Wow. That totally worked, musically speaking. They did a good job editing. But like Cam said it's just wrong. Blasphemous.

I agree with bolleau. Maybe a real rockstar can bring something to the table that the show lacks. It is based on popularity because America votes for each person, but maybe, just maybe, Tyler will be able to make it a real talent based show.

On another note, I remember John Mellencamp (one of my favs) in an interview when Chevy trucks used one of his songs. He said that as an aging artist popular radio won't play his music. So he has to use other ways to get his music out in the public ear. I agree that Aerosmith is one of the greatest of all time, but does there new music get played to the masses? I think not. Maybe Tyler sees this as a way to keep on keepin' on.

On another another note, Maybe Tyler sees that music just needs a kick in the pants to keep it's evolution going. If he can have a hand in what's up and coming he can make a difference. Mentoring and inspiring new rock stars with what has made him such a successful rocker.

I say, if it works for you, makes you happy, helps others, and works for the greater good, then go for it.

I agree with Doug. Go test 'em out and see which you like best. I have the Behringer ACX450. I don't play out anywhere so I can't give any advice on that, but I do like the sound and I got it cheaper used so that sealed the deal for me.

I have the same problem. I have no ear for keys, notes, strumming, etc.

Toots nailed it with youtube. That's how I learn. I need to be shown how to do it. I search for lessons on the songs I want to learn and watch them over and ove until I get it.

Don't think of it as a rut, but a break. We can't always play when we want and as often as we want. But sometimes, no matter how much you love playing, you need a break. Same as a vacation from work/life. Just to get away from the "routine" of things. Alot of times a break is just what you need to improve. If you step back and relax for a bit you seem to play better than grinding it out everyday. Absence makes the heart grow fonder right? When you get back to it you will feel like you did when you first fell in love with it. I'm sure you'll get back to it.

A friend of mine has been wanting to learn to play for the past year. He was given a guitar and lessons for his birthday last year and only went to 2 of the lessons. I've sat down with him twice and showed him a few things but nothing more has come out of it. He always says he is too busy. I'm not saying he isn't busy, but that attitude isn't going to get him playing guitar. Like you said, "do it now". You have to make time for it. Everytime I see him I mention playing, but to no avail. Kicker is, he has a 5 year old that LOVES the guitar. Who better to sit down and play with him than his dad? I've used this angle to encourage him too.

Anyway, Taylor, you still have the desire for it so I don't think you have anything to fear. Four days is a good little break. I'm going on vaca for 2 weeks and won't have a guitar to play, so I'll be itchin' for it everyday. Don't fret, (haha) You'll be banging on it again soon I'm sure.

I have no idea about the key of a song. I for sure can't pick it out on the radio.

Southrnrockr - You nailed it on the head for me. Youtube is how I learn. If this were 50 years ago and we didn't have the internet, I wouldn't be playing guitar.

Ouch Topdown!!! I hope your wife isn't very vindictive. She might want to roast some marshmallows over a guitar flambe.

We sorta hit on this topic in another thread recently. Music is far from what it used to be and far from good now days. The 50' & 60's started it off and it was awesome. 70's fizzled, but still hung on. The 80's was a musical revolution that turned the music world upside down. The 90's fizzled, but again hung on. I think that is when music died. Since then nothing has been very original or good. There have been small revolutions but nothing sticks. The whole Britney Spears, cookie cutter tween queen thing is an example.

But in defense of good music, you have too look for it. Good music is not popular music anymore. Since the birth of Youtube and such, bands don't need big label record deals anymore. So good music is out there, it's just hiding. Wish I could find some tho.

I too think it's a generation thing. My favorite music is from the 80's. Although I was a little too young to attend concerts, 80's music was still very popular into that 90's. So I cut my teeth on it then. My thoughts are that we are in a rut. Sometime we will be hit with a new revolution that will turn music around. We just gotta wait for it.

I believe that should just be a standard 1/4" jack. You would need the female end. Something like this:

Radio shack should have this part I would think. It's not molded like the one from Artec tho.

Good luck!!

I agree with Jerome. Don't pay attention to what other people think. If you like it and it works good for you, then that's what you should have. I could never see myself spending $1000's on a guitar. Maybe if I was making a living playing guitar, but as a hobby, it's just not gonna happen. Like Zurf said, my money is better spent elsewhere.

It's really ugly tho. The guitar isn't that pretty to begin with. It's my Art & Lutherie. Black satin finish, not much to look at really. And with the yellowed binding it just looks sad.  guess there's not much I can do with it so it will stay as it is.

Very nice reconstruction Dr. Guppy. Hopefully the owner has not made another purchase yet. Well, may be we should hope he did so you can keep your patient.

Has the truss rod been adjusted yet? I was curious as to if it will handle the stress of adjustment since the anchor point area has been compromised.

I will often just start looking thru the songbooks. I get bored seeing the same songs over and over, but when I find one I forgot about it's a nice surprise. You can never think of the song you want to look up when you sit down to look it up. Randomness seems to work it's magic for us.

I think greatness is relative to who perceives it. If you can't play a lick then some one who can play decently is great. If you are a master guitar player you will only find greatness in a guitar god. You will have peers at the same level that you think are great, but greatness won't be found on the lower rungs of the ladder from where you are at. Great or not, whatever inspires you is what you need at the moment.

Happy NGD Wayne!

I agree with topdown, awesome tobacco burst. So what does historic collection really mean? 2005 isn't very historic. Gibsons are all built on by one so I don't think much has changed since the old days. HMMM, very interesting, maybe just a sales ploy?

Wow, at first look of the 3rd pic I thought it had been refinished. Man that's some serious fading. Funny tho, the black doesn't seem to have faded at all. I know red doesn't keep it's color as long as other colors but you would think it would have held up better since paints and stains were tougher back then.

I'll third that. You have to try diff ones to see what fits you and what you like. Try the ones at the top end of your price range as well as ones lower than what you are thinking of spending. Hands on is for sure a good way to get one that fits.

1.) I agree with the others. Repetition is key. When a favorite song comes on the radio how did you learn the lyrics? By hearing it lots of times. Besides if you're learning songs you know and like it should be easier to memorize. But like Deb said, one song can change into another if they are similar.

2.) I know under 20 songs so I don't have a problem remembering which ones I know. I would think that once you hit a certain point you cannot remember every song you know. That's where your songbook comes in. Pix has a 3" binder,(mine is 3/4") I'm sure that it's full of 100's of songs. Even professional musicians can't remember all their songs. That's one reason for rehearsal.

It's so sad to see something like that happen. Don't shippers care at all?

Funny side note. I used to have to ship car parts via UPS and the driver hated me. I would have to fashion boxes to fit things like mufflers with tail pipes attached and he would cringe when he saw a very odd shaped oversized box. But really in the end how bad is it for him? He just throws it on the truck and off he goes.

Wow , doesn't seem right does it?

According to the link in this post, we are posting less and less. Unless I misunderstood the info.
