Hi!

I gave my guitar (Fender Stratocaster) to a guitar seller... Because he already told me that my guitar needed new fret, which was right.

But! Today I received my guitar back, with the "new" fret, but I'm not really happy, I'm not sure he did his job well. (I didn't tell him... I want to be sure I'm right)

The frets looks like the "worn fret" on the picture below.
They're brilliant and look new, but when you look closely it's totally flat, like if someone polished the fret.
The sound?
There's a rattle intonation... I play for around 5 years, each day, I don't have this sound with my other electric guitar nor my folk (and my folk was a low price guitar...)

I spent 200$ for the "new fret".

I'll post pictures of my guitar later, but it's hard to take a clear picture with the zoom (because it's blurry)

"Castles Made of Sand" (Jimi Hendrix), I also loooooove to sing it!
"Out On The Weekend" (Neil Young)
And also "How Deep Is Your Love" (the Bee Gees)

A Simon & Garfunkel song, but I'm influenced by the John Frusciante version.

Hi,

I did another cover of the great Neil Young :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AemMaPuwjN8

His first solo album is one of my favorite.

Thanks for the answers!

Well, I have a big house... And I have an empty room (there's just a sofa, weightlifting stuff...), I think it's a good place for the recording (I'm maybe wrong, I'm a newbie ^^), but my house is not close to the other houses. (To the left of this room, there's 2 garages and 1 garden)

I don't especially want a perfect room... I just want a quality that is not too bad... (A quality close to the reality)

I forget to mention that my computer sucks... I don't record anything on my computer because... The sound is really poor... I use Audacity too, and if I record with my computer, the signal is very low, I need to amplified the sound... But maybe I just need a preamp, but what I don't like with computer it's that the sound is never the same as when I play with my amp. (By the way I don't always use the same set with my pedals, if I set a bit of overdrive or if I turn up the overdrive, there's almost no difference on my computer)

So if I use my computer it's only to import saved songs, and "mix" it with audacity.

I don't really have a budget... I just need to think and spare 'till I reach my goal ^^

I didn't knew her...
but there's a weird thing : Mindy McCready has the same name of the husband of my grandpa's sister. (Robert George McCready husband of Margaret Ann K. (my family)

And... The husband of McCready is Billy McKnight...
Gwendolyn K., one of the 3 sisters of my grandpa, was married with Joel Roy McKnight
Joel Roy McKnight is from Florida, and this singer is born in Florida...

So maybe there's one link with my family ah ah I guess it's just a weird coincidence.

RIP Mindy McCready

Hi!

It's not for today, I'm just wondering...
So what should I need to record myself (At the moment : just the guitar and the voice)?
I have an electric guitar and a folk guitar.

I think, if I'm not wrong, I need :
- 3 micros (one for the electric, another for the acoustic and one for my voice)
- one mix table
- a new amp (I got a behringer... 15W, I think Marshall/Orange is the kind of amp I'm looking for, and also an Amp with 50W (If I play live it's better, it's what I heard, 50W is the minimum required)
- A preamp for my voice...

And it's ok for the recording?
If I play live, I think I'll need another micro for the voice (studio for the "studio" (so my home), and another for the live)?
Nothing else, am I right? I missed nothing?

I took a quick glance at my favorite store, the budget is around 3000-5000€. (4000-6500$)

I'm not really searching a bassist and a drummer, but if I found them, yeah it should be great...

Thank you

Very nice cover!

Thank you.

Yes it's an interpretation... Even the biggest celebrities do sometimes a cover and it doesn't sound like the original ^^
In my own small way, I think it's not too bad ^^

Thank you Dino smile

Thank you Grah

This afternoon I did a cover of Under The Bridge (by the Red Hot Chili Peppers) :
Under The Bridge (Click Here)

I used the BSSM mastertrack, that's why I have drum & bass on this song.

By the way I had some difficulties to sing over my amp and hi-fi, because I don't have a microphone... So my voice is sometimes a lil bit weird...
It's easier to sing with the acoustic ah ah

Yep, great job!

Hi, I did a new cover :
Going Inside

Well, I used the chords I found on the website for the acoustic guitar.
For the solo and all the electric part, I just did it by ear... So it's maybe not accurate, but I don't mind, I'm not John Frusciante and, for me, it sounds good ^^

Thanks!

Sounds really different but I like,

The solo is really good!

Nice cover, thanks for the link, I'll try it too !

Ray Peterson was the first to sing it, but Elvis made this song famous smile
At this time I'm into Elvis's songs...

The Wonder of You [COVER]

Thanks

Hi !
I didn't saw a topic about them, sorry if it's not the right place for this topic.

Well, Larry and His Flask (LAHF) is a bluegrass band. 6 guys from Oregon playing wild, with a big energy, but they can be sweet (and sweat) lol

2 Video clips :
LAHF - Call It What You Will
LAHF - Hobo's Lament
There's some live that you can find on youtube :
LAHF - Live Q Bus (Leiden, Holland) 2012-05-23

With "Hurray For The Riff Raff", it's the last new band I really really really like ! I saw Larry And His Flask on their European tour, in Belgium, in my little city ah ah, they're very sympathetic and it's unforgettable!

Nice cover Pete !

Thanks Grah1

Thanks Peter !

For the starting I learned the songs with the tab, sometimes I still do it, but I used more and more the lyrics with the chords... Now I know all the basic chords and some "rare" chords but well... Each day I learn a new thing... I don't have a teacher, I learn on my own.

I don't try to be perfect... I prefer to miss something but doin' it with all my heart than rearrange the sound with all the things we can do with a computer... The wrong thing in music is "playback", I forgot which artist sung the American Anthem in playback (Beyonce I think), but playback it's just an easy cheat...

For the guitar, sometimes a song is maybe less accurate than the original, but anyway, I'm not Hendrix, Zappa, ..., and sometimes I really want to do it well (as for Castles Made of Sand), and others songs I just strum the chords and add little things I try (as for "Out On The Weekend", it's different than Neil Young, mainly for the beginning, and a bit faster)

I also start to write my own original songs, it's more rock, traditionnal rock, a little bit funk, and folk... But actually I just finished 2 songs (So I have the composition and the lyrics), and a dozen of songs, some are finished but I need to find lyrics, some are just little things I think cool...

When it's ok, if I like what I do, I ask to my family/friends to tell me honestly what they think of it.
I wish I could record it (by the way there's a new litte studio in my town), and also find a drummer and a bassist. But actually I just want to have more skill... On the last videos I play more with the folk guitar, just because like this I can sing, but normally I used to play with my Fender ah ah...

On this vids I don't sing because it's with the electric guitar (louder than my voice)
Castles Made of Sand (Jimi Hendrix)
Inca Roads & Florentine Pogen (Medley) (Frank Zappa)

My Youtube Channel : Click Here
I actually have 18 vids (And I sing on the last 6 songs)
