We used to play this on the "ole turntable" every year at Christmas.
I remember me and my brothers giggling thinking "dirty thoughts as young kids would, about women's lingerie".
It brings back at lot of good memories.

Nice write! You gotta great voice for the style you play. I was wondering what happened to the pics half ways through the song? Is that a youtube blip or did you edit the pics out? I imagine you'd have some good pics of you out in the field (or in a bar lol)

Nice job on this

Hi Auxi smile
Playing guitar and learning different styles will all come with more time put into it. It really is a love affair. smile I wish I learned scales when I was starting out cause it would have advanced my playing tremendously. As for styles to play it's up to you. Check out Youtube "tutorials" or "lessons" for a song or style that you want. You'd be surprised what is out there.
As for writing songs it is the same way, it's a love affair and it must come from the heart. Keep a portable recording device with you cause when the melody magically pops into your head you can record it. It doesn't have to be a good recording, just enough so you can remember it and put lyrics to it when the lyrics come to you. Try not to pressure yourself to write lyrics cause that will advance the writers block. Let the lyrics come when they come.
I hope this helps and the best of luck.
Cheers smile

Hiya Pete,
Just had a listen to Piano Man and some of the others (I'm listening to Runaround Sue right now. One of my favs) Your doing a great job on these. Keep it up smile Sounds and looks like you picked the right gear for recording. Nice!
Also some good tips on the slippery pick thing...I'll have to keep them in mind.

Hi T-Rex, Our Good Friend Roger smile pointed this out or I would have missed it. I did finally put this to music and I have enclosed the link for the chords. I may have changed the lyrics somewhat but after reading the post I think I should go back to the original. It's been so long since I seen it I'm not sure.
Thank You for bringing it back up smile It is a good feeling knowing what I write can touch a persons soul smile

Cheers and Thank You.

Kenny

P.S. It's a pleasure too meet you smile

I found this as I was browsing YouTube vids. It's a great song with the video showing 3-D art work from Julian Beever. Mega talent between the song and the artwork smile

Enjoy

Hi Jeff smile

I'm flattered and looking forwards to seeing and hearing my song done by someone else. Good to hear there will be lots of camcorders around....Should be lots of great vids coming up.
Maybe next year I can make it down.

Enjoy your weekend, wobbly pops and fishing but most of all the new friends you'll meet.

Hi mcclatch. Welcome to Chordie.

Chordie is the best site on the net for getting and giving advise. It's good to see you jumping right in. smile
As said by Ark and Dino it all boils down to practice with your mates. After a while you'll find that as you don't think about the chords or where to place your fingers jumping in to sing will become second nature.
As for writing a song, as you are strumming a chord pattern try to hum a melody. It doesn't matter if the melody is a song or not but this way you will find what chords are better suited to your voice or what key you sing best in. Once you know what chords work for your voice then let your imagination give you a melody. Don't try to force a song, let the song come to you and as Ark says...Don't ever give up.

Hope this helps.

Cheers smile

Catchy lyrics Daddy smile

I get a 60's vibe from this one.

Well Done

Kenny

Hi Daddy smile

I really enjoyed the read, very image intensive lyrics. I especially liked the chorus as a melody just kind of fell into place with your choice of words/chords but I would like to hear your version one day.

Nice One

Hi Jeff

Good imaginative storytelling. smile
Will you be playing this at the Chordie get-together this weekend? If so I hope it gets taped so we can hear how it plays.

Nice Work

Hey Phill smile

You are doing a bang-up job in the mixing department. Your new tunes are sounding very pro. smile (not that they didn't before)
Ann must have loved the way  "Why Don't You Stay Tonight" turned out. I'm guessing you got a big hug for that one.

Nice mix in the different styles of songs. "Killer Heels" had me tapping and thinking.

Well Done Again

Kenny:)

Thanks Again for all the Chordie support.  It sure did make it easier. smile
I have a post in the equipment section about a mic I was turned onto. I know it seems like a cheap mic (that cheap and there must be a problem with it) I've compared the specs to the Shure 58.....it's all greek to me.
Do the specs indicate that it is a decent mic?
I'm guessing that it's a good mic but I better not drop it or spill a bear on it.
If it is a good mic anyone near a Princess Auto should check it out.

Cheers smile

Kenny

I recently bought a mic from the advice of my friend that will be playing with me at Home County. He has a band, records in his house and plays many instruments so he knows his stuff. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this mic and if so, their thoughts on it.
The spec sheet has it as
Directional Characteristics: Uni-Directional
Frequency Response: 80-12000Hz
Impedance: 600 +- 30%
Sensitivity: -74 +-3dB
It comes with a 15'x 1/4" jack and the xyz? Adapter.

This is one of the mics he uses and says it is the same as the Sur58? I dunno...I not complaining cause the cost of the mic/cord/case was only $10.00 tax included at a nationwide store called Princess Auto. For the amount I will be using it even if it last a short time it's a deal. smile

Anyone else in Canada looking for a mic should check it out. smile

Cheers

Sounds like everyone is gonna have a blast even if there was no music smile

I'll have to bow out of this years event (hopefully it'll be made an annual) but I'm guessing there will be lots of pics/vids so we can see what we've missed.

I think I'm a so-so player..... with lots of bad habits that I have picked up over the years that I wish I could shake.
Still lots of time though...:)

Thanks Dino and Geo smile
I did manage to face my fears and head to the open mic for a taste of what I'm gonna face...I shook so bad I thought I was gonna fall off the stage lol I think that playing for the first time and hearing my voice/guitar come out of the monitor screwed me up the most, but none the less I did it and as I thought, the crowd was appreciative and polite as I received a nice applause (probably cause they seen how scared I was). I only had to start over twice smile
Any how I now have a mic, stand and a small peavy amp that I will be doing lots of practice with. smile

Geo...if I can do it I gotta believe you can too.

Cheers
