I had heard of the super glue remedy before.. I'm willin'..
BGD.. I can't get a picture but I'll tell you, it seems my index finger is almost at the tip of the pick therefore hitting the strings alot.. and I realize this is the problem but its strange how it has recently just started happening. I've been playing guitar for decades and now this is going on. I've been playing thru it of course.. I just wanted to get some insight from others if they have had the same issue. Appreciate all the input.. you folks are great.

Re: Keep splitting finger .. (25 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Right on the tip of my index finger.. like a cut right across almost from under the nail. It happened the first time about a year or so ago. The other guitar player in the band said.. that is going to do that from now on. And he was right! Same place every time. Its just a drag especially when I play a couple times a week. I just wanted to know if this is something other folks have run it to...
thanks.

Right you are Pete.. I'm on the look out for some stuff called Cornhuskers Lotion. Its crazy good for dry, chapped hands. Thanks.

Re: Keep splitting finger .. (25 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Thanks Toots.. probably right.. of course it seems in the winter its worse and I handle alot of paper at my job so perhaps all this combined just adds to the problem. It is a nuisance though not to mention a tad painful. Gives new meaning for me to.. "I played until my fingers bled".. Thanks.

Topic: Keep splitting finger .. (25 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I usually play at least one gig a week and it seems every time, I keep splitting open my index finger that's holding my pick. It'll sort of heal until my next gig - then it happens again. I've used liquid band aide stuff as well as clear nail polish over the tip of my finger.. which sort of helps.. I am trying to adjust how I hold the pick too. What's crazy is I've been playing guitar for many years.. this has just recently started to plague me.
Thought I'd look for some advice here.. you folks always have great ideas. thanks.

Pete...
You had to say the Gibson J45.. I absolutely love that guitar. I currently have a Martin HD28... and I adore it. I play gigs often and it just cuts through and sounds so rich and warm.. but there's something about that Gibson.. I had the pleasure of test driving a 1951 vintage gibson at a music shop in Catonsville, MD.. it was sweet.. a little too much $$ for me but it was cool to try it out. Bottom line.. get the Gibson. Sooner than later... life is short.

Re: Setlist (7 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Hey Crevs
I average about 1 - 2 gigs a week between 3 hour and 4 hour long. Some tunes are right from memory but sometimes I do refer to a book.. glance it, then play it. Often times its to get the lyric right.. our sets usually consist of about 12 - 15 tunes. Good luck.

Re: Acoustic pickups (12 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Hey Zurf.. I had an LR Baggs pickup installed in my HD28.. love it. People advised me to not mess with the integrity of the guitar and it wouldn't be in its original state when I wanted to sell it.. well, that ain't happening.. There's a few options out there but you won't be disappointed with the LR Baggs.. congrats on your new purchase by the way... Deb

Guitarpix... You mention the music store isn't close by.. you ARE the music store with all those guitars.. Very cool. Once I buy a guitar, I keep it.. it would be so hard to let go of.. although, I did just give one away for a charity type thing.. someone I know is off to Africa and asked for a bunch of instruments with the goal being they're going to supply some village there with instuments and teach them to play.. Kind of a cool thing organized by the guy's church.. it was a black Rogue guitar that was a free gift when I purchased some strings.. which in itself is a crazy thing. Thanks for your thoughts, I agree with many..

Hey David.. my thought is it really doesn't say much.. its the person's talent that speaks volumes.. someone can have an inexpensive guitar and make it sound like a million bucks cause they can play.. I'm not saying a top of the line Gibson or Martin, Taylor, etc won't make a difference sound wise and action wise though - it will. I, too always check out what guitar folks choose to buy.. Twenty guitars in 2 years.. wow. Currently I have 8 guitars.. the Martin HD28 is my fave. But I have a Godin, lower end Art & Lutherie acoustic electric. It is quite nice too. Cedar with a cut away.. it has a nice brilliant sound.. good luck.

Zurf.. extra cash sounds great.. Before getting my Martin guitar my primary guitar was an Epiphone.. 150 Flat top. I played the heck out of that thing.. and it is still awesome today.. good luck with your search.. I love shopping guitars.

Re: What inspired you to start playing guitar?? (62 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Love the HD28.. funny thing is when I bought it, I was in the store trying out a Taylor.. admittedly a lower end Taylor but I really liked it.. as the sales guy was off doing something else, I picked up the Martin that was in a stand in the showroom.. and hit an E chord.. I couldn't believe the sound and the action was great.. that was it. Although it was a bit more than I was planning on spending.. I bought it.. no regrets. And with my gigs the past couple of years it has paid for itself many times over.. can't say enough about it..

Re: What inspired you to start playing guitar?? (62 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
First time on this forum.. been looking at Chordie for some time finally decided to join in.. got my 1st guitar at 12 yrs old.. for Christmas.. 1968. With a chord book and a ton of desire, I learned how to play.. never looked back. A few guitars later, I decided to buy the guitar I always wanted.. HD28 Martin. Absolutely love that guitar.. I'm part of an acoustic trio, playing at least one gig a week.. Honestly never imagined I would be doing gigs at this point in my life but wouldn't have it any other way.. absolutely love it.. To all the beginners out there.. press on. It is so worth it..
