i have seen Brian adams doing Summer of 69 as a very slowed down acoustical song and it was brilliant. Seemed like a different song.

sounds good but there are a few other sections you could include that have been asked for in the past but never got a section ( sorry, canny remember exactly what ones)

Like Roger said, what would actually be allowed in it? what should be in it?

As it happens just now people still post wherever they like. I dont think they mean to most times, I see it as not looking for the rellevant section most times, and other times people might not have a clue how to use a forum. This would lead to more moderating to remove from one section and put in another.
Saying that, it is not that hard or too much hassle to move a topic,

I know a few here that would make good moderators for a section like this, some that have far greater knowledge than I and a lot of others do.

Lets see what Per says

murasame,

Like Russell said, put some chords to it.
When you do it will then be a song.

Also I moved it from the chat section to the songwriters section. We have sections to catergorize threads so the sections stay tidy and no mumble jumble.

thank you thank you thank you

if it is just to put your own recordings on then ye can get a very cheap MP3 player a 256mb (for about £15)one unless you have loadds and loads songs.
if it is just to store them then you could get a memory stick at a low price.

check out that internet auction online

It's not all about lead licks - It's about creativity. And nobody did it like The Who before or since.

so true!!!!

As a guitarist/composer Pete is in my top 3 of songwriters of all time because of his creativity.

This thread has made me listen to more of my who albums. Today I was listening to "faces dances" their last studio album and although it has a bit...or quite a bit of synth it also has superb guitar stuff on the last two tracks. They are live tracks and you can hear just how much he is playing. The two songs.....How can you do it  ( a bit different from the recorded version) and John Entwistle's " the quiet one" Pete's guitar on this track is far far far better than the recorded version. And to let you know how tight a band they are or were the recorded version and the live version there is only a difference of seconds in the time of play.
bad thing, or not bad but something I think was missing was Moon's drumming. Kenny's drumming is excellent though it is very structured and perfect.

a few other of pete's great guitar work ( although dont go looking for "guitar hero" solos are

The man in the purple dress
I am one
Squeeze box,
going mobile
I can see for miles seeker
and listen carefully to the guitar only in "who are you" ignore all other instruments.

thank you and thank you and thank you for and on behalf of everyone else that moderates, administrates, runs, visits and uses the site ( have  icovered everyone ?)

All the moderators and administrators do all help volunterally because we love it so much to and probably we have too much time on our hands lol ( I am speaking on behalf of myself here)

Everyone that likes this site can get involoved with bands they like.
If you find yourself going to one particular artist you can become an editor for that artist. You can sort out songs so they do not keep appearing, i.e get rid of the "best of" albums and duplicate albums such as imports etc. This would shorten the page and make it easier to find songs and also helps others find songs easier.
I have done a few like John Prine, Pink Floyd and a few more.

Or you can just carry on enjoying the site. smile

thanks Ozy for that,

Thankfully we do not get many spammers anymore after the website ownder done something to stop that.
That is not to say the increase in members were not spammers trying to spam but couldnt.

Cheers

he has quite a bit of solo work, in fact the last WHO album I would say is Pete Townshend with guest star Roger ,lol.
He also done an album wit hthe late Ronnie Lane from SSmall faces, brilliant album, more of a bluesy sort of album.
but if you ever get the chance to listen to the album "Odds and Sods" you will hear superb guitar work from him. Some of the songs from this album were redone and put on who's next, i.e "pure and easy" it sounds much better on odds and sods because like you say about synths etc, too much of that on who's next but still sounds good to me.

Also if you watch the who live and it is only Pete on guitar ( when roger hasnt got one strapped round him pretending he can pull it off) you will see how much work he actually does with the guitar, with no rythum guitar to back him up I think he desreves a place in the top ten.

go for it!!!

nothing wrong with experimenting. if it doesnt work out then just put uke strings back on
My father in law experiments a lot, he has put mandolin strings on banjos and some other strings on other things, lol. I am not too sure what he has exactly done but he plays about and does stuff like this.

you have not listened enough of Pete Townsshend then, lol. he is mr rock.
he might not do outstanding guitar hero solos but then he doesnt claim to be a guitar hero. His riffs and a few of his solos make him get in the top ten.

long live rock

This morning while I was messing around with the guitar making my daughter laugh I ended up with this song. So instead of my usualu and not doing anything I decided to rewrite it all down with the chords and record it and even put it on My space  http://www.myspace.com/codhiu

it is a bit of a joke song with some seriousness in it.

Hio Joe

There is no option for lyrics only but if you have some time you can go into the songs in your songbook and edit them, take the chords out so in your songbook it just has the lyrics.

Hi Chuck,

I know the creator of chordie ( Per) was going to get another site running, a site where you could put your own original songs on. I dont know if he is still planning to do this, or having trouble wit hit or too busy keeping chordie going.
maybe he will see this and answer your question?

I use youtube a lot and I like it because not only can I put my own original stuff on, i also put me doing covers on.
There is also a " fridns of chordie" on my space and another one in youtube, so although not on this actual site there are sites where members of chordie can share our music. ( but I know what ye mean by having a place on chordie for members)
