Re: Why do you like the music you like? (24 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I guess for me its blues because all the music I enjoyed in the 60s/70s was derived from the blues and the more I researched the deeper my interest became although a lot of my own stuff that I write now comes out a bit folky and countrified I still feel its mostly rooted in the blues .

Know what you mean Nela, its coming up to moonshine time here in Crete Raki brewing starts at the end of this month .
I suspect the reason Lou has made this system is its a bit of a protest against the authority's stopping the use of amplification in bars unless they are licenced and the artists are all insured. I didn't think The west of the island had been affected but it looks now if they too have been .
Another friend who has a taverna in Sitia where we live recently had his place closed for 10 days and received a heavy fine .
Businesses are struggling to make ends meet with out the government driving the customers away, Maybe Lou has the answer.

Thanks dino yeah I do like the ovation its been great it stays in tune regardless of weather conditions .Ive played it in 40 degrees no problems .
I dont think it has the tone of my Eko or my Squier but for an everyday go to guitar its great. The bowl back can be awkward if you don't use a strap.

No problem to a name change .Chordiefest Chordiejam any others come to mind.
What views do we have about structure ,concert format where every one gets a slot of alocated time ,folk club format where we go round the group in turn and others join in or listen.Open mic format ,3 songs and your off.
Maybe a guest pro player if we can find one wiling

Settle gate way to the Yorkshire dales Norm but my thoughts would perhaps favour the Midlands for easy access to the motorways

I've just had a look at the Rascals song and lyrically there are some similarity's but maybe the same thing could be said about many blues songs using the same style of lyric .Though I do see what you mean Dino

C
I have been a rolling stone
G
and I have been a dreamer
F G C
But there’s times when I’ve, not been around.
C
One thing kept me going
G
to know you’d be there waiting
F G C
every time I'd come back into town.
Chorus
F G
Babe I’m like a falling star
C
I’m heading into darkness
F G
Burning like a beacon bright
Am
Then fade into the night
F G
Roaring like a hurricane
C
or the storm that does surround us
F G
Soaring like an aeroplane
Am
You always make me high
C
I've been wrong, I’ve been right
G
I might stay out late at night
F G C
but I'll always make my way back home
C
There’s a place that’s best for me
G
and that’s where I want to be
F G C
long as your there I wont ever roam
Chorus
F G
Babe I’m like a falling star
C
I’m heading into darkness
F G
Burning like a beacon bright
Am
Then fade into the night
F G
Roaring like a hurricane
C
or the storm that does surround us
F G
Soaring like an aeroplane
Am
You always make me high .
F- C G
Life is good but its been a long time coming
F- C G
Life is good and it treats me good today
F- C G
when I look at you and I know how much I love you
F C G C

Re: chordie stock uk maybe? (12 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
So basically we need to get this ball rolling .As I am in Crete until the beginning of 2015 somebody in the UK needs to source a venue.
Volunteers please.
Many of the hotel chains like premier inn ,holiday inn travel lodge, best western etc will have a function room available, probably free if we can guarantee booking a certain number of rooms, Same applies to private venues.
An event like this properly organised and presented will promote Chordie and be a lot of fun too.

How many UK Chordians would be up for Chordie stock UK if it became a reality.
As I will be in the UK for some time in the new year I thought maybe it would be a good idea if members can register their interest then we can see if it will be worthwhile organising.
Perhaps a midlands venue would be the best place central for every one.

Re: Treno Fantasma (6 replies, posted in My local band and me)
Thanks Rich it certainly is fast and hard to keep up with .The song tells of a Ghost train and the journey some one is taking on it and how his life plays out like a wild west movie ,the literal translation is a bit hard to follow but I'm working on it .The original is by The Wooden Swords a greek rock band and its written by Pavlos Pavlides who does some pretty cool tunes .
