I cannot see any difference with the font size.

Is it just in chrdie this is happening? is your resolution on your computer set properly?
is it in one or two songs or every song you go to?

Sorry,
thats the best help I can think of as I see no problem on my screen

I dont think it should get banned because it was wrote by an englishman that had never stepped foot on irish soil, if that is the reason it got banned. I am guessing they are using the excuse as it being depressing for not playing it. And it is true, what a depressing song, but that doesnt make it bad or a reason why it should be banned.
I bet this guy played it all the time until he found out it was not an irishman that wrote it. I bet the barman is not even irish himself but one of those ones that think they are irish because his ancestors came from ireland. There is too much of that! I think Born in america then you are american, their is no irish american stuff or scottish american or even african american.
So this guy has no right to ban it because of who wrote it, the englishman might even be more irish that this guy in new york.

And if he has banned this song then why has he not banned the other song they mentioned, Molly Mallone? great song but still all about death so it must be depressing too, this is why I am thinking this guy has banned it because of who wrote it.

And if he plays any "POGUES" then he better stop that too because the lead singer ( if not all of them) Shane McGowan and also being their main song writer is a Londoner, Only thing he has to do with Ireland came from his parents or grandparents. Shane is as Cockney as they come.
So this guy in New york will have to stop playing any pogues.
Also U2, cannopt play anymore of them anymore, those four guys no matter how great the band are cannot class themselves as irish anymore, they are not even humans anymore, people treat them like gods.
Hmmm, I tihnk this guy has no one else to play but the saw doctors, the dubliners, and a few other irish artists that I probably have not heard of. lol

But if it was up to me, I would ban Danny boy too. Not for being depressing, just because I dont like it lol

very good point there John,
I thought it was just me,lol.
I find it near impposible to play bass and sing, even though I was nominated singer for a band when i played bass. I only sang 4 out of 12 songs and got 4 other friends  to make "guest appearances" and sing the other songs when we played a gig.

I hope you are not using the word "jocks" referring to scottish people. I would have to take offence to that.

if you take the lyrics out I think  Metallicas concert with Michael Kamen and orchestra is just so, so, so, splendid.
Heavy rock music accopmanied by an orchestra.

Also all the music on Wish you were here by Floyd.

geez oh, there are so many pieces of music I love but those two will be in my top ten for arranged music

the guy got never got arrested he was taken in to the police station for questioning after he was singing it in the taxi. I think  that was last year or 2006. Because the driver heard him sing the words and thought he was going to blow up london or something silly.
But the song was not banned I dont think.

Hannah
I tihnk those lyrics are great,
I was playing about with power chords ( even though on an acoutic)
For each first line I was playing E  2nd line went to G, 3rd line A then the forth line I ran down the notes A,G, F#, E

But I really think this needs electric with distortion

good thread tron

I love the clash and I can understand why paul Simonon had inspired you.

I think the person that inspired me to play was probably clive williams from ac dc.
I started on bass guitar first.
Also, bruce foxton and bruce watson ( from the jam and big country)

I dont think anyone really inspired me to play the guitar.

but for songwriting, I am inspired from many and many different styles.
Ac/dc, syd barrett, roger waters, john prine, johhny cash, the corries, iron maiden, the pogues, eric bogle and a few others that I just canny think of right now.

tron I love the dubliners and saw doctors, wolfe tones I am not too fond of much.
But this song the soldier has nothing to do with being orange or green or even pinky sort of purple. It is a song about a soldier in the british army, not the orange lodge.

And if you are saying about "green" songs being the dubliners, they sing old style rebel songs not the terrorist modern rebel songs that I have heard the wolfe tones sing. in old style I mean their songs against the british army and their pro ira songs were based on before 1916, not modern day times, even though so many narrow minded people like to think or romantisise that it is. After 1916 the IRA were terrorists ( I might be wrong with the exact year there but thereabouts) after treaties were signed then they were no longer freedom fighters. I could go on for hours about this but it would make my blood boil when people think they know when they dont.

I also think it funny yet strange how a few ( or maybe a lot) americans that call themselves irish american think that it was ok to fund a terrorist group like the IRA, even the american government let their banks do it too until the 11th of september now know internationally as 9/11.
Now the government their made sure no terrorsit groups could launder money through any bank in the world. But if it were not for that day the ira would still get funds through this way and nothing would have been done.

I am not orange, protestant, green, catholic or a pinky and perky follower. I am for human life on earth no matter what colour, religion or beliefs.

ok, This has been editted twice now. I am sometimes bad with words, I am not looking for an argument about this nor a big heated debate. I just saw a post I was not happy with.

Ok, back to drinking my birthday wine.

All the best

Patrick, I am an ex smoker too and I dont really mind if people smoke in my company but i tell ye this amte. Since they stopped smoking in the pubs and clubs here pubs are a much nicer place to be in. Apart from feeling like an outcast when all yer mates go outside for a cigarette. And not forgetting with no smell of stale smoke ye smell everyone's farts and B.O instead. And also theres the stale smell of bevy that has been spilt over the worn down carpets.
Oh yes, niver place, lol.
You should not hate your country, instead of hating write a few songs about how you feel and release your inner feelings in a song.
Tom paxton done sme excellent anti establishment songs. Even though I am scottish I love anyone from any country that stand up for what they think, especially in songs.

Ken

Well I thought Ronaldo was getting passed it a bit but after last weeks game with Celtic and barca, I am changing my mind slightly, he is still very good. I tihnk people just expect too much out of him all the time, everytime.

the haterd between rangers and celtic is very sily indeed, so silly it caused me to stop going to celtic games years ago.
But now my son is getting that age where celtic footy team is more important than any other sport, I am finding myself taking him to the game on Wednesday to watch them play Inverness cally. After that I think I will be taking him to more and more, but never to a game where they are playing rangers. Then when he is old enough I can stop going again. All that money could buy a few guitars a year.
