It is great how writers can put themselves into someone else shoes and write about their life in a song. Like you said " hello in there" was written when he was 25, yet he sings it as if he is aged 85.
eric Bogle done the same with "and now I'm easy". he wrote that when he was younger but singing about life as a farmer in his 80'sHello in there is a powerful song about getting old and being old and respecting your elders. Or that is the way I see it.
Love it, but then I love all his songs.ken
Ken , Hello in There , is my favorite Prine song ,it was also my best friends favorite song and he passed away a few years back,it was a hard one for me to play and sing for awhile after he passed. We thought it was just a good song about old folks when we were younger but the older I get it takes on a new meaning.
It sounds great. I know EMMYLOU HARRIS SONGS but JOHN PRINE, I just know the name, thanks to CHORDIE, but I didn't listen to a song.
QUESTION: Is that concert or both performers something in the style of PLANT and KRAUSE? I love that album, in the AMAZON sale charts number one for weeks.
Hello again Doc,
Yes they are billed as playing together ,He has done some gigs with Bonnie Raitt and others, that were great.Oh the RedRocks Amphitheatre is 15 miles west of Denver Colorado.

Wow! Should be great concert. I admire both artists immensely and they'll be playing at a fantastic venue. Should be a great crowd.
One of my all-time favorite Prine songs is "Far From Me" off his first album. In just a few lines he tells a story that could fill a whole novel.
Harris's vocal talents are stunning. I have admired her musicianship for years.

Hello Everyone,
Not to brag but my family and I are going to see John Prine and Emmylou Harris at the Redrock Amphitheatre on June 6.My daughter is only 20 years old but she has a very broad musical liking, her and I have done some Prine songs since she was just a little girl.
I am excited I have wanted to see him for years, his first album come out when i just got out of High School, there was a group of us rowdy's that hung out together that knew every song on that album and through the years it never changed. Some of my old friends have past on and I will be thinkin of them,I have played and dedicated some of their favorites to them, but this will be much better.

Prinos Forever!
I have to agree,I have spent a lot of money on music accessories and the drum machines are complicated and sound cheesey. There may be some good ones if they are in the right hands but I haven't heard one.

Sorry Doc ,I was just joking,we were just giving my in law a hard time,i realize a vasectomy doesn't affect the vocal range, but it sure makes them nervous about their manhood.
Later Wayne
My brother in law sang falsetto for a couple days after his vasectomy.
Hello, the song is a three chord song of G C D progression ,the lyrics and chords can be found at www.countrytabs.com

Hey Thanks Toney,I will download them and then I have to listen to them over and over ,then my tired old brain will finally get them stored in the memory banks and I'm off.
Thanks, Wayne P
Anyone do any of their songs, I do "Friend of the Devil " and "Ripple" but I'm sure there are some other good ones to do on acoustic.
Thanks Wayne P

Trouble is you couldn't get in to Deadwood to get booked, too much ass deep snow"
Just took a trip through the Black Hills of South Dakota today some areas got between 3 and 4ft of snow, holy crap for snow.

Just received my new mic a Sennheiser 845 and first impression is great,I needed advice on a new mic and I think this is it. Thanks to Southpaw and others for the tip.

That's a good site,I have had alot of fun with" Oh Mary Don't You Weep Don't Morn " and "Pay Me My Money Down" especially if you have a group that wants to sing along.Springsteen is alright.

I think a good guitar player has as much to do with the sound as the guitar.I have a friend that can make any guitar sound great, but for the style I play I use my HD-28 the most, some times it makes the hair on my neck standup and that's a good thing.
I have a friend that has a 50's J-45 that has the most unique voice I have heard, hitting one chord you know it's him.It just has a great tone.
There are just too many good guitars out,to say one is better than the other. If it makes you feel good, play the hell out of it.It's personall preference,I belong to a Guitar Guild and we get together once a month, and it is fun to listen to the different guitars and how they sound.
Wayne P
Thank You, I think you hit the nail on the head Toney, I like all kinds of music, I love Blues can't play it very well tho,Love Rock can't play it very well ,aternative play fairly well, country not so well, folk can play fairly well. But i can't relate to the new techno, recycled rap.
Wayne P
Sorry Doc, Kinda got your thread off track a little.
Scarborough Fair , Parsley ,Sage ,Rosemary and Thyme.
Thought #2 Does Rap qualify as music.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been riding motorcycles for 40 years, building choppers and restoring old bikes, the memories of bike trips are the best ever.Sharing the trips with friends is the best.
Pulled into Deadwood SD in 1977 on a bad azz chopper I had just finished building and pulled up in front of the Ranger Bar,still had Brothels upstairs then and live music at the bar. Picked up a young lady that wanted a chopper ride, fortunately it was in the days of hotpants and my buddies were so impressed watching us pull away with nothing but a tailight and butt cheeks to be seen they built choppers for the upcoming season.

Beat up and off duty sheriff over a girl, maybe not so stupid until I started paying for it over and over.
Now I am older and wiser, still a Lover but not a fighter!!!!

I think learning the major keys , relative minor is very useful on the road to playing also and it is not too complicated for anyone.

OOps! I should have looked at all the posts ,Roger had my line of thinking covered!!!
I've Been playing everyday for 10 years and I know 3 chords and 3 songs. Not really it's kind of a family joke. I can play most songs by ear if not to complex and I love to play and sing, and that was one of my goals to be able to entertain myself and others.
I think playing with others helps more than anything with progress.
Good Luck Wayne
