I find out today that my New Orleans Saints will be facing the Arizona Cardinals who beat Green Bay today.
Those guys look pretty scary to me.

naoslager, mine is an FG350W made in the middle 70's. It is a huge dreadnought acoustic with a laminated top. It is a good player with low action and a big sound and it holds a tune as well as any I've seen.
I'm surprised to learn that it could be a copy.
A copy of what I wonder.

Ms. Lena, I can't believe you folks on the Emerald Isle have heard that song.
My band used to perform that one when it was rising on the country music top ten along with a really cheesy one that was a huge local (South Alabama Redneck Riviera) hit.

I enjoy two or three beers to put my brain in party mode when I play gigs. More than that bogs me down.
Normally, coffee and iced tea are the only stimulants I inbibe. Drunks and stoners find me to be dull company.

Driving in the U.K. in the left lane was not a real problem until my attention wandered. Then I would find myself easing into the right lane.
The British, Scottish and Irish drivers were super nice and polite to me. I am so glad I didn't kill any of them.

It's a C chord with a G in it and it sounds great sometimes when you alternate from C (with the added G) to G.
If you use your pinky on the first string 3rd fret for both chords it is a quick change and an extra fat sound. Cool!

I have been trying to convince my lovely niece, Phaedra, who graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music as a operatic soprano vocalist and pianist to take up guitar. I bought her one when she was in school but she resisted learning to play it.
Piano is a vastly superior instrument if you have one handy but a guitar is so much more portable.
After singing and dancing at Busch Gardens in Virginia and a stint in some Broadway shows, she married and settled down to teaching and playing  piano/organ in church as well as choir directing.
Her private vocal teaching would be easier if she could play guitar since most private homes lack a piano.
She bought a nice Epiphone acoustic and I showed her how to restring it. She knows most basic chord shapes but I was able to show her some short cuts like the four-string Bb, making G with her pinky on the first string-3rd fret (quick change to C) and how to wrap her thumb around the neck to play the 6th string on a barre F.
I really like the way Ms. Phaedra turned out.
If she pursues guitar like she did piano, dance and vocal, she will be a killer player in no time.

I bought a First Act mini-tuner and metronome at Wal-mart for $25. BIG MISTAKE! Darn thing could not tune lower guitar strings or bass - then it froze up and died after a few months.
My big old Korg GT-2 tuner I paid $25 for ten years ago can hear my acoustic, or take a plug-in for my electric and even hear my bass guitar and tuba.

I have posted before, if you sing and play (and as little guitar as I play I had better sing) putting guitar and vocals through a P.A. can be the way to go.
A 200 watt, four channel Peavey driver with built-in spring reverb makes vocals sound nice and the tens and horns in the speaker cabinets easily handle my Gibson 330 through it's Korg A-4 effects pedal and Casey's djembe drum.
I can go through our 24 channel Mackie board with a vocal processor and six 300 watt self-powered J.B.L. EON speakers for large venues.

Hi rocketflyer,
I can't write out all words and chords because that would violate forum rules but I can get you pointed:
The intro is in A minor (Am)
The lyrics are written in the video. I usually write out all lyrics in big black print and then go back and jot down each chord in RED over the syllable of the word where the chord changes.
Verse 1. Over the word 'once', the chord is Am, over setting, 'E', over lost, 'G' over days, Am.
Same chords repeat over the second half of the verse.
There follows a bridge with: E over "those", Am over the second syllable of "firebrand", E over "try",C over "way and E over "my way"
Verse 2 changes are Am,G,E,Am
Another bridge with changes: C,G,E,Am,F,E,Dminor,Am,Dm,Am,Dm,Am
F major seventh and E.
Verse 3: Am,G,E,Am repeat AmG,E,Am
Another bridge: C,G,E,Am,F and E
Bridge: C,G,E,Am,F and E
Verse 4 - same as Verse 3.
Outro: C,G,E,Am,F

Hi danspur,
I hear there are natural tempos that fit normal body movement of a person five to six feet tall.
I have found after 24 years playing in bar bands, that 120 beats per minute (marching tempo in the military) is a great tempo to get people up to dance. Your body moves in a natural rhythm like a pendulum do and 120 BPM makes you want to shake a leg. Many popular fast dance songs are 120 BPM ("Proud Mary", "Johnny Be Goode"). I bet you guys can think of many more.
It is the drummer's responsibility to establish and maintain proper tempo. My band fired a drummer for rushing. Guitar players are as bad or worse about rushing and any drummer worth his pay will rise up and smite any picker in the band that dares to rush or drag.

The doctor says, "I'm mad at my neighbor."

Barring all six strings, even on an electric guitar will give you a cramp right in the center of your palm sooner or later. If your hands are not super tiny, you can make a "cheater" F configuration and bring your palm right up to the back of the neck and curl you thumb over the top to mash the sixth string. If you can learn this you will have relief from cramping.

I have a Korg GT-2 I paid $25 for ten years back.
It is the best I have found for cheap.
When you change guitar strings, save the most recent set in case you break a new one and use the older strings to hang pictures. Two screw eyes and an old "A" string cut to length and that picture frame is up for good.

Hi, topdown,
I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Winter is max down here. The high never got out of the high forties. The lows for the next five days will be in the 20s. That sounds good to most of you guys but we are freezing in our houses up on pilings and our under the floor pipes are bursting.
There is a bar right at the Alabama/Florida border on the beach called the "Flora-Bama" ( surprise surprise) that closely resembles the "Bama Breeze" in the third Buffet song you posted. The joint looks like a car wreck located between two really spiffy condos. The last big storm pushed seven feet of salt water and beach sand over the place and they reopened a week later. Every guitar pickin' musician I know has played there for low wages and good tips.
More Buffet,
