HC Holbert sent me these lyrics a couple of days ago. I made a few changes, added a chorus and made a song. What a very sad thing to be singing about. The worst environmental disaster in our history happening right now.

In remembrance of the four students who died on May 4th, 1970 at Kent State University. Shot down by the National Guard. A very dark day in American history and a tragedy that did not have to happen and let's hope will never happen again. 9 more students were wounded that day.

One of my favorites.
For my version (learned by ear long ago) I use a chord progression of Bm....A....F#/Gb minor.....G (bar chord).....A
Basically the whole song is that chord progression.
For this version I tuned down 1.5 steps to C#

I posted this video as news of the Gulf Coast oil rig fire was first breaking. I feared the worst then news reports said no oil was leaking.
Initial reports were so wrong and now this is shaping up to be the worst environmental disaster in our history.

This song is BE THE RAIN by Neil Young and seems appropriate for the situation.
Released on his 2003 Greendale album, this version is a cover of the live solo acoustic rendition found on the accompanying DVD.

Always loved this song. The original is a piano composition so the challenge was to transpose that to guitar. I took a simplistic chord based approach.
I have a songbook with guitar chords in it for this song but to b honest they are very complicated chords and I gave up trying the songbook method.

Instead I boiled it down to a few basic chords by ear.
A lot of trial and error but it sounds close enough.

This is my solo acoustic cover of a powerful song by Bruce Cockburn
about the destruction of the world's rainforests. Song was released
in 1988 on the Big Circumstance album.

Probably a song best known by only hardcore Neil Young fans and certainly way too long for the average YouTube attention span.
Give it a try if you haven't heard of it and if you know the song please enjoy.

I consider this song to be one of Young's masterpieces of songwriting.
A beautiful song which uses dream imagery of a salmon swimming upstream to spawn as a metaphor for the human will to love.

I never did get a good video performing the song. It turned out way too dark (a failed lighting experiment). So I searched for a video that went well with the imagery of the song.

The video is Public Domain video depicting Atlantic salmon courtesy of the U.S. Dept. of Fish & Game. I slowed the video way down to give it a dreamlike feel.

To My surprise someone in the UK likes my music well enough to write a  small review of my original songs.

This is my own acoustic take on this great song. Always liked this song and wanted to learn it. This is my second attempt at it. Had to tune two steps down to sing.

"Crazy" is the first single from Gnarls Barkley, a musical collaboration between Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo, and is taken from their 2006 debut album St. Elsewhere. It became a top ten hit throughout Europe, North America and Australia, in the first half of 2006, reaching number one of the single charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Canada, New Zealand and other countries.

I grew up listening to Bob Dylan mainly because my mother was a huge
Dylan fan so his music was always a part of my early life. I remember
these songs so clearly. I decided to see how fast I could learn this one
and this is what came out when I attempted it.

I am playing this from a lyrics and chord sheet based upon a distant
memory of how I remember the song so I have no idea how close I got.
Haven't heard this song in decades probably. Just remember that I
always liked this one.
This is the third take which was the first time all the way through
without a major stumble.

Thanks so much! Truly appreciate it!

Had to whistle the intro.

"The Ghost in You" is a song by The Psychedelic Furs. It was written by Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler, and later released in their 1984 album Mirror Moves. It was released as the second single from the album and charted in both the U.S. Pop charts (#59) and the UK Singles Chart (#68).

I've always loved this song. She wrote a beautiful song and I could never hope to do it justice (I'm nowhere near worthy) but this is my first attempt at covering the song solo acoustic.

1997 Martin HD28VR w/ D'Addario EJ16 lights capoed up 2 frets (from standard tuning, I'm tuned one step down because too lazy to re-tune)

"Why" is the first solo single by the Scottish singer Annie Lennox, released in 1992. It was taken from her debut solo album Diva and reached no.5 in the United Kingdom and number thirty-four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

This one is by request from Youtube friend Abstractstv (Frank Bonilla)
to honor a family member of his, who just died. Lolly Vegas, of Redbone,
died March 4, 2010 at age 70.
My condolences to Frank and his family.

I am honored that Lolly's relatives would request a cover of this song
from me but at the same time I realize I could not possibly ever do his
song justice. Lolly had such a beautiful singing voice.
Lolly wrote this hit song and it reached #5 on the Hot 100 in 1974:
Come And Get Your Love

I play this one in the key of C instead of the version here on Chordie.
Not saying it's correct, just the way I play it.
You can see the chord changes in the video

Put this song into the category of burned into my memory cells when I was about 7 years old. I remember having one of those KTEL compilation albums and this song was on it. Loved the song then and still a great song now. Never learned it and finally decided to give it a shot.
Decided to have some fun and overdub another vocal and do a little simple lead break.
This was Love's radical reworking of the Burt Bacharach-Hal David song "My Little Red Book"

My cover of this classic with added vocal harmonies.
Just learned this one and found it difficult to sing and also a lot of chords in this one.

Pretty good All1Song.  Brings back a lot of memories for me.  I have a lot of those albums myself.  A great job on the song, in the style of Dylan and Young.

Thanks for listening bensonp!

Had an idea for sharing 100 great albums that spun on a turntable And influenced me between the years 1964 thru 1979.

Set to my original song SONGS (From That Place In Time) featuring
A professionally mastered audio track by www.acmastering.com

Making this one reminded me how great the days of album cover art was. Still have most of these vinyl LPs today and a working turntable. My song was written in 1977 and this was recorded in Feb. 2008. Had to limit the albums to rock genre up to 1979 and even then Just scratched the surface. I started out wanting to include Blues, R&B, Soul, Bluegrass, Folk, Country but simply not enough space and That would be a very long list!

Hope you enjoy and see some of your favorites in here.

I watched Neil Young perform his classic on Conan O'Brien's last Tonight Show Friday night and it was INCREDIBLE!  Inspired me to dust this one off again.  If you watch my video you can also find Neil Young's performance in the Related Videos column.

NBC keeps removing them so enjoy that one while you can:

The other day I was surprised and honored by a comment from Neil Young's
official channel on a cover of an old Buffalo Springfield song some friends and
I had done together. You can read the details and see the video here on MOG:
