Well, if you're looking for a copy of the song itself, it appears you can get it on a free/"pay what you think it's worth" basis HERE. That site also appears to have links to buy the music on iTunes and Amazon, as well as the band's own site.

Another site I stumbled across while trying to work a little "google fu" said that the song was in the key of G, but didn't offer up much else in the way of information (plus it appeared to be a membership site, so that ended my search right there)…

Perhaps some other folk can help you further than I. Good luck, and welcome aboard!

I appreciate the kind words, and the tip on "Radioactive Toy" - I was not familiar with it.

Oh, my goodness...

Well, here's hoping that all gets straightened out without much more hassle, and that she's home relaxing soon.

You make sure to take care of you in the interim, Bill.

Continued good juju y'all's way.

A is for Anthrax

I didn't want to go out in that field with them
but you said it was cool

I went out there and even petted some
you took me for a fool

And now I've got this awful stuff
on my face and my hands and my neck

The doctor said it's getting worse and he can't stop it

Thanks

IMO, we needn't have to "master" it - as long as there's a disclaimer that "volume levels may vary over the course of the album" (just as the talent levels will vary over the course of it wink )...

We do, however, need someone with a bandcamp account who'd be willing to do the assembling of songs - everybody would send 'em, and that person would upload 'em as a "Various Artists" album.. No mastering, tweaking, nothing, just post 'em up "as is"!

Criminy.

Good juju y'all's way, Bill.

Not as crazy as it seems, Bill - it could be done on Bandcamp. Price it at whatever you (the editorial "you") think is fair, or you can even make it so that the customer can pay whatever they want/think is fair...

Huzzah!

Looks GREAT!

Cungratchamalayshums!

Agree with them above - get thee to a luthier, pronto! Andale!

You don't say what it is about your beater that "...is more enjoyable to play than my Martin" but I will assume it's prob'ly the action, which any halfway decent professional will notice and be able to fix, tout suite. If it's sumpin else, you may have "some 'splainin' to do" to make it clear to him...

If it can't be adapted to your liking, you have a pretty lovely 'trade chip,' as they say in baseball... cha-ching!

And, as with what them above says, Welcome Aboard

Funster-

I agree that many of the others (well, Banks, anyway...) might've been worried ol' Pete was heading 'round the bend for good. Heh.

Personally, I think Trick and Wuthering are quite good, actually. "Squonk" may well be my favorite Genesis track ever. After Hackett left, though, so did I, purchasing-wise. I came back for Duke (really underrated, IMO), and saw the accompanying tour with Chester on drums and Mr.Stuermer on guitar and bass. Left again when "Half a Slab" (our pet name for Abacab) came out - BLERG. stayed away after that - preferred Phil's work with Brand X by then...

Eno/DEVO/Heads: I really like alla these groups / artistes - and it was around this time ('77? '78? so hard to pin down exactly) that I started getting into Throbbing Gristle big time. Already being a BIG fan of the Residents/Zappa/Beefheart/Tuxedomoon/Chrome and Gong, Van der Graaf, Kraftwerk, et al made this an easy transition.

Ahh... good times, man... good times...

Bruce -

Thanks for the quick replies! I had a feeling that your John Denver love was attached to some youthful event, and the story of the Air Force pilot with the cassette deck was delightful! I wonder if most of us don't have similar reasons for some of our musical choices that would otherwise seem... "odd."

So, a Southerner would call you a Northerner and vice versa, eh?  Heh.
What would you say is the prevailing accent in Derbyshire / Ripley?

Cool that you're going to see Marr - I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous - glad I could steer you (truth? Google steered me) toward the gig... of course, we'll expect a writeup of the evening afterward.

Me? I live in Richmond, California, which is across the Bay from San Francisco. We (the missus and the cat and I) moved here in October of last year from Chicago - me for the second time (I was raised [but not born] in Northern California), she (the wife) for her first (the cat? She lived with me in LA before we [the cat and I] moved to Chicago).

Phew.

Thanks, Bruce

I have a coupla questions - initially for Bruce, but as it goes along, perhaps one of our other UK Chordiers/Chordites/Chordsmen/Chordulators/Chordists/Chordswomen/Chordutrons could answer...

Bruce: Why, specifically, John Denver? Is it that his music resonates with a certain period in your life? It's interesting to me that an Englishman would be so into the late Mr. Denver...

Speaking of Englishmen (this is open to the panel), Derbyshire is considered part of the Midlands, yeah? Wikipedia tells me it's Amber Valley, East Midlands. So, does that mean there's a West (...or North or South) Midlands? I mean, I get it that a resident of that area would not be considered a Northerner, at least not defined in the way I've come to learn it (Yorkshire, yes?)...

And, if the above is correct, where does Manchester fall into that scheme (Midlands/Northern)? I know that a Mancunian would be angry being called a "fookin' Scouser"...

FYI: Back to Ripley, Derbyshire (and the surrounding/nearby areas) - Johnny Marr (formerly the guitarist for the Smiths, in case anyone's been livng under a rock or in a cave the last 30 years…) will be playing live this Friday, the 10th, at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham (LINK) if yer interested...

I guess that's it - any replies are appreciated.

Good luck gettin' your band together, Bruce - and make sure that when you do, you post up some of the songs here!

P.S. - I cannot tell you how much the "preview" button is your friend big_smile Especially when using an iPad (as opposed to a desktop or laptop 'puter).

I was having a helluva time the other day on my iPhone with ads in the middle of the page... specifically, I was reading the forums (or trying to read 'em...), I was not trying to access any songs, so I don't know if that counts.
