Look for a good used acoustic. Yamaha  and Ibanez have some good ones. If you were in this area, I could set you up.

I hope there are no videos of me. Due to health issues, my playing is getting worse and worse.  I still do play though. As long as I can still play, I will.

I may end up a solo act after this trip. Lol. A looooong ride ahead. You may find this hard to believe. There are some people that find me to be kind of irritating.

Can you let Chris know?? We are trying to get the house we did before. She wasn`t too keen about the Motel Hell. Lol. I explained that we were safe from Zombie attacks there. If we get attacked by Zombies, she will only have herself to blame.

Can’t believe it’s finally here. I have wanted to go to this event for years and in 3 short days that becomes a reality.  I’m super excited.  Oh, and scotch.

What kind of Scotch??

I think it's both hilarious and slightly disturbing that this thread is about discussing booze as opposed to what guitar everyone is bringing. Priorities! big_smile

JJJ has so many guitars he probably matches them to booze like steak and wine. This way he knows what to bring. Danelectros go great with canadian whiskey, but I think Guilds are better with Islay scotches.

If you notice pictures that I post , there is usually a can of Genny on the guitar. Or Jack Daniels.Lol. I have had to moderate a bit due to health issues.

I have to travel light. Greyhound charges extra for each piece of luggage. I will find a package store down there. After the foot of snow tomorrow and Tuesday, it should be smooth after that.

I am so looking forward to the day of JJJ's announcement that he now owns a guitar made on all 7 Continents.

Is there such a thing as Penguin Guitars from Antarctica ?

smile

Your post got me thinking and I just checked and there are some Penguin Guitars.  Here is the link: http://www.gretschguitars.com/gear/family/penguin

OK. You got me on that one. I do have a Penguin. A Gretsch White Penguin. Nothing from Australia or Canada (that I know of). Most are of the Asian Persuasion. Indonesia to be exact.

This is where I have to Quote Shakespeare in Hamlet.  As Hamlet said.  TUBEY or not TUBEY.  I had to do that.

I actually have some experience on this. On a satin finish or a finish in rough shape (Gibson LG 2), I use Pledge. I had a luthier tell me that the only difference between Pledge and the guitar polishes is the lemony smell. On a painted electric or an acoustic that is perfectly smooth, I use old fashioned Johnsons Paste Wax.  A lot of work but it is a small area so it isn`t that bad. Just a lot of buffing. Dont put it on the bottom if you play sitting down. It will become too slippery. I would never use Armor All. I do use it on my FJ with no padding inside. I won`t use it on my Falcon. I definitely wouldn`t use it on my guitars.  A lot depends on which guitar I am cleaning.

I have 6 guitars in a music store that handles consignments. Along with an old Electro Voice mic. and mini amp and cabinet. It takes time. They do all the dirty work and there is no dealing with no shows, low balling or critics. Of course with me, any money goes as credit for something else.  I have tried the Craigslist route. It was more aggravation than it is worth.

July 21st.  I`m planning on being there. Nothing is etched in concrete yet.

I look for how much room it will take up in my house. Then playability and condition. Sound and action.  Other factors, where I am going to put it.

Now I have to figure out what guitar I am bringing. My original plan was killed yesterday when my LG 2 ended up in the guitar hospital. I`m open to suggestions. It doesn`t mean I will follow them. Just open to ideas.

I just did some research. There are 4 package stores that sell Genesee in the area. Who is luckier than me??

I look it as getting to see the country on the way down. And the way back. My brother lives in Florida in the winter. Too far to go see him.

I have never dressed different for a concert. I have been to a Jimmy Buffett concert. People dress like pirates and all kinds of different characters. Plus the decorations on their cars.

The bus arrives in Orlando at 11:30 pm. Then there is a 6 hour wait for the next one. Then into St. Petersburg at 8:30. Check in is at 3:00 if the room isn`t vacant. After a rough start Friday, it will go nice and smooth. Lol. I decided to bring my trusty old Gibson LG 2. (subject to change).

I`m looking into the Holiday Inn Express. Taking a greyhound back and forth. If I can plan this right, I will just have to figure out which guitar to take down.

I`m looking into taking a Greyhound and finding a hotel close by.  Still in the planning stages.  Hoping to make it. It will be just me.
