Hello, I don't have this song in my songbook but I listened to the melody and played it,I don't know if there is a correct way but I finger picked it with a thumb, middle and ring finger pattern and I alternated the thumb on the bass line, added some walkdowns and hammerons and it sounds nice.

Good Luck, Wayne P

I think you will find like Ken said, you will have to start out with some folk type songs and gradually expand with your abilities,I was a rock and blues guy until I decided i was gonna learn to play guitar.I still listen to the blues and some rock but I'm not good at either so I play alot of acoustic alternative rock, folk and some country and enjoy it alot.I have small arthritic hands but I play some stuff fairly well.I started playing when I was a kid and life got too busy and I picked it up again 10 years ago and it is the best project I have ever taken on.Just make a commitment and keep at,practice every day and in couple months you will be jamming and having a ball.

The campground jamming is so much fun, I don't make it  to watch the headliners much, but there is some super talent playing around many campfires all through the night and I'll be there trying to throw in a few licks.

I believe if you raise your kids to respect their elders and others and give them the best guidance you can ,you have to let them make their own choices and if you have done a good job most of the time they will make the right choices.

Yea ,you go from being ashamed to wanting to crawl in a hole everytime the subject is brought up and you think people are watching you squirm it is a very tough thing and just doesn't seem to get easier, and answers never come.

Thank You, Wayne P

Nice song, I lost my dad in 1979 I was in my twenties and just starting to grow up,I think of him everyday and wonder why.
Suicide is something that leaves a family scarred and wondering for years.Life is full of a lot of bumps in the road I guess.

Oh and I'm just referring to how i lost my dad and how I can relate to losing a father.

God Bless, Wayne P

The Red Rocks made every song sound like a dream, just fantastic.

Thanks Wayne

We made it back thru all the wild traffic in Denver . The concert was a 10. Emmylou opened the show with her band and played or about 1 1/2 hr.
John played his show with a bass player and a lead guitarist. The bass player played a large upright bass most and some bass guitar, the lead player is a young fella named Jason Wilbur and is excellent lots of slide guitar and he also played mandolin and harmonica.
The sound is the best i have ever experienced ,Red Rocks Amphitheatre is really something.I have been a fan of Prines since his first album came out, when I was a senior in High School, I was a little worried since John has had some health problems but it was really something special, John opened with Spanish Pipedream with his band and after awhile played about five songs solo and that was great.Emmylou come out and sang 3 duets with John and that was really nice.

Here"s  a list of songs not in order, I missed a couple but my memory is not so good.

Opening Song "Spanish Pipedream"

Spanish Pipedream
Blue Umbrella

Sweet Revenge
Hello in There

Please Don't Bury Me
Thats the way The World Goes Round

I have a Digitech Vocal 4 harmonizer and it is alot of fun and I think it sounds very good.It has nice effects and I think it works best when used on the chorus of songs and do the verses without. Your listeners will come to attention when you kick it in for the chorus. I have heard others and the vocal 2 AND vocal 4 are using new technology and are the only ones that sound good with nice guitar effects and vocals.

You will have better luck going for the Marshall Tucker Band,Yes the strumming pattern is close to that but I believe the hammer ons, walkups  and and chord embellishments and getting the beat down on the song are just as important if you want this song to sound good.

I believe Woody Guthrie was the first I know of to do it ,but anyway I play Amazing Grace using the chord progession of The House of the Rising Sun and fingerpicking it sounds nice.

Hello Jerome, I like that one too, if you like John Prine you might like a Canadian Singer Songwriter   Fred Eaglesmith  he has some great tunes and some on the lighter side also.

He aint been laid in a month of Sunday"s
Caught him once he was sniffin my undies

I think that Russell is being honest with you,but on the Bright side you are changing chord progressions pretty well and If you get a chance to play with others you will get your timing and strumming down and  will become better and the big thing is you want to be better,Don't give up as most others do.
I think a survey should be done on how many begin and how many stick with it.

Good Luck ,Wayne P
