It is my favorite event of the year. Lots of cultures come from all over the world and converge at the stadium. I LOVE it. Very diverse, very fun, tons of drink.

Wish I knew you came out. I was in section 9 on Saturday. Next time you're around LMK and maybe we can jam at The Lilly Pad.

And then after Denver wins you'll be insufferable for another few weeks?

I've modded all my guitars then. New nuts, new pots, new capacitors for treble bleed, and new pickups in all but the 335.

You count new pickups and stuff like that?

Jerome that's a great idea and i'm stealing it.

My left shoulder and arm is Jimi Hendrixed up. His face, the words "Voodoo Chile," a stylized stratocaster and the artist's reimagination of the Axis:Bold as Love cover art.

You might consider interval training or solfeg training, too. Well worth the time and effort.

Thanks y'all.

I'm not flatpicking dino. wink That's been key to softening up. Still working on RH technique when soloing.

I agree with Grah1. Do your own thing. Just make sure you are also practicing new skills so you can progress.

Focusing on pick grip seems to be helping a lot. I also went heavier on the picks and I'm currently playing around with Dunlop Primetone Gypsy Jazz 5mm. Huge mammer jammers.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Most of the time a song is going to start on a chord tone. Hit that note in the chord right before you start singing, hum in quietly in your head voice, and then start belting.

In my experience progress is what happens between plateaus. Sometimes I play through my plateaus. Other times I get frustrated and put the guitar down for a week or month or two. In your case, I would encourage you to pick one or two leads that you like and learn them note by note.

I use big-ass jazz teardrops or super thick tortexes. I have never liked thin picks for the tone they produce. I tried Tyson's pick grip suggestion for a while this morning and it seems to be helping. I think I just clamp down too much....

I'm a pinky anchorer as well!

Tyson I like the pick grip suggestion...i haven't looked at that in a while. Been focusing mostly on my left hand tension. Off to the woodshed.

This is a tough song! Lots of chord subs. Looks like he's starting on a D dim but the cello is playing a bass line to (I think) imply a Bb7 chord. And I do believe he is resolving with a ii-V-I turnaround to a major 7th chord but can't tell for sure.

This is jazzy jazzy stuff. You might start by Googling "rhythm changes," learn those ( I-VI-ii-V) and then sound out the substitutions from there.

@dino I tried to play with 12s and 13s. Problem there is I do a ton of string bending and that s*** hurts. After a few months of trying to man up I just got tired of it lol.

@z Good suggestion. I pick very very shallow so on electric waiting for pick flex would actually slow me down because I'd have to put more pick on the string, if that makes sense. I also don't play with the pointy end of the pick..i play with an outside edge of it. SRV played with the round edge but I never liked the way that felt. I have started holding more pick on acoustic and also doing lots of strumming with thumb and fingers, but for the electric I think I just need to play lighter. I am also having some muscle tension issues in my shoulder because I tense up when I play on the electric. To your point though I just ordered some new pick shapes and sizes to noodle with.
