They were remarkable woman.

Made of stronger stuff then us i feel. Lots of things came to mind reading this one. The expression " Housemaids Knees"
wooden washing boards. Me Dad once bought me Mam a glass washing board. lol can you imagine giving that as a gift now?
I love this nostalgic way of writing.

"I dont know about putting music to it though," This reminded me of this great song Phil. Another one of my favourites.

I wish i knew how to do the quote thingy all proper like!!   anyways this is what i wanted to do! Because i felt it so deserved it.

Quote/ Stretch Papa.

Hello all. I am rather new to Chordie and this will be my first post. I did not see a "poem" section so I chose to post it here. This is an old thing I wrote in my youth. (In my ripe old age of 31) Hope you like it. Comments welcomed. 8-)

Driving at dusk.Sunbeams barely making their way through the tree tops.
Clouds surrounded by sheets of light, highlighted by Gods own hand.

My mind is blank as the page I'm staring at. But the instant pen touches page.
Blue lines become ablaze. New lines are getting heavy weighted with words missing just moments ago.

Soon the lines cannot contain all the weight of words. Straining under intense pressure the lines become weak.
Bending and shaking, clinging onto the edges of the paper. Blue lines struggle to keep thought together.

Intense battle erupts in clouds of smoke, and ink spills from worn soldiers holding onto former glory!
This is why you were made! To hold.

Thought finds creativity and hand in hand, back to back, they fight!
As if it was the last stand.

They fight! Slashing, holding, straining, laughing, screaming, crying, hearts wrenched, widows made....words made silent.
Incomplete thought scattered abroad. Lines still hold! Strong words said. Lines still hold!

White paper clouded with ink. Lines still hold! Side of hand shows battle scars, smeared and stained from heat of struggle.
Lines still stand!

The war has spilled over from 2nd dimension to the 3rd.

Affecting the writer.

Moving him to action on behalf of creative thought.
The struggle, now over, has left him perplexed!

As he washes his hands ink fills the sink down to it's final destination.

Swirling into oblivion goes my mind and thought. The last and final thought of battle is the first thought of peace!!
Leaning over the sink, spent. I ask, How has he stood up to an onslaught of formidable foes, yet come out victorious?

Because his only job was to stand.

{End of }

Forgive this Old Doll "Stretch Pappa" for interfering with your post. { your youth of 31 } ?  Im gonna change my name to
Methuselah's Doll. lol
This is a fantastic piece of writing. Im old enough to remember ink and wee white school inkwells on our desks. Some of us got
the job of washing school inwells  out end of terms. I clearly remember the last of the ink mixing and washing down the sink.
How my wee hands  kept there tint of blue forsome time.

What a great image you portrayed here.  The absolute frustration of writers at times, writers frustration and writers  block.
Blue ink like the enemy! The power of words.
i felt frantic myself as i clung on to the words / pages/ and ink. I hope every writer here on chordie reads this piece. Also, become's as absorbed into it as i was. The feeling  i had was like reading  the first chapter of a  great book.

Great, Great, piece.

Welcome to Chordie.

Heres your cook book Zurf.

God left us great clues as to what foods help what part of our body!
God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All o f the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums.  Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears lol you may not need this Zurf lol?

target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this?  It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.   { Or this?

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts. { lol

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

Hi Cytania,

Yes! i do agree we still have a love of Ceól agus Cráic. We also encourage our children to do so.
This link will show you the kind of performers i have been privileged to sit among while at this festival over the years.
There are so many more not mentioned here.
My favourite  few minutes this year was listening to Dougie Maclean playing while a local girl sang his song Caledonia.
It was wonderful to see and hear.

My other favourite was my brothers 3 1/2 year old grandson sitting on his shoulders singing "Sunday  Morning Coming Down".
I kid you not ! But then the child is constantly listening to Kris Kristopherson as he is constantly with his Grandad..

Hi Dino,

Does your fear lie in the revelation to these people as to just how expensive this guitar Is ? and they maybe change there mind in giving it to you ?..
I have given many things away in my life, because i know the people in question needed or desired same for there own pleasure or need.

They are only possesions . We never own anything forever. Some one else is always gonna have what we consider ours now.
Your an honest person, i can tell by your posting here. So continue the honesty with them. Believe me this charactistic in a person is worth its weight in gold. They are wise and have lived a long time. They will find your honesty the payment for this instrument.

If fate has designed your name on it. Just be thankful, then in time, pass it on for no reward just as you recieved it.
There richness is not only in there age, but there giving. Praise be.

Long may you enjoy this guitar.

Hi Nela,

I understand exactely what your saying, in your privious post.  Please dont feel i missunderstand
you or Kapa. Its the obvious stupidity of people thats gets to me.    Some years ago a young guy took a pellet shot at me from a car while driving. I nearly died with fright, but remembered his registration.  It transpired he lived in my area and i knew his Mam and Dad very well.  I can tell you big lad as he was , his Father gave him a good old fashioned thrashing. He arrived with flowers and an apology.

I wonder also does this happen in your area ? you party, get a cab or designated driver to take you home.
Well now the Gardai here { Police } are stopping drivers from early the next morning. So many are stopped and done for
over the limit ? Recently here a Lady was taking her children swimming on a saturday morning. Her and her husband
has consumed 1-1/2 bottles of wine the previous evening in there own home.. She had had a nights sleep, but still showed
over the limit the next morning. She was fined

Yes i agree with you, where will it all end?  Back to the bikes i guess. then we could all end up like this guy.

Thanks Nela,

I take your point. My own Sons and family have handsets and navigational systems. This world of high teck gives me great pleasure also. But im not driving a couple of ton doing so.
How must your brain feel, if and when you get a call for a couple of million dollars. work wise ?.  Please dont tell me you stay cool
and have an easy clarity to concentrate on driving.
My son was driving when he recieved the news Linda his girlfriend had died. in a car crash, he was 3 hours driving away from home. To this day he doesnt remember driving back home. I do! i remember every second. I thought id never see his car come up my driveway.
My own sons pal wrote off his car and nearly his life 2 years ago. He seen his bosses name come up on his cell. answered it,
dropped the phone, Then  without thinking picked it up, He ended up in a ditch.  His boss rang the emergency units as he heard the impact.
i do feel handsets are a wee bit safer but id rather not have phones at all in cars.
As for the porno crew? i promise you i wouldn't be lenient in that situtation. Id have memorized the reg and informed the police.

The car aint a place for this stupity.

A family member and his wife are having the deaf gene removed scientificly to have some children with out profound deafness.
Isnt it a pity we cannot remove " The stupid gene" which a lot of drivers around the world have!

This is a link for a drink dont drive .  Graphic but powerful.

Ps. Thank you Kapa for the welcome back.  Its a long story as to why!  But it appears now with a very sad ending.
Life is precious.
Love from the Emerald. Keep the focus on your writing.
