Good to have you joining us, Steelystrings. I totally agree with what you said. My hands were so twisted and cramped the first time I tried a simple C chord, but practice makes perfect. The best advice I ever got was to not cheat on my F. (But I'm a stanch rule follower smile )

Thanks Ben for the link! I just watched it and am really glad I did.

I'll try that G/B, but I really liked the sound of G5: 320033

Yup, give G/B a whirl! wink I played G5 in my Landslide and love the sound. Thanks for the tip.

Where'd you play the G5 in Landslide?

I used the Landslide 2 by Dixie Chicks (yeah, I know, but that's the group is listed as in the Chordie songs section) chord pro sheet, and anywhere there's a G I tried a G5.  The places where I liked the sound better, I kept it.

I also use a C with the additional high G played on the high e string when I play Landslide.  I'll put the extra G in and take it out to mix up the sound when I'm picking it.  It's a little more interesting sounding.

The Dixie Chicks did Landslide really good. I can't stand them, but their music is pretty. Thanks for the info. I have been playing it with the highG C chord. I play most of it like Guitar pix said. Gonna see about that G5. smile

How'd they do that? Well if you look at the headboard of the bed it is made of peeler logs. Just small logs really. And it looks hand made. So, going by that, they obviously live out in the sticks where they don't have schools. No schools means more time to sit around and learn an instrument. If you had 8 years to do nothing but learn to play I'm sure you could be that good.

That's how I'm rationalizing their talent otherwise I'd have another bout of giving up.

LOL! Very perceptive of you. But the one on the banjo has only played for like four years. Sorry Z. tongue

I have guitar polish. Got it for Christmas. I like it, but I'm sure your concoction works just as well. What would you use for string cleaner?

New strings.

Yup, I know. But they sound fine, so I'm gonna wait. I actually have string cleaner that I like, just was thinking a homemade cleaner would be fun.

I dont use string cleaner. When they start to get disgusting I change them. I do use string lubricant(finger ease). Which seems like silicone but I wouldnt dare spray a guitar with silicone(especially electrics).Spray them both on a floor and they will make it as slippery as ice.I used to buy gibson guitar polish in the spray can.Until I learned that pledge does the same thing for a lot less.

I have string cleaner (also a finger ease, I think) that works good, just wondering if you had an 'off brand'. smile
I'd be changing my strings all the time if I changed them whenever they were disgusting. Maybe it's my being a girl and wearing lotion and stuff. Dunno why for certain, but they sure get dirty fast...

"Still on the same wife.4 electrics,4 acoustics,1-6 string banjo and a lap steel,8 amps,1 PA.My daughter has 2 amps 1 acoustic,4 electrics,2 basses,1 uke, an organ and a keyboard, and she is only 14. Not to mention a drumkit so any drummers can travel light. There is so much that they probably all look the same to my wife. Some of these I have had for 30 years. I`ve been with my wife for 27 years. Never once have any of the guitars or amps ever complained about the room they take up. Truthfully,I never knew how many there were until I did this post just now. Talk about GAS" ~ Joey

Not many people have been married for 27 years. Good job.

I have an old 70s model acoustic epi. I love it. I've played some other fairly pricey guitars and mine certainly doesn't look, feel or sound inferior. I'm very pleased. Jerry, that's a real pretty one thanks for the pics.

Ouch! Bet that did hurt pretty bad. I hate smashing fingers or toes! Never smashed it so bad for the nail to fall off, though. Hope you get better soon. Maybe you can get a finger-pick?

I used the definition of Freemasonry as a religion because for many of the founding fathers, the practice of Freemasonry and attendance at Masonic meetings was likely far more influencial on their lives than any religion practiced. Freemasonry can be seen as a philosophy much akin to religion.

9 of 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence were Masons.
13 of 39 signers of the Constitution were Masons.
14 Presidents were Masons.

37 out of 39 of the signers of Constitution were Christian and 52 out of 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence were Christian.
All of our Presidents have been Christians.

Wouldn't swear by these numbers but they're as close as I could find.

Is Freemasonry a religion? I did not know that... Something new everyday, right? smile I found a list of the signers' religions. I'll see if I can find it again.

Amy, haha! it'd have to be a girly thing or a pride thing, cause I can't sing. tongue Did you see the replay of Whitney Houston singing it on the news? It was beautiful.

Wow, I'd love to read their letters. Thanks for posting, GP. I love this kind of stuff. I didn't have to read too far before I noticed Scripture quoted - anybody else see that?  Hope to get to read more of it (only read 3 pages).
