My Dad played guitar and his Idol was Chet Atkins.Jerry Reed was also one of his favorites. The last 10 years I have really gotten in to guitar playing, I was too stubborn to take my dad's help and advice when he was alive. The more I watch Jerry I am amazed at his ease and style.I can really see why my dad was so into these two late great musicians.

I was playing a few tunes the other morning before going to work and the songs I played made me feel so good.I wanted to share it and it seems I'm not the only one that has enjoyed the work of Bob Dylan and Neil Young, gotta go "Heart of Gold" is going through my head . I'll have to go play it again.

There are some great videos of him on Youtube,an excellent guitar player that seem to be very nonchalant about his skills, anyway he was fun to watch and listen to.

Both have been a big influence on me and I appreciate both,I love Neil's guitar playing, kinda simple with a lot of walks and hammer ons , Bob Dylan more for his off the wall lyrics and chord progressions.Just wondering what others thought of their contributions.

Alot of country is mostly down strums with an alternating bass line, G chord strum 6 string then the chord next strum the 5th string just alternate.C chord is a little trickier the way alot of country players do it strum the 5 string first and the chord and then move your ring finger up to the 6th string G note and strum the chord and alternate back and forth. For the d chord strum the fourth string open  and the chord and then strum the 5th string open A  and D chord. When you get that down you can add some walkups and walkdowns.Russell had a vid that explained them very well.

Hey Pix, That is a sweet lookin guitar,I thought mine was a little drab when I bought it but after playing it for awhile I was so blown away by the sound that looks don't matter that much anymore.I would go for the bridge pins and a cool guitar strap and leave the rest alone.

Hotel California is a song I have jammed with for hours with a  b minor pentatonic scale.

Hello Doc, In my neck of the woods a county Sheriff is  elected to uphold the law throughout the county and he hires deputy's as needed. The cities have Police the Hiway's have State Troopers and the sheriff is in charge of the rural areas. They do also have jurisdiction in the city and hiway, but concentrate more on the entire county.

Hello Doc, yes they made some beautiful music, check out " White Bird" one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. They were a little differnt than  most rock bands and I don't think they got the credit they deserved.

Hey Topdown, I see you were on the acoustic guitar forum and had a look at the tobacco burst model like yours, I am liking that one a lot, I usually don't care much about pretty but that is a cool looking guitar if they sound as good as they look.I am just wondering if the dreads would have more punch.I kinda like the old cowboy lookin guitar like my HD-28.I sure wish somebody had a store full of them i could give a try.

Topdown,

Were you able to find these guitars in a store to play before you purchased yours or did you, hear one,I go to alot of guitar stores but I  haven't seen any.

I live in wyoming and it is very dry here and my guitars don't like it .I have a HD-28 that is very vulnerable to the temp changes and dry heat.My other guitars can handle it better.I would like to hear more about your guitar.I like a booming bass and a full rich sound.

Thanks Wayne P

The great thing about music is, it bridges generation gaps and can bring pros, doctors ,lawyers, bluecollar and homeless together.

Hello Old Doll,

I have watched this video several times in the past couple months, I play this song and have picked up some tips from Mark and I can relate to his exspressions at the end of the video. Anyone that plays out or in front of people knows that you are very open and vulnerable.

I believe that we should just feel blessed to have had both performers here to leave their mark. I cannot criticize either one, any musicians as dedicated and talented as they were don't come around often.

Hello Ken, you can play my guitars anytime , I don't beat on my gutiars but I dont baby them either,I have guitars that are meant to play.

i never have washed my hands before playing, or i would not wash them for the purpose of playing.
After I play I put it back on it's stand.

I give the guitar a good servicing with a duster when i change the strings every 3 months or so. If I have not picked the guitar up in over a week then i might give it a rub down with my grubby hands.

I bet no one wishes to lend me their guitar now lol

Gosh, darn it anyways, I guess i'll have to watch my potty mouth sometimes it can be a real corker, shoot fire,my mom says I'm a rotten buggar.
