you can buy an extension nut to raise the action.Theyre dirt cheap and all you have to do is loosen the strings and retune after.Much easier than trying to adjust the bridge. If you change your mind,it comes off just as easily.

I definitely want in. Hopefully I can figure it out by then.

If I figure this out.Would it be a problem doing one song with the current band I am in.Your time runs right into the time when we jam. That works out perfect

They are easy to change.I just hate the noise that roundwound bass strings make when they go through the tailpiece. Once you get experienced to changing strings, its easy. But after 30years,I could never get used to that noise. That and rubbing 2 poker chips together.

I had to follow my own advice today.Restrung 2 strats and an epiphone dot studio.I was on a roll until I ran out of electric strings. Bought 3 more sets today. My usual brand.Whatever is cheapest as long as they start with a 10. Ended up with DARCOs.Still have 2 more electrics to do and a few acoustics. The problem with multiple guitars is that they have to be restrung eventually.

Isn`t it great to be able to say that.

Just finished an unbelievable jam session.I think its safe to say I broke out of the burnout I was complaining about awhile ago.Too bad I couldnt get the skype to work.I would have loved to put part of it on.5 of us crammed in my little jam space playing hard rock.Does it get any better than that.

hi joeyjoeyjoey many thanks a friend of mine has this acoustic guitar and i just wondered if it was possible to do it.

many thanks.

Wayne is right. They are not the same.My point is to try it on yours first. It wont do any damage to either piece. Or try some at a music store first. The worst that can happen is nothing.

Nothing worse than hurting your hands or fingers. My knees are really bad from being hit by a car 30 years ago.Being fat now doesn`t help, but it is still better than hurting my hands.Hope you get well really soon. Still can`t get the skype thing working.I now have some kind of tabloid site.Just think 24 hour gossip site.

John, if I remember right you have an amp that most of us would dream of having. You should stick with that and see how it sounds first. I just played my yamaha apx-4a through my gibson falcon and I thought it sounded pretty good.Give it a try.The worst that could happen is nothing

It`s amazing how underated some people are.Roy Clark and Steve Martin are two examples.Underneath the comedy are 2 fantastic players.Others are Stephen Sagal. Another great guitarist and Charo(remember her).Underneath the hoochie coochie and tiny dresses is a classical guitarist. there are more but the post is about steve martin.

I`ve been trying to get this to work.So far I now have a bunch of games and a permanent weather update thingy. I think it`s time to ask my daughter for help. When all else fails, ask a kid

You can always get what you have upgraded.A good setup can do wonders. My yamaha played awful after 25 years of playing.A good setup and 65.00 later,it was better than ever. Like the old cliche: stick with the devil you know.

Yamaha SJ-180s are great guitars.

True, Mine looks like it went through the wringer.I paid 125.00 for it in 1984. It was damaged in shipping. The headstock was broken and the neck had a couple cracks going lengthwise. It was reglued and has held since.Plus the body had some scratches and dents from the same mishap that happened. But it played like a dream. Perfect size,a little smaller than a dreadnought. It is also covered in stickers. Most I put on,some my daughter put on.I was going to take a hair dryer and heat them off but I see it as a trip through time now. From a 1984 WBCN sticker to an apple cinnamon cheerios sticker that came on the box.Muppets, hello kitty, narragansett beer, bible quotes. Something for everyone. As great as they are, mine is still an sj-180 that is damaged and covered with stickers.  If you can find one in good shape, grab it.It is a great utility guitar. Where a martin is a cadillac, an sj-180 is a ford pickup.

I`m still trying to figure out how to set mine up.We have a jam session at that time.It would be a great time if I knew how to.

WARNING: buying guitars can become addictive. Buying amps can become addictive. Not from the surgeon general, but from anyone on here. If anyone can prove me wrong, do it. Symptoms: go into a guitar center and try not to look in wonder like a 5 year old at toys r us.All those toys but you can get only one.

Acoustic-I am partial to Yamaha.A higher grade Yamaha is well within your price range. Electric- a mexican Fender stratocaster is affordable(especially used),and you will still have enough to buy a decent amp. Hope that helps. Best bet is to go to stores and look what they have in your price range and play with them. Don`t worry about what the name on the headstock says. If it sounds and plays good to you,it is a great guitar. That is why my favorite guitar is a 1984 Yamaha sj-180.Probably worth about 50.00 usd. It sounds great and plays great to me,so it is a great guitar.Go for a test drive like you would a car.

I tried to play by ear,but I couldnt get the pick to stay in my ear.So I think i`ll continue to play with my hands. (I COULDN`T RESIST THAT ONE, THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT). Remember Flip Wilson used to say that

I guess that would be like Los Angeles being near me because it is in the same country. She used to amaze a lot of people there with her brown eyes.We are 100% Italian. I guess she stood out in the crowd.

For some reason, nylon string guitars seem to always turn up in antique stores. I just saw an old silvertone for 85.00 last monday.Take some time and you may find a deal on one.Don`t leave any stone unturned.

Ive only figured out a song once. The rest of the time, I have to see it on paper or chordie. Without my seiko quartz,I would never be in tune

I know that the neck can be sanded and buffed. After picking it up I dont ever want to touch another one. The way it felt made my skin crawl. Kind of like a noise someone doesn`t like(scratching a chalkboard, knife screaching on a plate, things like that). For that reason I wouldnt even attempt to play it.I bought a rain slicker by mail once, and it had that same feeling to it.It still sits in my closet.
