One of the things in Chordie's favour is that it doesn't host any of the songs on the index, they are all from other sites and Chordie only finds them for you.

But it seems RLS wrote new words. Mull, Rum and Eigg (pronounced egg) are all islands in the Western Isles of Scotland.

This is known as the I IV V chord pattern. Here's a little something on background...

Basically the 3 chords taken from the I IV V are the principal chords of the song. Many many, some would say nearly all, country and gospel songs use I IV V. The good thing is that it applies to any key. If you look at the table from the link you'll see that G, C, D is the I IV V pattern in the key of G (you probably knew that already). So if you come across a song with the chord patter A ,D, E or C, F, G or D, G, A -  these are all I IV V patterns and using your capo you can change the key so that the chord shapes you are playing are G, C, D.

So if the song is in D (D, G, A) and you put your capo on the 5th fret and play chord shapes G, C, D you are still playing in D. Or you can simply just change the key to G and play it open.

Here's what I went for..

I went for fun in the end.

Listen to the drums to get the basic rhythm. Actually play along with your hands, like air drums. NOW, put your non-srumming hand (fretting hand) away. Sit on it or hide it somewhere. Do the same drum thing but with only your strumming hand. Use the side of your thigh as the drum and do the whole drum thing one handed. Beat out the whole drum beat not just half of it. Now pay attention to what your hand is doing. Hopefully it should be beating out your basic strum pattern.

I have to say that as a 1st post on a guitar forum this is a very odd one. If this is your usual contribution to any online community then i guess you have more reason to be paranoid than most of us on Chordie.

Having said that, welcome to Chordie. When the governments of the world do actually impose a B chord ban then I'll start to worry.

Oh aye. My latest, as you probably know, is a uke. I WANT a uke. Maybe it'll pass but, hey, it's my birthday soon, I may need to treat myself.

On 2nd thoughts I really think it's the traditional uke sound I'm looking for. Back to square one.
