree?
Thanks

I'm glad there's a Volume 3, but this one has a special place in my heart. Hoping against hope there's a Volume 2, but not holding my breath.
I know there's a Special Edition floating around, but at a higher price and just 2-3 more songs, but I think I will stay with what I have,
Thanks

Re: Bringing Back An "Oldie Subject" (12 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well, I saw the rocking chair/guitar scene referred to by our Uncle Joe and then I watched the 24 minute film Doug told us about and damn if it didn't happen again!
As a disclaimer, I have to tell you all I'm not a "wimp" nor a "Milquetoast", okay? Certain things, such as music just hit me exactly the right way and there I go - raining again.
Watching the film I kept thinking of the Grim Reaper and how, during the video I kept saying to him, "How dare you take Roy and George from us??? I mean, how DARE you, you hooded, skeletal piece of garbage (for want of the more appropiate word)?"
Then I got to thinking about my own recent days with that SOB (the Reaper, I mean) hovering in the background and I thought of something I once told one of my patients: "You may not have been dancing with the Grim Reaper, but you sure were at the same party together."
God save The Wilburys! Volume 3 is on order.
Thanks, you two for the responses and the wonderful 24 minutes of being a "fly on the wall".

That was the thread in which we discussed songs and music which has the power to evoke your deep emotions, such as chill bumps and yes, even tears which we guys try our best to disguise with throat-clearing and the "sniffs".
Excuses most commonly heard begin with "Well, I got me this cold you see.... what? The song's making me cry a little?....... Naw, Man!!! Where'd you ever get that idea??? Pass me that hankie, wouldja, Bubba?"
To get to the point, a few weeks ago I noticed my copy of "Travelling Wilburys Vol. I" was missing, so I ordered another one from Amazon.
I had forgotten how much I liked the whole album and if you haven't heard it, you're missing some legendary music.
There are 3 tunes which do evoke tears from me and they are as follows:
1. "Not Alone Anymore", which features the late Roy Orbison on lead vocals. Now, tenors do touch my emotions, but this one was special. Not only did Roy die not long after this album's release, but if you know anything of his private life and his love for his wife Claudette who died tragically in a motorcycle accident, followed by his kids who died in a house fire, it's clear why that voice means so much to so many people.
2. "Headed For The Light", George Harrison is the lead singer on this one and if one listens to the words, it's clear why, at the end of his life, he found such peace and shared that with his friends and fellow musicians. He sounds so happy with those words of his and that nothing will stop him from being "headed for the light". I for one can't help but share his feelings as I try to achieve that same inner peace.
3. Finally, the group as a whole takes turns on lead vocals with the song "End Of The Line". As one hears each of the Wilburys' philosophy about the end of it all and how each hopes they'll leave the world a better place than when they found it, I just couldn't help but think of my own life and if I'll be as "satisfied" as Messrs. Dylan, Harrison, Lynne, Orbison and Petty describe with their words and music when it's my time.
===========================
Those are just the three tunes on the album which stir my emotions. The rest of the music is fantastically written and produced with plenty of "toe-tapping" going on as well. It's good to hear Bob Dylan's sense of humor for a change.
Not spamming you and neither am I affiliated with any record company. Just passing along my feelings. I'd be interested in yours, if you want to share them.
Thanks
Bill

I'm glad to see both Peter and Beamer here. Goes to show ya, nobody can slip away from chordie without someone noticing pretty quick.
Speaking of Mr. Benson: You managed to get a few cover tunes past me on YT which I haven't commented on as yet. I will correct that as soon as I can. You know I always enjoy watching and hearing you play and that goes for the "Missus" as well.
All the best

These guys: If I weren't about to give you the information that the group is named "The Shadows" who sometimes backed the great Cliff Richard, how many of you would have guessed it.
That video and the clothes could pass for any contemporary group of today. But instead this Monday Classic is from 1960.
I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks, it means a lot and what binds us all (music) is just such a great catalyst, isn't it? I can honestly say I have never met anyone who doesn't like music (have you?). They may not favor a particular style, but music in general? Nope, never have.
Thanks for the compliment, my friend and I am happy to say that I feel that sensitivity coming right back to me!

Re: Monday Morning's Classics (85 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
"Relaxed". I guess that is why I love the jazz-style of playing so much, TF. It allows one to really explore the guitar and its beautiful "smooth" (in your words) nuances.
Thanks also for identifying the make, model and the pickups for us. I never could have done that on my own, but what can one expect from a drummer who is a relative "newbie" on guitar? Still only a beginner - learning - and I hope I always will be.
Just word about my choices on the "Classics": Sometimes I like to feature the "stars", but I also sometimes stumble across someone who is not famous but exceptional and feature that person instead. I hope y'all won't mind if I take that little bit of leeway?
That being said, a "watch out" to all my Chordie friends for one of "our own" coming your way soon.
Thanks and feel free to submit any requests with a pm if you'd like me to feature someone special. I specify a pm so that it will come as a "surprise" to the rest of all my friends here.
I haven't forgotten about P.D.Q. Bach either, TF.
Have a great week!

Wow! Soooo much love! I'll have to make sure I'm worthy (we all know she is, right? ) of it.
Good news is that we're out again. This time with another new med which should keep her heart in a normal rhythm all the time. We're both crossing our fingers and thank all of you for your time, words and "The SONG" we both love so much!
Going now to Sound Cloud and YouTube.
Thanks from two grateful and loving hearts!

Topic: Are You Passive-Aggressive On The Internet? (7 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
If so, then quit it! I catch myself doing it and I hate that about me most of all.
For example, I will read something about (or to) me that sounds critical and instead of writing back and asking what rattled his/her cage, I just ignore them altogether and that's just wrong.
One loses friends that way and it doesn't have to happen.
Bottom line: If I say something to ( or about) you which doesn't sound quite right, then for heaven's sake, call me out about it! More than likely it wasn't even meant as a criticism.
So don't be passive-aggressive, like me sometimes.
Okay????
OKAY!
