Today  I  found  another  old  mandolin  ,this  time   a  Romanian one .  The  guy  selling  it  reckoned  it  needed  re stringing  ,but  when I  got  it  home    and gave  it  a  thorough inspection  every thing  was  fine  , so  a  quick  clean  up  and   a tune  up   and  I  think  it  sounds  fine . I've  done  a  little  vid  Let me  know  what  you  think  Cheers  G

This one is a cover of a Greek song I did with The Cretan band Everdie it's called asimina sfika which means silver wasp .I hope this counts as an animal I'm on guitar ,the vids a bit dark but it was filmed in the rehearsal room and we'd had a few drinks  at this point. Enjoy https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XpP_DGa3oLY

We  do   Sweet  Caroline , 500 miles (proclaimers) and  Delilah in the  current  Rockits    set  . I  don't  sing  them thankfully LOL

Better than I expected Phill I'd resigned my self to just playing guitar for Ronnie and the Rockits but I got invited to a small venue the previous week where I did a short  set which went really well so I thought I'd see if I could manage a propper set .Maybe still a bit too soon but getting there.

We have  a  number   of  good  venues round  here  Jim . I'm just  easing my  self back  into  playing after  my  covid  experiences  . Still  a  bit  of  a  struggle  though .

I popped over to the Skipton Sound bar to play the other night.Great crowd  great venue.Check this place out of you are in North Yorkshire .This is a cover of a Rory Gallagher song.Ghost blues

In the video I posted the monitors you can see 'are powered 800 watts each the ones I use now are passive so they use a separate amp .each channel is supplied a line level signal from the fold back  output on the mixer we currently use a 12 channel Yamaha analogue mixer .The one in the vid is a 32 channel digital which if I remember correctly had 4 fold back outputs   so there was plenty of options to get a good mix on stage. With our current small set up I get the third monitor from the mono output so the singer has the same mix as the audience hear. It seems to work well for us.
However for big festivals we had a mixing desk on stage just for the monitors the main mix coming from a remote tower in front of the stage .
Just take your time and find the set up which is best for your group and the type of venue you play .In ear monitors can be a good option rather than floor ones these days there are some great systems available

we mic  everything  up and  feed  it  back  into  the  PA which has  2k output .I  generaly  set  up  2  floor  monitors   driven by  a  separate   2x 400watt  amp  which  gives  us    plenty  of  volume    to  hear  each  other.
We all  run our  amps  at     a  level  where  we  can hear  our  selfs  in our   respective   bits  of  the  stage   . We  are  using  an electronic  drum kit    so  that    is  also  fed  into  the  pa  and   we  can  have  it  at  a  sensible  level   on stage . The monitors  have just  enough  of  every  one  in so  we  dont blast  each  other  out .  As  for  our  vocalist  he  has  a  separate  monitor   which  gives  him the  full  front  of  house  mix  . The  main speakers   are   positioned  as  far  forward  as  possible     so  we  dont  really  hear  them  but  every  one   else  can be  deafened  if  needed .
I  find   the  on  stage  levels  need to   be  low  enough    for  comfortable  listening . It  pays  to  have  a  good  engineer   ours  also  helps  out  on extra  guitar  when needed .
Hope this  helps

Very funny guys I was for once trying to be serious .LOL Could be a song for new year though .Any way have a great new yr guys .

Hi every one I might be becoming a bit of a conspiracy theorist here but .I get a few warning bells ringing with the constant spam on chordie since normal conversation about songs an music has become much less.Could it be certain undesirables  are using the forum for covert messaging as often it seems
like gobble de gook then another new user pops up and responds .

That  strums  along  nicely  Jim, love  the  chorus  , has  a  bit  of  a John  Prine  feel  to  me .

Cheers Phill  we're not doing any new yr stuff next one will be February   unless Ronnie makes some promise we have to keep LOL

It was a very good night Jim and quite packed for the most of it .We only got bits of video  and these two were towards the end of the night.Had the girl taking the vid got all of the Proclaimers song you'd have heard the Ozzy Osbourne intro we did with it ,as I played the start of Crazy train to fool every one which went down very well .The two songs mash up well together.     I'll check out the Brad Paisley song you mention ,I like Brad he's a great player

I like to hear different interpretations  of my songs. I'll look forward to Richards version .Kev Jones has covered it over here and done a great job but hasn't uploaded it yet I need to give him a nudge

Basically that's what it means Richard just to give you time to breath and fit the lyrics in  have a
Listen to how I play it then it may be clearer .
