Lovely Daddycool,

I was walking this morning at 7/30 on some farmland. Sun shining, rabbits running everwhere, sheep just lieing in the heat of the  early sun.  I disturbed a hen and cock pheasant feeding on the track. I did have my camera but, alas i wasnt fast enough. They were away into  the forest in seconds.. What a joyful way to start a day.

Love your song.

Hi,
Ive been scooting around this countryside of ours  for the last few days in a "Ducato Elnagh Duke".  Girletts quality time lol,
I have traveled a lot  in the last 20 years with groups of woman. Some of the groups were as big as 35 woman and some a small as 4. All in all ive had great times but, i have seen some predatory stunts played on the opposite sex by a few woman. I came to the conclusion a long time ago there are woman like this. These woman have absolutely no compassion for the male once they
set there sights.
I love all my female friends dearly. This doesnt mean i have to approve of there behaviour!  This song is about how i see some of them operate.
One simple sentence in  conversation  also was the inspiration for these lyrics.

Thank You for reading.

Mantis Womanby Helena Donovan   8/08

[G]She folds her legs adjusts her straps she[C] gives a pious look

[D7] She’s quietly perusing a [G] man that she can hook

[C] Her reproductive system she[G] uses for to claim

[A]To get a man is her plan she [D] plays the mantis game. [D7]

[G]It’s not that she is hungry or[C] wants to eat his head

[D7]She just wants a good time on the [G]town or in his bed.

[C]She panning like a digger she’s [G]banking on fool’s gold

[A]Curves are her best assets the [D] woman is the mould[D7]

[G]She is the praying mantis [Em] not every woman’s call

[Am]Her dignity can be primitive [D7] she’s always on the pull

[G]Her kisses will ensnare you [Em] her eyes allure sedate

[Am]Keep your head and secrets or she will [D7] decapitate.

In your [G] bed she’ll caress you; [C] softly set the scene

[D7]Has the generation gene of [G] many mantis queens

[C]Yes she will devour you; you [G]just may rue the day

[A]Be prepared to leave her bed let [D] legend have its way

[G]She is the praying mantis [Em] not every woman’s call

[Am]Her dignity is primitive [D7] always on the pull

[G]Her kisses will ensnare you [Em] her eyes allure sedate

[Am]Keep your head and secrets or she will [D7] decapitate.

[G] Keep your head and secrets so you [D] won’t end up [G] as her date.

Hi All,

I dont mean to sound like the grim reaper here but. I know theres lots of Mams and Dads here on Chordie with small kids.

Today again i was at a funeral. It was a 3. 1/2 year old Girl.  My sons friends child. She toppled a wide screen Tv down
over herself.  What ever way it caught her she died instantly.

It was on one of these stand things.  Please please make sure yours is secured, as wee children get into all kinds of spaces.

This wee song was inspired by a gift i received recently in the post. It was a  tiny beautiful replica of a dome shaped church in Portugal.  Sent by Roger Guppy. I love  architecture . Old buildings have stories to tell. This Dome is in a market place,so i would expect it gets loads of visitors. I have left a link at the bottom for you all to see it. I tried to write the song from my own inner sanctum and the spirit that any church of any religion holds for me.

The song is finger picked quietly. Capo on the second fret. I do apologise for format. I just never seem to get it right!

Lordy lord,

Ciarán Bourke having a drink ! lol Some one regularly puts a bottle of Guinness on his grave.

His burial plot is near my own Mams.
Ronnie had a very moving and memorable service today.

The Parting Glass /sung by Elenor Shanly.    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jtc5oOxLjvY  This is a great ole song for most repertoires

Arthur O’Shaughnessy’s  poem "We are the Music Makers"

Just a closer walk with thee.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWxVrX7WH08

Just a few from the service for those interested.

Bursts of applause and lots of toe tapping stuff. His love of music was not only ballads. He also loved Jazz, He was a very accomplished classical and Flamenco  player too.

He sure will be missed. "Dia Linn Agrá".

Old Doll.

Ahhhhhhhhh Flester,
We have lost another great entertainer.  I got a call on Saturday  in the North to say he'd passed RiP.  Just today i sang "The ould Triangle" along with Ronnie on the radio.
The first time i encountered Ronnie Drew was the late sixties early seventies.

I was introduced to him in The Royal Hotel in Howth. They {The Dubliners } were doing a show their. The first of hundreds i went to over the years.
Ronnie with his razor sharp wit, and ould gravelly voice. He had the most bluest enquiring twinkling eyes and a great laugh.  His eyes were always at play , they seemed to stand out more because of his big ole beard. I remember me Ma blessing herself all through that show, as Ronnie had the habit of throwing in a odd eff or bejasus out of him..
There music along with others carried us through the troubles to keep optimism strong in our hearts for peace in this then so troubled land.
Luke Kelly never failed to move me to tears, so emotive was his singing.  He was another great loss to us..
My heart goes out to Barney, John, and Patsy. They have lost another great dear lifelong friend.   Patsy is another great Entertainer. He was also a  neighbours child. My sister just recently spoke to  Patsy and Barney in Holland. at a show.
Those  times for me were magical , we were so full of hope for the future, and so circle of life goes on .

May God enfold them all in the musical mantle of his love.

Hi James,

One can have butter fingers or twiddle their thumbs. Drag there feet or put them up!

But get the finger out to use good ole fashioned elbow grease, is one of the greatest satisfactions in life.

You did a great job with the Elbow Grease, no blues attached at all. lol
