Amazing you were able to play at all yesterday once i saw that bandaged finger.

And yea -I've lost nails in the past and they always grew back no problems. It's a job hazard for most newbie carpenters.

For what it's worth, I got this message from Skype:

Hi there topdown67,
    www.skype.com

Your group video trial has started
Your free trial is active until Mar 21, 2012.

For the next 7 days you can make group video calls for free with three or more friends and colleagues.

Who knows how long my trial will last? 7 days or until March 21? whatever - I'm glad to share my free trial with the rest of the group as long as it lasts. It seems to me like we should milk the free trials as long as we can smile

I can't wait to hear it!

(And I'm always in the market for a bargain on used effects pedals!)

Way to go JX3! Isn't it amazing what playing with other musicians can do for your outlook and attitude!

BGD - I am most certain this will be a regular gathering. Join us next week!

3 hours? - closer to 4! An absolute blast - would love to see others join this chordie sing around the world event!

Zurf buddy - considering that finger injury you were quite the soldier playing along.

What Zurf said - this is a blast 3+ hours in

Sonnya - you should follow and sign op for the Picks Around the World package - there are (or at least were) several dozen different types and styles of picks to try-out.

I'd love to participate. I know Guitarpix has done similar projects, so maybe he could recommend the best platform. I know google and yahoo both offer video chat, but I don't know how it works for groups? What do ya say Pix - what works best?

Thanks Jeff - I'd hate to lose the history of the original thread. With your permission, I'm going to lock this thread.

beamer - this project has been around for a few years now. Here is the original thread.

The package has been "around the world" several times by now.

It sure would be cool to keep the original thread going rather than responding in this thread. It's neat to see the longevity and pics in the original thread to see who has received the package and how it's evolved.

gander - welcome to the chordie forum!

I just wanted to make sure you were aware you have replied to a post that is over 5 years old from a member who hasn't posted for over a year. It is very unlikely he will read your reply. I'd suggest you send him a email by using the email link under his user info on the left of the post.

Or better yet if you are looking for jam partners, start a new topic by telling the community more about yourself and your jamming desires! Don't worry about being a duffer (as you call it) - we've all been through the same learning stages.

^ I agree - why limit yourself? Multi-tasking is where its at!

I was born in '64, and my folks were a bit older than the "early rock" era. Dad was a Sinatra  / Dean Martin / Harry Belafonte fan, Mom was more of a Folk fan - Donovan, Kingston Trio type stuff. By Mom's younger sister, My Aunt Martha (sounds like Matha with a Long Island accent) was a true hippie. Beatles posters all over the room, even drove a hippified bug convertible.  So I'd say, vists with Aunt Matha was probably my first Rock'n Roll experiences. Definitely tons of Beatles, but I also remember some beach Boys, Buddy Holly and some Hermin's Hermits from her box of 45s that she would play for us in her room.

Hi David and welcome to chordie. I searched your IP address and it appears you are from the D.C. area. There are few chordians from that area that get together once in a while to jam.

Check out this thread about an upcoming get together

I hate strum pattern questions because I really think the only way to learn them is to "feel" the song and develop them yourself. I doubt I ever strum the same song with the same pattern twice.

That said as a newbie, I totally understand getting hung up on patterns as I was the same way starting off. Welcome to chordie talkingrock, here's a vid that may help with your question.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E9cDytsOmA

He discusses strumming towards the end.

Hope that helps, but I encourage you to experiment with your own patterns and learn to feel the song and strum whatever sounds good!

Reminds me of my candy apple red mustang! SWEET!

Toots - You have an amazing ear. Sussing out the major chords is awesome enough, but throwing in augs, dims, minors, sharps and flats - that's just showing off! Mucho respect my friend.
