Mojo - another superb one!  You sound so much like Guy Clark on this one.  I kept waiting for a little chorus in there somewhere.  I bet this stuff  happens all the time.  I still can't believe that with your style, voice and playing abilities that you aren't signed to a contract by some recording company !  You are special Mojo !  Jim

thanks Jim , thought  about a chorus but nothing ever came to me that i liked , maybe i will come up with something and add it  later

WARNING  a couple of bad words sprinkled here and there in this one, nothing you wont here on tv these days
story about a redneck Saturday night

https://soundcloud.com/mojo01/ballad-of-saturday-night

G
well i was sitting there at the stop and go
C
drinking beer listing to the radio
G
wondering what to do on Saturday night
C
wifes pissed off we had another fight
G
thought i would ease on over to the caraban club
C
shoot some pool maybe get some grub

D   G

so i jumped in my truck and headed to town
with a 6 pack of beer and a bottle of crown
i was headed south just taking my time
theirs lots of lawmen here hwy 59
i get in enough trouble with those old bar fly's
last thing i need is one more  DWI

just as i pulled in to the parking lot
some ass hole cut me off and took my spot
was an old beat up truck with whiskey dents
some big boned girl wearing leopard prints
had a cigarette hanging from her lip
tobacco in her teeth from her last dip

well she got out the truck and said you want some of this?
flicked the ashes off her smoke a blew me a kiss
with her hands on her hip in them leopard skins tights
she looked pretty good in my one good head light
at this point i wasnt sure what to do
if she jumps in my truck ell i know I'm screwed

so hell i locked the doors and rolled up the winder
she walked on over and leaned on the fender
set her beer down right  there on my hood
reached in her pocket      oh hell this cant be good
pulled out her and flipped me the bird
said why dont you get out the truck you little turd

well by now we were attracting a crowd
it was obvious this that ole gal was ploughed
i had no intentions of getting out of my truck
man what a night just my luck
well i was thinking it was for me to go
before someone saw me that i might know

so threw my old truck in reverse
wouldnt you know things just a little worse
there were cars backed up to the road
i was stuck no where to go
with home still standing in my grill
cars to back i about had my fill

i may have been a little drunk and some what miss guided
but i had mad up my mind and i had decided
the only way out was to run that heifer  down
hit the road and get the hell outta town
so revved my engine a time or two
yelled get out of the way if know whats good for you

well you know it was right about then
but who shows' up but a couple of lawmen
one was tapping on my window glass
while the other was trying to arrest her ass
but she wasnt going with out a fight
looks like somebodies going to jail tonight

well they tried to cuff her but didnt phaser her
they got her attention when they hit her with that tazer
she hit the ground like a ton of bricks
she was flopping around like a dog scratching ticks
and it seems the cops had forgot about me
they were pretty busy with their new detainee

well it looked like luck was on my side this time
as i eased on past the scene of the crime
now i dont want any one to misconstrue
as i left the parking and pulled on to the avenue
this time i have really learned my lesson
with strange women i should not messing

i can understand people that dont bother to vote.
I have never felt anyone represented my views,so politicians dont represent me.
i usually vote for a minor crazy party just to be able to say that i exercised my right to vote.
being a straight white working class bloke i feel even less represented nowadays.

another thoughtful piece Pete.

This is so true.   However in America this is how such a donk of a person like trump was elected.

He played to the white ignorant vote, stirred up racism to a terrible new high and surly will be ranked in the top 5 worst presidents in history.

I’m not real thrilled with Biden, but what were the alternative options?

As you say, why vote?  I voted, but not real happy about what was there.  It was a game of the lessor of two evils.

Wow Beamer name calling people you dont agree with is really unproductive. It assumes there is only one right way and that is yours.
it seems people on the left are best at this but by no means have a monopoly.
(maybe i should have said MINOR party in my statement.)

Easybeat very observant on the name calling thing  , generally you find the insults start when they have no logical argument against what some is doing or saying  so they are reduced to name calling.

Beamer , lol being a donk supporter i disagree top 5 in my opinion and personally question the sanity of any one who would vote for biden or hillary ( and that includes my daughter and son inlaw ) but thats just me and the bourbon talking lol change my mind

nice poem Peat, having done some travelling my self , countries where religion rules, countries where dictators rule and of course  the good old  USA where i am not sure who is ruling right now. i could make some observations but being sober at the moment i will keep my political opinions to my self .
again good writing

when the falling down liquid get to my son (and he can put them away) he will tell me to get my guitar out and "give us a tune dad." my reply is " i am an artiste and i only perform for money." which is a lie as i'm happy to play at the drop of a hat but not to family or when i'm drinking or when i'm sober!
my advice: get your excuses ready before hand

could not have said it better

Unfinished Business By Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

[D] Well I saw you last evening, as I

cruised down an old memory lane

and I [G]thought to myself, that my life

will [D]never again,be the same

there’s [A]words inside I’ve rarely spoken

and [G]bonds of love that can’t be[D] broken

.

Chorus

Well I’ve[G] got myself, unfinished [D]business

Just[A] thinking about it , makes me wanna [D]cry

Yeah I’ve [G]got myself unfinished [D]business

‘cause I [A] never got the [G]chance to say [D]goodbye.

Yeah I’ve [G]got myself unfinished [D]business

Even [A]though I knowmy love will never [D]die

Well I’ve[G] got myself, unfinished [D]business

And [A] all my life I’ll [G] always wonder [D]why

.

Verse 2

[D]I’m missing the good times we had together

and the ways you always found to make me smile

I’m [G]holding on to the good times we shared

knowing [D] that I loved you all the while

oh[A] I know you’re happy wherever you are

You’re [G]out of sight, but never out of my [D]heart

.

Chorus

Well I’ve[G] got myself, unfinished [D]business

Just[A] thinking about it , makes me wanna [D]cry

Yeah I’ve [G]got myself unfinished [D]business

‘cause I [A] never got the [G]chance to say [D]goodbye.

Yeah I’ve [G]got myself unfinished [D]business

Even [A]though I knowmy love will never [D]die

Well I’ve[G] got myself, unfinished [D]business

And [A] all my life I’ll [G] always wonder [D]why

.

outgo

Well I’ve[G] got myself, unfinished [D]business

Just[A] thinking about it , makes me wanna [D]cry

Yeah I’ve [G]got myself unfinished [D]business

‘cause I [A] never got the [G]chance to say [D]goodbye

‘cause I [A] never got the [G]chance to say [D]goodbye

had this line floating around for awhile "twisting in the wind" , and this morning while some big thunderstorms rolled through this is what came out. just wish i had it ready to record while the thunder was going on think it would have sounded cool in the back ground . any way hope you enjoy it

https://soundcloud.com/mojo01/twisting-in-the-wind

as requested pretty simple three chords and a cloud of dust
capo on third fret

Am          F                     C
blank pages staring at me
guitar hanging on the wall
i cant seem to find a reason
i cant seem to think at all
this broken heart may never mend
you left me twisting in the wind

there's no words i want to write
there's no song i want to play
some times things just dont seem right
some times words get in the way
well you though you had a friend
but they left you twisting in the wind

i sat and waited in the dark
closed the blinds and shut the door
a broken dream right from the start
it lays scattered on the floor
we though we would make it to the end
but we were twisting in the wind

outside the sun is shining bright
clouds are gone there's no more gray
take away this darkest night
spread your wings and fly away
no more reason to pretend
no more twisting in the wind

ok more bad limericks kind of a Shakespeare meets DR. Seuss meets ....well me
my apologies in advance

to pee or not not pee
underneath yon oak tree
this the question that i ask of thee
i am in a quandary as you can see

should i pee from my front stoop
most certainly i should not poop
among the bushes should i pee
i think not for thorns there be
should i pee along the fence
to mark my land and leave my scent
should i simply pee on the ground
or in the grass to make no sound
where to pee i must make a stance
for if i wait to long i will pee pants

Mojo that is brilliant made me laugh  your real good.
To bee or not to be a honey bee circling my tea under the shade of an old oak tree.
With Shakespeare in hand.
I heard the owner of the proper tea.
Yelling at me.
That is no place to have a pea.
Leave my  old oak tree.
Get of my property.
With the words of Shakespeare ring in my ears.
To bee or not to be.
Or was it.
To pea or not to pee.
I heard  Paul Mack Cart A Knee voice,
singing let it bee
or was it  let it pee.

to rhyme with tea
i must disagree
it very easy as you can see
now i, am no poet wanna be
of this i am sure we all agree
so got to the garden and have your tea
beneath shade of any old tree
but keep an eye  for honey bees
they may fly into your tea

sorry couldnt help myself

why is it  when my friends ask me to learn a new song for our annual get together it never fails to requires the vocal range of Roy Orbison and the chords are a bowl of alphabet soup?
i am three chords and a cloud of dust with a mono tone  vocal range , they best really be hammered when they ask me to play it . just saying

if it snows that stretch down south wont ever stand the strain. just a line from one of my all time fav songs

guess you could  but it was a crew from Alabama  who repaired our line today after 5 days in the dark

here in South Wales we don't see much snow but over the last week or so we've had minus temps. I remember it being cold when i was a kid, rivers 200 feet wide freezing up, black ice etc, but i don't remember it being as cold as it is now...so what happened to global warming?

i recall in the 70,s it wasnt global warming there was a new ice age coming

goes to show dont believe everything they tell you
