Good Advice,Ranger
I love the sound of the Taylors also, and their electronics are great.I refuse to fight brand wars, it comes down to personal preferance.
I don't own a Taylor but I probably will soon, I have a HD-28 and a Yairi ,both having their own sound. I really like the taylors on fingerpickin songs. Most of the Taylors I have played have been impressive.
Good Luck Wayne
SouthPaw is right on, also there is a wealth of knowledge on the net with a little surfing.
I remember when I was a kid and my father, would listen to an old 45 record player and get the lyrics and tabs down by listening over and over, I am 54 years old and self taught by taking advantage of great sights like Chordie and others it is a new world in comparison.
The creators of Chordie have made me a much better player and singer..
Good Luck,Wayne
Thanks SouthPaw,
Thats what I've been hearing alot, that there are better mics out there at an affordable price,I am going to give one a try.Do you have to be as up close and in the mic as much as you do with the SM 58.
One thing I dont like about the SM58 ,if your lips aren't in contact with it you lose alot, sometimes just by turning slightly to acknowledge someone or maybe just swaying to the music.
Thanks again, Wayne
I have been using a Shure SM58 mic and I have 3 peavey mics, just wondering if there is something better out there without getting real expensive.
Thanks Wayne
I have to agree the polywebs sound better than the nanoweb, Ive been using them on my Yairi and Takamine for 7 years with no breakage problems.

Hey Topdown, I have had a few different acoustic amps and recently purchased a Fender Ultralight Acoustasonic. I it is a very small package and a little spendy I paid about $850. but unbelievable sound.I am thrilled every time i use it. If you get an opportunity check one out.
Thanks Wayne
I think ZappaDjango ,nailed a great list , I'll bet a lot of folks who rocked out to the band Heart, featuring the Wilson sisters didn't even realize it was a gal playing she did great electric and acoustic stuff. Also an evening listening to Bonnie Raitt doing some jamming is great.
Yes Ken has a right to his opinion, maybe we can turn him on to some female musicians and sway him.
A Chord Shape . progession in G as G C D would be in the key of C at the fifth fret. In A would be A D E Capoed at the 3rd would be in the Key of C No capo of course C F G would be the key of C . D shape progession would be D A G at the 10th fret to be in the Key of C. Do a search for capo conversion chart and I think you'll find it handy and soon you'll no longer need to use a chart.
Good luck., Wayne

Hello first off I have been using chordie for years and in the last year I have been throwing my 2 cents in here and there.
My name is Wayne 54 years old been playing seriously since my mid forties and I am from Gillette Wyoming.I play new & old stuff, lots of folk, alt and some country.Chordie is the best sight on the net for me,give me the lyrics and chord progression and I try to hammer it out.
Now to my problem:
I just recorded a video, with a canon camcorder and downloaded with Roxio 10. Creator, the video and audio turned out good but
I only get audio out of the left side speaker. my pc controls are balanced and every other thing I have played on it is Ok.I used an external mic on my camcorder is there some settings I'm missing.
Thanks Wayne

Hello, when I started fingerpicking I started with a D chord and played it over and over and didn't worry about changing chords, just thumb,1-2-3 fingers or thumb ,2-3 patterns it doesnt take that long and you will be comfortable with a G C D progression.
Just don't get locked into just fingerpickin like I did, keep strumming also or it is hard to get out of the habit of fingerpickin everything. If you get a good folk pattern down, branch out into some travis pickin also. You can do it.
I usually alternate the top 2 strings of a chord with my thumb,it is easier than it appears,if you have your chord changes down, you will be fingerpickin within a week.

I also have some Dunlop thumb picks i guess I just don't like that tight of a fit that the large gives me.I'm kinda fussy about the fit of my thumb.I usually go without fingerpicks tho I prefer the sound of flesh I guess. Thanks
Later Wayne
Thumb Picks, I play with thumb picks 50% of the time but most plastic ones are too small and I have small hands. My poor thumb starts crying for help!
My remedy for this is placing a thumb pick in the microwave and warming them up,careful just 15 to 30 sec. usually does it and then I spread it a little while it cools and then place it on my thumb for a good fit.

Hey James & Topdown ,thanks for the cool sights, now I have a few old standards to work on.
Thanks Wayne
I agree Doc ,some folks buy a brand just for attention or to belong somewhere. It is alot the same with Harleys, you see alot of what your referring there.I was riding & building choppers and repairing Harleys before it was cool. You see a lot of changes through the years and have to be more tolerant. I think alot of folks are just proud and excited about there new venture into Martin Guitars,Harleys or whatever turns their crank.
O to be young again!

I hate 80's music, but it makes me appreciate the late 60's & 70's more.
Wayne
I have been using Polywebs for years and prefer them over the nanowebs.I like them on my Yairi and takamine but i think they sound thin on my Martin.
