Hollow bodies and semi-hollow bodies.  Gibson ES-335 or one of it's many knock-offs, or something like a Gretsch Electromatic Hollowbody, or one of it's many knock-offs.

And a tube amp.   Thats what will make all the difference.

Rogers' interval pattern is for a major scale.  The 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes of that scale will result in a major chord.

Minor scales (and in fact all modal scales) will produce differing chords, based on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes as well.   Minor scales produce minor chords.   Dorian and phrygian scales also produce minor chords, for example, while lydian and myxolidan scales produce major chords.

All based on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th note of the scale.  Cool stuff!

Modern diatonic scales didn't come into vogue until the renaissance, but I would gather that if you have a decent understanding of scale theory, you should be OK.

Sounds like an interesting class!

The Jets surprised me!  The Sadhawks finally showing up and playing like I know they can did not.  smile

Packers looked really, really good.  The NFC title game is going to be good.  I think the Pack is -3 right now, which is basically a push.  As a guy that likes both Chicago and Green Bay, I'm going to pull for both teams.

Diminished it is!  Flattened 3rd and 5th.  Crazy jazz chords, man.

Because jokes about banjos are always funny.

I think you,re getting mixed up with acccordian players ,lol.

Might be.  All them guys look alike.

And while we're at it...

How do you know the drummer is knocking at your door?

It keeps getting faster, and the guy never knows when to come in!

Yeah that Seahawks game was highly unexpected, but hats off to them. They have no pressure on them so thats in their advantage, but when it's all said and done, I think The Pats win it all again.

Indeed.   As an aside, I'm glad Green Bay beat Phili.  In another "never gonna happen" scenario that I'm happy to be wrong about, if Green Bay beats Atlanta, and Seattle beats Chicago, the NFC Championship game is in Seattle.

Seattle actually has to win the Superbowl to finish the season with a winning record.  That's pretty awesome.  big_smile

Hi jerome, congrats on your team winning, did you win any money in vegas?

So here is the saddest tale of my life.

I'm sitting in the sports book at the Palms.  I'm looking at all the bets on the wall, and just kind of vegitating because I was really tired from the conference I was attending.   The line on the Sadhawks winning the Superbowl sat at 85:1.   The spread on them winning this game was -10.5 and had a number somewhere around +14,000.    The guy in the lounge chair in front of me is smoking a vile cigarette.    I say to myself, "Jerome, lets go to the buffet and get some prime rib."

So I did.

The end.

sad

Well I sure wasn't expecting that!

I love Rock Band.  Its way more fun than it aught to be, and there aren't too many games you can play with your kids that are fully cooperative rather than competitive.

It ain't gonna teach you a thing about guitars, though.

1st.  This is going to be an epic, EPIC contest.  These are two of the best football teams I can remember seeing in a long time.  I'm picking the Ducks, because I've been with 'em all year, and I'm a homer.   Either team could win, and no one should be surprised when one of 'em does.

Jerome's Couch Trip Analysis of Da Big Game:

The keys to this one rides on Auburns running game.   They way you stop Oregon's offense is to keep them on the sideline.   Auburn will lose a shootout, so for them, it's about ball control.   Auburn's leading rusher is their quarterback, though.  They don't really have a big dominant RB that can smash the ball inside.  Granted, Cam Newton is generally the best athlete on the field when he's playing, but I don't know if he can carry an Auburn team past a really fast, aggressive Oregon defense that has pretty much stated that they're going to chase him all over the backfield.

Anyway, my pick is Ducks by a touchdown in a relatively high scoring game.  If the Tigers can win the clock battle, they'll probably win the game.

There is no difference between a bass chord and a guitar chord, other than the missing two strings on the bass.  They're tuned identically.

I'm a thumb-wrapper, too.  I practice not doing it, but sometimes in the heat of the moment, it just wraps itself right on around.

There are alot of things that don't seem right with the NFL but I like the format and think it's for the best.

Yeah, as much as this year turned out all wonky, there really isn't another way to do it. If you're going to have divisional champions, the winner has to be represented no matter what.

Hey, wait, I have an idea.  Lets let the computers rank the teams and take a poll of reporters and coaches to decide the champion!  It can't possibly fail!  wink

No kidding. Imagine how Giants fans are feeling right now.  10-6 and you're out.   Out here in the weak west, 7-9 makes you the champion.

Sometimes it just ain't fair.

I'm embarrassed to see that my beloved Sadhawks are in the postseason with a losing record (7-9), something thats never been seen before.  As a testament to the sad state of affairs in the NFC West, though, it makes for a great gambling opportunity.   Vegas oddsmakers have the line on them winning the Superbowl at 100:1.  I'll be in Vegas tonight on business, so I'm putting a $10 bet on 'em, just for the lulz.   I fully expect them to get crushed by the 'Aints, but hey, that's why they play the games, right?

My Superbowl predictions.

New England (with Robot Tom Brady) over Philadelphia by 6.

In other news, surprising no one at all...

Stanford over VT  40-12 in the Orange Bowl.  smile

Oregon v Auburn is going to be an epic game.

We have WHL here in Seattle.  The Thunderbirds are the local team, and are really fun to watch.  This is the team that gave the world Patrick Marleau, so I used to watch him when he was little.

Scales trick:  Learn scaales based on the shape pattern, rather than the root.   If you learn one major scale pattern, you can effectively play all 12 major scales with it by simply moving that pattern down the neck.

That is to say, if you learn "C major" you might think oh man, now I have to learn 11 more "major" scales.  Rather, think  "I know the scale pattern associated with C major in the open position.  If I play it at the 5th fret, now I'm playing D."

There are only five things you need to know to play guitar.  C A G E and D.   smile
