I certainly agree, Russell ... the parasites have given us a few welcome days off.

That's really a big thing to be proud of DE ... you deserve to poke your chest out about something like this!

I gotta go with Joni's version of the song, as she wrote it. Her smooth style and amazing voice give it more feeling than most other covers I've heard.

Hey Beamer ...

You've done a pile of research on this, which is always the best way to start. If I may suggest a lower-cost alternative to the Celestion speaker line, have a look at Warehouse Guitar Speakers. They have an extensive line with comparable matches to almost everything in Celestion's stable, at approx. half the price:

https://wgsusa.com/

I replaced the stock speakers in my Peavey VK212 a couple years ago with WGS speakers, and they're dynamite. Their chart gives the approx. Celestion equivalents, so you can pick what you want for sound easily.

All the best!

Rush   "Where's My Thing? Here it Is!"    Dallas, 2012

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKIc20Liw3c

Another amazing instrumental from the guys, featuring an energetic drum solo from Neil Peart. This is a kickin' song to have in the CD deck while driving. After being a Rush fan for over 40-years, it still amazes me how much music this trio can produce ... especially live. This song is originally from their 1991 album "Roll the Bones" ... cool album cover:

TIG ... I don't know what to say ... this one is off the charts. Excellent stories about the people you clearly love the most. The good Lord didn't give my wife and I any daughters, but two strapping boys instead. And of all the roles life asks of us, being a husband and a father have been the best.

And here goes the tears of joy again ... thanks, my friend!

Another pretty, meditative piece from Tobias ... love his soft touch and smooth transitions.

Greak work, TIG ... when I read it through a couple of times, I got a "Johnny B Goode" vibe from it.

Hope your recovery keeps moving in a positive direction, Graham ... and you get a big "Atta boy!" for the effort.

Like BlueJeep, I haven't had any problems with string breakage due to tuning. However (being somewhat lazy) I keep my Norman tuned in DADGAD, and the Cordoba in standard EADGBE. This covers off most of the music I play, and saves those extra few precious seconds. lol

Unitopia    "More Than a Dream"    Zoertemeer, Netherlands, 2010

Another excellent piece by one of Australia's top prog bands. This is the title track from their 2005 CD.

Heart-wrenching stuff, Phill ... but so true. I have yet to find a solution for this kind of sadness, that doesn't involve sticking my head in the sand and pretending to be ignorant. The message of your song reminds me of something I read once, and although this was written almost 50 years ago, it is more apropos today than it was then:

“Within the last century, man has leaped ahead in scientific achievement but has lagged behind morally, with the result that he is now technically capable of destroying the world, but morally incapable of restraining himself from doing so. Unless the nations of the earth become imbued with the spirit of peace and goodwill, it is highly probably that some trigger-happy politician will fire his shiny new rifle into the ammunition dump, and blow up the world.”  - A. W. Tozer, 1960

From their "SuREvival" album tour, released in 2005. I have no idea what the album cover means, but the music is terrific:

The wood is actually furniture grade lumber, and it took 2 trips with a half-ton truck to bring it all home. There's enough here to build a complete set of kitchen cabinets (and then some), but don't tell my wife ... it'll be a surprise for her birthday in April! wink Here's a pic of the stack I got, as it was shown on KIJIJI before I bought it. There was a bit of water damage on a few pieces, but I got it for approx. 1/3 of what it would cost at a hardwood dealer:

LOL ... I don't even know where that idiom came from, Zurf. I just know that Mesa Boogie amps have a real nice low-end growl (which is a good thing) so that's what popped into my head.

The Beatles   "Michelle"   (covered by Tatyana Ryzhkova)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C95R0tsX5rw

Here's a wonderful rendition of this Beatles' classic. I like that Tatyana plays with lots of emotion. It may just be my perception, but it seems that some classical guitarists can be somewhat "mechanical". She certainly isn't, and the joy is obvious.

Welcome to Chordie, CL ... from 1700 miles away on Canada's east coast. Good gang here, with lots of talent and technical ability. Along with being a terrific site to find info about songs you want to learn, Chordie is also a great place to ask those "Has anybody tried ________ ?" questions, and to get support for your own musical conquests.
