if you guys capo 1 when playing in F you'll never have to play the dreaded b. Just saying.

Saw Joe Bonamassa at Pearl in the Palms casino Saturday night. If you have never seen this man perform, put it on your bucket list. In addition to being a complete monster on guitar, the guy is one of the best song arrangers I've ever heard in my life. Lots of extended jams, tempo changes, key changes, dynamics changes....my mouth was ajar the entire time. Four of the best musicians I've ever seen share a stage. Here's a taste of what they sounded like, although this was from a different performance:

do you need help with chords or rhythm or tone or what? First guitar part or second guitar part?

Beginning sounds like this:

G
C add 9

Verse
G for a while
then em

C (when the angels came)
D
G

That should get you close. I'm not sure if it's in G so you may need to capo or transpose.

I think that being active with a fly rod is a lot more relaxing than being sedentary in my desk at work. smile

I'll be out that way in a couple months. Last time I was out there I discovered William Clark Green. What a talent this guy has: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNtt9__CRMk

Your "Gurian" is my "Madeira." Those were an el-cheapo Guild import line made in the early 60's. I got one when I was 6 that I still play every day. I just found another on ebay for $200. It sounds great and the craftsmanship is awesome. I'd be heartbroken if I lost my Madeiras.

To Toot's point, he was nicely on top of the beat but maintaining a consistent quarter note until the fills right before the first solo. Both times he switched from hi hat to ride in the solos he pushed it a bit too much. On top of the beat with a consistent quarter note is cool....but he needs to make sure he stays in that pocket if he's going to use that kind of attack.

I thought the bassist did a good job trying to hold 'er back.

I mostly drop picks while playing electric...for some reason I don't have that problem on acoustic. Maybe 'cuz I'm up and jumping around like a moron on the electric. smile

I keep loads of spare picks in my back right pocket for that very reason....drop one? No biggie. Just reach back and grab a new one. Hard to do if you play sitting down though.

Actually ear plugs help you hear your head voice more vs. external sounds, not less. That's why singers sometimes plug their ears with their fingers when they are on stage. Case study: http://www.vocalist.org.uk/singing-with … -loss.html

For me it depends upon price point. If I'm buying el cheapo or a traveler, I just go in, play guitars in my price point, and pull the trigger. If I'm looking for a vintage or higher end instrument (as I am currently), I trust my favorite local guitar tech (who also techs for some well known national acts). He will (once I'm ready) go with me, look at an instrument and give it his blessing prior to my wasting thousands of dollars on a crapbox.

The problem might be one of not hearing your voice in your head adequately vs. the sound of the guitar and environmental noise. Try putting in foam earplugs. You'll hear a lot more head voice and a lot less external sound.

To Zurf's point, I came into a 71 SG when I was 21 and sold it when I was 23.
