I liked Maynard way more than Gilligan...

Bob Denver also played a taxi driver named Rufus in a show called" The Good Guys". And he also played a character named Dusty in a show called "Dusty`s Trail". No matter which show you watched, nobody was cooler than Maynard

In case anyone is wondering(or cares). The G in Maynard G. Crebbs name stands for Walter. Now you can sleep at nights with that off your mind.

I`ve played mitchells at guitar center,I found they played fine.I am not sure but I think it is guitar centers store brand.

Just to clarify some things. I dont use the cleaners on a regular basis. If I clean them once or twice a year it`s a miracle. They mostly sit in their cases.Except for my red strat and yamaha apx-4-a. The others get pulled out a few times a year just to keep them running. And the finger ease is the name of the string lubricant. It`s safe to assume that everyone has different ideas about what to use.As far as pledge or paste wax goes.Dont pile it on.A very light thin film is more than enough. If anyone has ever tried to buff off a thick coat of johnson paste wax,(especially on a black guitar)they will know what I mean. My original point is that the Gibson Guitar Care Kit is overpriced household cleaners that can be purchased cheaper seperately. Lemon Oil, Chrome Polish, Furniture Cleaner and a small chamois all in its own plastic case. I can open up another pandoras box if I get into some of the overpriced "SPECIAL GUITAR TOOLS". Except for an ernie ball electric string winder and a hand string winder with a pin puller,I use the cheapest poor quality screwdrivers possible".WHY JOEY" I`ll tell you.The easier the handles break from too much pressure. The easier it is to break them before you put too much pressure on some delicate part of a guitar. A good strong screwdriver(husky or craftsmen) will easily damage a guitar before they break. And I never use any kind of power screwdriver. It`s a pain, but its too easy to crack a pickguard by tightening the screw too much.

it`s funny Pete.My mothers maiden name is Mazzone.

I dont use string cleaner. When they start to get disgusting I change them. I do use string lubricant(finger ease). Which seems like silicone but I wouldnt dare spray a guitar with silicone(especially electrics).Spray them both on a floor and they will make it as slippery as ice.I used to buy gibson guitar polish in the spray can.Until I learned that pledge does the same thing for a lot less.

Welcome from the great? state of massachusetts.

I only use the wax on smooth surfaces(my red strat).I would never put it on a satin finish because it would never come off.(voice of experience). My original point is that the little gibson kit is just a bunch of overpriced cleaning products. Plus the paste wax requires a lot of elbow grease to remove the film.If the finish isn`t as smooth as glass or like that on a car.DON`T WAX IT.That is also why you try it on a tiny spot that cant be seen first.

Did you ever see the Gibson Guitar care kit.For 20.00 dollars you get a tiny bottle of fretboard cleaner(lemon oil).A tiny bottle of metal cleaner(chrome polish). And a tiny bottle of guitar cleaner(Pretty much pledge)A chamois that says gibson on it and a little brush. All things that no guitarist can`t live without.I asked some people with more time under their belts than I have. They said that there is nothing wrong with using pledge.Purists dont use it because it has a smell. So for less than 20.00 I went to wal mart and bought a big bottle of lemon oil,An aerosol can of favor furniture polish and a bottle of turtle wax chrome cleaner.Plus a 3 pack of bigger chamois[(es)? couldnt figure a plural for chamois].I didnt get the tiny little brush but I also didnt miss the tiny little brush after I lost it.So for less than the cost of the guitar care kit,I bought more than 10 times the amount of cleaning products in the kit. Then for good measure,I bought a can of old fashioned Johnson Paste Wax.Now I am all set to clean my guitars for a bit longer than I could with the gibson kit.  I learned all this from asking old timers what they use. Just keep in mind, what did people use long ago before these cleaners were invented? One hard lesson.Dont use Johnson Paste Wax on the bottom of the guitar if you want to play sitting down.It slips off your knee all the time. As always, try it on a small inconspicous spot first.Especially on a satin finish guitar.

Like I always say.Go to a music store and try all the amps in your price range. One of them may have the sound you are after whether it is tubes or solid state.Today`s technology probably has something that has the sound you want. You can always try out a pignose. They have a dirty sound that is pretty much all their own. Brand names are the last thing you should look at.Decide by what sounds best to you. While a big chrome Fender emblem or big white Marshall emblem looks cool on mtv. There are cheaper brands that can do the job.Also-don`t forget used

My pedalboard collects dust. My effects chain now consists of 2 cords and a DOD overdrive preamp which has served me well since 1984. In the 80s I wasted a lot of money on effects.

I never heard back so I am hoping she didnt get it. The only reason I told her to bid was because she would have kept bugging me. I am sure that since you play, that friends and relatives that don`t play think that every guitar they see is a gibson or martin and worth a fortune. Amazing what a lack of knowledge can do or cost.

I told her to go up to 80.00 to shut her up.I`m hoping the fur lined case she is talking about is a ahrd shell and not chipboard(cardboard).I like Yamahas but I have 3 already.I really don`t care if she loses the bid.But she will keep calling until its over. Not a bad time to go grocery shopping.

Remember when name brands were  ? I remember when a fender acoustic was expensive, same thing with peavey amps and yamaha guitars. What brings this to mind was a phone call I got from my sister in law in Maine. She was at an auction and she saw a yamaha guitar (F-325).It had a starting bid of 50.00. I told her to bid 50 and if she gets it,I would reimburse her. After researching that model,I found out that it isn`t a particularly expensive model.Worth the 50.00 but not much more. That is why I remember when these were expensive in the 80s.Now they are dirt cheap. While you get what you pay for, these are cheap at guitar center. I used to equate these brands with high quality. Now they are low budget with a major label. That`s it.

Still on the same wife.4 electrics,4 acoustics,1-6 string banjo and a lap steel,8 amps,1 PA.My daughter has 2 amps 1 acoustic,4 electrics,2 basses,1 uke, an organ and a keyboard, and she is only 14. Not to mention a drumkit so any drummers can travel light. There is so much that they probably all look the same to my wife. Some of these I have had for 30 years. I`ve been with my wife for 27 years. Never once have any of the guitars or amps ever complained about the room they take up. Truthfully,I never knew how many there were until I did this post just now. Talk about GAS

The first acoustic guitar I ever played was an ARIA.It played like a dream. It was also too expensive.I ended up with a Montaya. That is long gone. Then I got my yamaha which I still have. I still wish I bought that aria instead. That was in 1982.

Hey jgreen I used the ZEP stainless steel cleaner she uses on the dishwasher and fridge.Try it on a small spot first.Chrome polishes didnt work. One time I paid 60.00 at a detailing shop to have it removed. It looked so bad I had nothing to lose and it worked.(on mine)

it`s a matter of who is the boss of the house. That`s why she let`s me keep them in the music room downstairs.I keep the steel body upstairs because the cellar causes the chrome to get a film that is hard to remove.Every now and then I "thin the herd" by getting rid of extreme junk or cheapies. I NEVER ONCE CLAIMED THAT I WAS THE BOSS OF THE HOUSE

I have a Dot Studio. No fancy trim or shiny colors.Just a strippo with black hardware. It plays good but I had a major feedback problem so it doesnt get much use.My only pet peeve with epiphones is that they always seem to arrive poorly set up.Loose pots and plugs. An easy fix but still an inconvenience.
