I forgot his name(help me anyone). The drummer for the Atlanta Rythym Section died today.I know this is a guitar site , but how many music people have died recently. I just hope it wasn`t from cancer. I hate cancer. I really do.

Bed of coals by Warren Zevon.Cold Shot by Stevie Ray Vaughn.  I have never thought of playing it but who remembers  Alone Again Naturally by Gilbert O`sullivan. That song would make anybody reach for a rope.

Robin Gibb died today at 62 from cancer. If cancer were a person, wouldnt you like to take it and beat the s#&* out of it. It is personal,It boils my blood when someone dies of cancer,no matter who it is.

Same here.I`ve been playing for 30 years. It all depends on your mood, how you feel (tired, sick). Some days my playing is flawless and some I sound awful.Even on songs I`ve played forever. It happens all the time.It will happen again,I`m sure

That`s huge news over here in massachusetts. It`s the opening story on all the local news channels. I`m not a disco fan but it`s always sad when someone dies.

13s!!! If your car breaks down, you can always use  them as a tow rope. Those are some thick strings

One time at work,A manager was explaining to a new hire that the only stupid question is the one you don`t ask. So I asked him"If the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, what would a cinder block do?" Some people have no sense of humor. Believe it or not,I`m no stranger to getting in trouble at work because of my mouth. What is the most stupid question you ever asked someone?

J3,
The Yamaha SJ-180 is a great guitar. I've owned two. This past week I narrowly escaped GAS and passed on a nice used FG-331 - the predecessor to the SJ-180. I really like the 000-esque body size and these guitars defy the common opinion regarding the substandard sound of all-laminate guitars. These guitars sound good!

If you're interested in something possibly more special than the SJ-180, get your hands on a SJ-400S. This is the solid-top version. You will rarely find anything about these but there are a few out there.

I also owned a CJ-818 - the jumbo all-laminate - a great guitar as well. A glimpse of mine can be found on my YouTube Channel. i think it's in my first "Noodleroni" installment.

But, yes, the SJ-180 is a fantastic guitar.

p.s. I've been talking to the seller of an FG-110.  It is the original folk body which led to the SJ-180, etc. This one was made in 1970.
p.p.s:r J3, what the heck are you  doing up at 3:38am?

thats nice to know about the fg-331.I have seen some for sale. Now I may take a second look.As far as a jumbo goes,I like thde feel ofa folk size guitar. Also, I work for Frito Lay.I started at 4:30 today.

My favorite guitar is my Yamaha sj-180.I have had it for 28 years and it never fails. It is not a dreadnought but the body is a bit smaller.Enough to feel the difference.Sound and action are great. And easy on the wallet.I paid 125.00 for mine.It was damaged in shipping and repaired. The neck and headstock were damaged and it had a few scratches and dings on it.The repair is still holding.Just had a setup done last year and it is better than ever.Looks awful, covered in stickers.I have 2 other Yamaha acoustics and I always go back to this one.Anyone else ever had the pleasure to own one of these. What did you think?I always consider these to be one of the most underated guitars made

I always wanted a Shelby Mustang or the original cobra`s.(the one with the 289).I don`t see that happening anytime soon. I have it parked in my dream garage next to the austin healey 3000. I get car and driver in the mail. That will be huge news in the next issue.

You are so right Scott. Already started putting another band together.I don`t feel the least bit bad about the last one because I called them. They didn`t call me. When it feels like work,it becomes work. If I want to work,I can do that tuesday thru saturday. I spent sunday morning doing yardwork and it was more relaxing than being in that band.

Another band is done.I think I`m done with playing in bands myself.Too much backbiting and throat cutting. Oh well,at least it was quick. A good chance to get some work done on the house and backyard. Even spend some time with family. It isnt a bad thing. I did place another ad and got 2 replies already. Still keeping a cynical attitude.

Happy birthday again Roger. I think I beat everyone early this morning.

Heres a wierd subject.Have you ever had a nightmare about a song. One was "BETTER CHANGE" by Dan Fogelberg. Was heavily into substance abuse then and the words in this song were in a nightmare.  The other is  "MARY PROVOST' by Nick Lowe. It is a true story. It was a song I loved to play. So I looked up Marie Prevost online and read the whole story and saw pictures of her and everything.(BIG MISTAKE). Now that there is a face to match the name, every time I play this I have a nightmare about it. Go figure.Strange but true. How many of you has this happened to. And if it has, which song.

The only Takamine I ever played was a 12 string and it played like a dream. The only reason I didnt but it was the price tag. You may want to look into Jasmine. It is the lower end brand by Takamine. I don`t know anything about them but they may be a cheaper alternative.

What about The Beatles. I don`t know if Let It Be is on dvd but I remember renting it in the 80s. Woodstock or The Song Remains The Same. I saw them on vhs. If they are on dvd, they are good choices. If you want just a silly story with good music, then the beatles in "HELP" is on dvd. A great movie that is a true story is "GRAND THEFT PARSONS". About the death of Gram Parsons. It`s funny, but it has only a few songs. One of those that seems hard to believe is true but it is.
