The link came up as a download so I didn't listen to it. But what song is it? Did you look for the chord sheet on chordie?

Is "bad" a key? If so, I got that one nailed.

Anyone ever clean out the inside of their guitar? I just cut a soundport in another one of my guitars and the dust bunnies don't like me peering thru the hole at them. Aside from blowing them out with air I can't think of a good way to get 'em out.

I can't believe the destruction in Japan. My parents actually live In Misawa, way up north. But they have been in Las Vegas looking for a house for the past 2 weeks. Glad for that. But my mom has family in Sendai tho. We haven't & won't hear anything until they go back in 2 more weeks. My wife, son, and I were just in Japan visiting my parents last September. Crazy thing is that our original plans were to go on my son's spring break from school which is the last week of this month.  We had traveled thru some of these cities on a trip from the north down to Tokyo. So even tho it's a far away place, it's not so far, hits too close to home.

All I can do is pray for the whole country as they face their challenges each day.

I read topdown's link. Why not just glue it in place? If it were to ever break off it could be drilled out right?

Are you sure you're over the flu? It might have affected your brain. With your avid hate for the B I can't believe you're gonna try it. Good luck my friend!!!!

Can you post a link to the vid for us. Any tips and tricks to make the evil B easier are welcome.

The finish is gonna be a black to natural burst in satin on the front. The sides and back will be natural in satin.  I was going to do it all natural but since I found the sandthru I opted for the black burst. Similar to the green one is Pix's post but with more black.

Pix, thanks for the info on the soundport. I still might reinforce it just to make me feel better. I am not sure about the mahogany. The back has similar grain to the ones in your pic. I'll post more when I get the front stripped. The tag inside doesn't say anything about mahogany tho. The red/brown that was on there kinda looks like the antique burst models. It was almost the same color as the neck.

I'm itching to work on it, just don't have the time.

Hey Baldy,

I have two tats. One is a 3 nail cross on the outside of my calf and the other is my son's name in Japanese on the back of my arm. There are a few more I want to get but I wouldn't say I'm addicted. My wife doesn't like them at all but she lives with it. Everytime I want one she makes a big fuss, but then when she sees them it's not that big of a deal.

Greyson chance

Don't know how many of you have seen this kid recently. He is really awesome. Very talented.

This is a video from a school talent show last year.

This is his brand new music video being played right now.

My question is, how are people like Greyson Chance and Justin Beiber in the same industry? Talent verses image/hype, how does that work? It sorta bugs me really.

Congrats Papa!!! You can't pass up a great deal even if you're not looking to add to your collection. But maybe next time you should just drop off your guitar and leave. It might be a cheaper visit to the shop.

Welcome yeti!!!

Have a go with Justin, he's awesome. Chords, theory, ear training, he covers it all.

Here's some info on soundport sound. I found no diff in the outward projection. I really can't even hear the diff overall unless I cover the port then uncover it while hitting the strings.

welcome Kelsey!!!

Cadd9 is the same shape as a G chord.

Index finger on the 2nd fret 4th string

Middle finger on the 3rd fret 5th string

Ring finger on the 3rd fret 2nd string

Funny, this whole time I've been playing it with my ring finger on the 3rd fret 1st string.

Anyway, have a go and good luck!!!

Wow Zurf, you really like fishin' huh. My dad is a big fisherman. He's been fishin' all his life. When I lived at home I would go with him all the time. We lived in Georgia for a couple years awhile back. His dad bought us a nice pontoon boat and we went out EVERY weekend. It was really fun. My dad landed a 12 lb largemouth one one of those trips. But now my fishin' trips are few and far between. I try to get my son out every once in a while just so he can be outside, like a little boy should be. We just end up fooling around with bluegill and warmouth. We have fun though and that's what matters.

Hey all!! I've been wanting to share my refinishing project so I finally took some pics of it.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5084/5307975129_96a513c0eb.jpg
So this is my Art & Lutherie Wild Cherry. I love this guitar. If plays so easy!! But I hated the satin black finish and painted on rosette.
I decided to start tinkering with stripping the finish. Boy was it messy.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5163/5358347425_cd6eec7882.jpg
Here is the back all stripped and cleaned. I like the cherry grain.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5206/5358349607_fd6ec90683.jpg
Here is the front as of right now. I haven't gotten around to it yet. I want to do it when I have time to finish the whole project so it's un-strung for as short as possible. I'm gonna lose the black pic guard and go with a clear static cling one like I put on my Yamaha A/E.

Something I found tho. There are a few spots on the front that show sandthru of the top veneer layer. I don't know if it's been refinished before. Also the back and sides were the same color under the black as the neck is. A sort of reddish brown.

Pix inspired me to tackle a soundport. It wasn't all that hard to do. I still need to fiberglass the inside of the port, which I should have done before cutting it out, but oh well. I had a hard time deciding on a shape. I liked the guitar pic shape but wanted something different. So I went with the cross. It was alot more intricate so I made the cross fit into the guitar pic shape. That way if I messed up the cross I could just cut it out into the pic shape. I hit the side of the neck while rubbing with acetone and stripped a little off the heel. Notice the filler between the port and the neck. Some idiot drilled a hole for a strap pin there and just below the heel on the back. That's one reason I got it so cheap I think.

Another cool thing about A&L. This leaf on the inside of the guitar on the bottom of the neck block. Dare I say it's a leaf from a cherry tree?

Couple of questions, Would sandthru occur at the factory knowing it would be covered up? Why the brown under the black? And only on the sides and back?

I will finish it in the spring when the weather is a little nicer. I'm gonna go with a black to natural burst on the top because of the sandthru. The back and sides will be natural. All satin clear. I'm not doing the neck or headstock. So that's where it's at to date. I will post more when I get more done.

Finally got around to snappin some pics of my gear.
