Hey Folks

Kinda late again, ain't I? I'm sure sorry 'bout that, but we got ourselves an ailin' woman at the homeplace and that thar's kept me jumpin' like a one-legged paper-hanger!

Since this is country flavored, Ah, thought Ah'd write like this here.

This time we gotcha'll a couple of versions of "Luther's Boogie", that ol' Johnny Cash Classic.

The first one ah got is the original and the second is by Marty Stuart which is kinda country rock.

Y'all pick out which one y'all lahk the best, a'wight?

Thank ya' and we love y'all! smile

Beamer, Yes, my friend it did, and I answered, but since it was another type of thing than "Soundcloud", it may not have gotten through and I'm sorry about that, I don't remember that much (due to my dang Alzheimer's - sorry) but I heard you "shredding" (is that what it's called, or correct me if I am wrong) and there was a portion of a song I liked. I apologize if you didn't get my remarks, but the site you chose was really tough to navigate.

Sorry, my friend that you didn't get my comments.

In my spare time (very little) i've been working on this one. It's played in Em and just about all the chords are minor ones as it's kind of a "sinister" song, but it's supposed to rock a la Alice Cooper's or Warren Zevon's style. It should start with something like "I Am Iron Man" with plenty of feedback and computer noises.

===========================================================================

"Dinner is served, Sir" said my robot as he dropped it on the  table
Never had he done this, and in my brain I heard "disable"!
But too quickly he rolled away to do his programmed work
I just sat there and thought about this disturbing quirk.

Strong lead guitar playing 3 minor chords to lead into the next verse

[Spoken] Isaac Asimov wrote the laws: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Chorus

"Don't cross the robot", my friend he said to me
What's that mean I asked and he only said you'll see
Don't ever say the wrong word  or give the wrong command
He'll wreck your home, he'll kill your love and your destruction's close at hand

Don't cross the robot!

I pondered and I wondered what started "Bob's" (that's what I call him) mistakes
Breakfast was a runny egg and he ruined my birthday cake
It was now that I remembered what my friend said to me
And I began to fear him standing there..........!!!!! Eyes aglow..........and staring straight at me!!!!!!

(Draw out the above words so that the two "me's" won't be so obvious)

What had I said what had I done to freak him out so bad?
What did he hear, what did he see that made his circuits mad?
And then it hit me: Lee my love had whispered once in the heat of love
Found the words which set him off : "Oh God"

Repeat Chorus

Robots have no concept of a greater divinity
Asimov was their father and an atheist was he.
He programmed all the robots to react to a  mention of "God"
And destroy all they could see.

So...... (chorus) and fade

================================================================

I wrote this during mine and my wife's many hospital stays a few months ago. Does it make sense to you?
Would you be willing to give it a shot on your guitar?

Thanks

........ happening with my Chordie friends!

I just came back from TIG'S Soundcloud page. And was impressed with "Country Singer Blues" - Strong  and righteous work with that one, especially the lyrics and I left a comment for ya. smile

Peatle's done a very righteous blues tune that y'all need to check out on his Soundcloud page!  Pete, "the blues is/are your muse". Comment left. smile

Y'all know I don't use righteous all that much, but those two tunes just touched me.

Okay: I'm still trying to catch up on everyone's music so I can comment, but my time is kinda short these days as I am still taking care of my Dondra and doing my "house chores" which I have grown to love! wink

So don't worry if you don't see me here very much and keep favoring us with your music, we both love to hear y'all sing and play and I will  try to respond as I can, okay?

Our love and admiration to all of our friends here!

Bill and Dondra Craig

I enjoy teasing her that you are her "boyfriend" living in Portugal and it always brings a smile and a blush to her face when I say that. I guess you can tell there is not a hint of jealousy in either one of us, so I didn't mind at all that  you and I didn't speak this time. I am sure there'll be other opportunities.

The important thing is that you cared enough to call and check on her/us, and that just thrills both of us to no end.

Also, right now, Doug and I are spending time on the phone and e-mail trying to solve this Home Theater problem of mine. What makes it so difficult in not the amount of wiring, but where it goes. We're dealing with a donated older model Home Theater system, so Doug has been a godsend to me due to my short-term memory problem. I have made so many notes about what to hook up where I have to number them (the notes). Doug deserves a medal for his boundless patience and has already earned my gratitude for hanging in there with me.

Anyway, these two instances as well as the music for my wife are just a few of the examples if why I consider us a family of which I am proud to be a member.

Thanks

Bill

I knew you were kidding, Mo'! smile Have a great weekend, my friend. smile

THAT is the quintessential, beautiful,  ALL-AMERICAN FAMILY right there, my friends, about to embark on a new adventure! I can see the pride on Mom and Dad's face with no problem at all!

Thanks for posting this great pic, Scott and best wishes on the move to Washington!

Bill

Doug and I spent some time on the phone tonight talking about our joint project (hooking up my home theater system over the phone) tomorrow, and it was a most enjoyable conversation, my friend. Thanks for allowing us to get to know each other and Semper Fi!  smile

Bill

Hey, Mo'. You may not be a rocket scientist, but you're close enough for rock 'n roll, my friend! smile

".....bill went all Donald trump on me....."

Oh, now that cut to the quick, right there, Mo'smile

NEVER thought of that!  Of course that would be better than chasing that flashlight all over the house! wink

Now I just need a way for me to be able to tell I'm wearing the doggone thing! smile smile smile

Thanks, Doug

I know, isn't it? Not even my family and friends in Germany call to check on her. It would be nice to hear a voice from over there, but all we get is e-mails. Thanks again, Roger you and the "Family"..... well, there's just no comparison.

MUST remember.......... FAMILY-ORIENTED  website......... Must not........ call Mo' a name which begins with "a"........!!!!

There's one on the back of the tv which is also plugged into the back of the cable box. On the SIDE of the TV is another HDMI input, but it has never been used. NO HDMI on the back of the home theater system. Thank you, jerome.

Man! That's the biggest Didgeridoo I have ever seen, my friend, and I have seen a few due to the instrument's being one of my favorite primitive ones. Tangerine Dream have been a favorite of mine as well ever since I heard them on the film "Sorcerer".

Loosely defined, I know "ambient music" means it's just there: you can listen intently or not - whatever's your pleasure, but I am hesitant to "pigeon-hole" these fine musicians in that way. Maybe being a fellow musician has a lot to do with that, TF, but I find myself listening to all the nuances that my "addled brain" will let me discover and I found many of such instances in this selection, my friend.

As I was listening, I couldn't help but wonder what (I Can't Get No) "Satisfaction" might have sounded like on the Yirdaki instead of the fuzz-tone guitar. I know: you'd need more than one to get the pitch needed, but it might be fun to hear.

Thanks, for sharing this one with us, my friend!

Bill

Yep, that's right, friends and neighbors! It happened just minutes ago while I was working on my Home Theater System --- I heard my wife's voice pitch upward a notch or two as if she were happy to hear from someone, but I just continued working thinking it was someone local ---- but nooooooo! It was that "sneak" Roger calling to speak to Dondra and her alone!!! ;)

:) :) :) Of course you know I'm only kidding with you, my friend, but both of us appreciate your telephone call and your concern for the both of us. "She Who Must Be Obeyed" was thrilled to get a call all the way from Portugal from our friend who, along with all of the rest of you Chordians have come to mean so much to us! Every day I see a smile on that pretty face is another day we've managed to keep her illness at bay and you (Roger) and the rest of the "Family" have certainly stepped up more times than anyone should be asked to and we appreciate it SO MUCH!

Dondra says good night to you, my friend and good night to all your "babies" as well. I say I'm very grateful to have such caring and loving friends to be with me when I need them!

Love Y'all

Bill and Dondra

Hi Doug, and thank you very much for your offer to help - it looks like I will need it. Please check your e-mail. smile

Right now, I am at the point to where I can hook some cables up, but the coloring on the tv where the cables go in looks different than the coloring on the pdf manual you linked. smile In other words, the tv shows (from top to bottom) white, red, yellow and the pdf picture shows red yellow white. Also, I have a little square of 4 inputs right next to a rectangle of 6 and there's a place to hook up an orange coax, and I don't have that kind of cable yet.

My short-term memory loss is a major obstacle as well. I think I've left my flashlight in the "wrong" room about 10 times now. smile smile smile

Anyway, if you'll please check your chordie mail maybe you can help me out a little better than me doing it alone.

Thanks, my friend

Bill

And if so, would you mind giving me some generic instructions to hook up mine to my smart tv (Sharp)?

Today we were given someone's old theater system which features as its receiver a 5 disc dvd changer and a 5.1 surround sound system (http://www.amazon.com/Kawasaki-5-DVD-Ho … B0000E1RG1).  The system itself is now obsolete. Hence my asking for "generic, one size fits all" instructions. If such a thing can be done.

I just need to know how get from point A to point B with the cable box in the middle of the set-up. I am sure that 20 years ago, I could have set this thing up in  less than 24 hours, but so far all I have been able to do is mount the speakers - I can hook those up to the back of the receiver with no problem, by the way  when the time comes - but Dondra is all excited about being  able to watch movies, so I want to do the best job possible for her.

I appreciate any help you all could give me with this. smile

Thanks

Bill

HAHAHAHAHA! smile smile smile

What a great way to express our feelings for each other and our music, TF, thanks SO much.

Looking at it a second time, I see it is printed on what looks like "parchment", which leads me to ask if this "notice" might appear in poster size?  If so, could you let me know where it may be obtained?  It would look great displayed in our music room.

You know, I'm one of those "what if" kinda guys and a couple of days ago I asked myself, "What if, we hadn't/didn't have our friends on Chordie to help us get through these tough times? What then?"

To answer y'all: My tendency toward self-pity may have led me back to the "drink" which I left about 8 years ago, so you see my friend, we have much to be grateful to all of you for, and there's many times when my thoughts lead me to my "family" and what they might be doing at any given time of day. smile

Thanks, my friend, for the e-mail and all you and the rest of the family have done for us.

I put that word in quotes up there because to call me a "reviewer" would be a gross over-statement.Be that as it may, I write about what "feels" good to me to hear and what my poor ol' brain processes to be the meaning of  your work. I hope y'all know that I *DO* listen to all the tunes that I comment on and I try my best to keep up with everything written and performed.

Sometimes, though, I tend to lose my place and you may find a comment *out* of place, meaning it may be meant for the song either just before or just after on your playlists. If that happens, would y'all please excuse me and figure out which comment goes with which tune? Either that or drop me a line and I will re-listen and rewrite.

Also, I know I have a lot of catching up to do, but I'll get there eventually. wink If you've noticed, I'm taking each musician's work one at a time on one night and I'm hoping that by doing that, not only will I get the comments written, but also become familiar with your styles.

Thanks also for taking the time to *read* those comments and for knowing they come from the heart and from one of your biggest fans.

Thanks

Bill

First of all, I know I need to write some e-mails and some comments (Pete, I have not forgotten you), but this is really the first opportunity I have had to sit down and write something at length, so please excuse my not writing sooner.

Roger,  "She Who Must Be Obeyed" wants me to thank you for the song and video featuring your Bella. We were both very moved while watching and listening to you sing. It was especially appropriate because about a week ago we lost our Bert (our 7 year old cat) due to feline diabetes. The disease "snuck up" on us and we believe we missed it because Dondra and I were so busy with trips back and forth to the doctor and the hospitals. Also, the animals feel stress the same way we do and all that pressure we were under couldn't have done Bert any good.

Anyway, we loved seeing your Bella frolicking in the fields and playing with her buddies. We know she's sick, so we wish the best for the both of you, my friend.

Dondra also wants to thank you for the phone call of a couple of days ago. Unfortunately it came at a time when she couldn't answer and she wants you to know to please call back anytime. (Check e-mail for the best time)

==========================================

Jim, I got your e-mail and we both thank you for thinking of us, Buddy. I can always count on you and the others in the family to check on us if it happens to be a while between posts. I love that you all do this, and if you'll continue reading below, those good thoughts and prayers are working for us, my friend! smile

=========================================

Finally some great news to share with all of you: Dondra is feeling much, much better after the pacemaker was reset (80 beats per minute at this time) and some of her meds have either been titrated down or eliminated altogether.

"How much better, Bill?!!", I can hear you asking. Well here we go:

1. She can get to her restroom by herself, so I don't have to worry about her falling

2. She is up doing a little housework (laundry, sweeping to name just 2)

3. She's cooking small meals for the both of us and here comes the best one of all:

4. She's driving short distances with me as the navigator and watching for other cars.

Not to worry, boys and girls: I'm always very close by and watching her intently just in case. Even though she says I don't have to, I still only sleep lightly at night and get up with her, but she does fine going to the restroom without her cane or walker and I am so proud of her.

Also, I know enough to not be lulled into a false sense of security and I am always mindful that she's had a stoke which is known as "evolving", so I make doubly sure she doesn't overdo.

=============================================

Isn't that great news, Chordians? And I credit all of you for taking us "under your wings" and showing us how much you care with your songs, your constant verbal support, your telephone calls, your thoughts and prayers and just your overall love and kindness. Neither of us has ever experienced such a wonderful thing from people whom we have never met and we know to always treasure what you have done and are doing for us.

We love all of you very much!

Hey Hey!

Unless the tall hooded guy with the scythe comes to take me away, I will always be here with the rest of my family. I do go MIA sometimes, but that is because that pretty Southern Belle needs me.

Don't know how it happened,, but everyone's charisma just penetrated the ether, and here we all are: the " Our Gang"  of the guitar/stringed instrument world.

Y'all mean the world to us.

First of all, dear Amy, than you very much for the  song! We used it as our wake-up song this morning and got out of bed (I get to sleep in the same room, but not in the same bed!  smile ) The nurses who inundate us also loved it and one even commented on your style (she loved it). I didn't get a chance to ask if she were a musician, but I will next time I see her.

Anyway, you're a hit at Higgins Cardiac Rehab!!! smile

Speaking of which, this place is more like a Spa than a hospital. We start every morning with physical therapy (much groaning from "She Who Must Be Obeyed") and our therapist is more of a coach with the loud voice to match. Occupational therapy is next, followed by Breakfast, meds and a bath, after which a beautician comes in twice week to do Dondra's hair. ("We use real shampoo and real water!").

Good natured groaning is heard whenever another nurse/therapist comes in but we know to appreciate all that is being done for us and have established a great rapport with everyone.

Nutritional class is next, and so on, interspersed with meds every 4 hours. Yours truly also participates in most of the activities as I will be doing them with her when we get home in two weeks.

Again, Amy - many thanks from the both of us for keeping us on your mind and favoring us with your beautiful voice! MORE, MORE please!

Your friends,

Bill and Dondra
