My niece brought my grandson, Casey, an Irish whistle she bought for him in the Emerald isle. It is made of metal and very loud. He loves it and plays it often. He learned the Spongebob theme and played it on his latest video blog.
I'm just as bad. I am obsessing on bass guitar since my buddy lent me a nice bass amp.
As a lifelong tuberist, I love to eminate low vibrations. My Fender jazz bass through this Crate amp "gits 'er done".

Here's a happy tune I would like to learn soon.

Right!

It's a similar question to: Am I a man or a boy? or Am I a woman or a girl? We can claim to be something but the final definition is for others to decide.
If people hear you and remember you as a guitarist, then you are. They may remember me as a sucky guitarist and I must live with that.
I played in bar bands for 20+ years but I will never be anything but a strummer like many chordians. My lead rides were memorized note-for-note and played the same every night. BORING!
Since technical excellence is beyond me, I concentrate on being an entertainer. I learn unusual and novel songs that people rarely or never hear. I found work as a guitar player by being able to add to a party, playing most requests, making people laugh or cry and therin leave a wonderful memory of a particular evening.
Remember, Elvis Presley was a mediocre guitar player. So was Johnny Cash.

Hi Pete,
I googled up an Eddy Arnold arrangement in key of C that is a much more comfortable key for an old codger like me than E (a young man's key).

http://www.classic-country-song-lyrics. … hords.html

You can add passing chords to the verse changes like C,Em,Am and G before the F change and maybe an Eb diminished after the F. Then C,Am,Dm and G before returning to C.
The bridge changes can be spiced up but also can go as written.
If you would like me to arrange this for you, I would be delighted. I'm retired. I have time.
Shoot me an e-mail, sir.

My wife, "Grammy" set out four bird feeders along our fence. She fills them with black sunflower seeds. We have red cardinals, blue jays, morning doves and of course the inevitable mocking birds aplenty. Problem is we have squirrels aplenty as well and they sit down in the feeders and eat until they're empty.
Grammy is a country girl and a dead shot. She always has a Daisy BB rifle loaded and ready by her favorite chair in our garage (rumpus room).
If a squirrel lingers too long at the feeder she puts one round into the wooden fence close by it's ear.
If that doesn't scare it off she can easily pop him in the booty. At that range a BB hit in the stern is not painful enough to keep them from coming right back.
It gives Grammy something to do besides mess with me.

I have played many Yamaha acoustics and they all fretted nicely and sounded good with a new set of strings.
My old Yamaha FG350W dreadnought is now my only acoustic guitar.
It sounds like this:

Cat Stevens has a lot of fine acoustic music. I have some of his tunes in my fat book. I worked out all his chords to "Morning Has Broken" but I believe they sound better on keyboard but they are playable on guitar.  I also have "Peace train","Father and Son", "Moon Shadow and others.I'll help if I can.
What tunes are you looking for?

Our band's first live C.D., "A Bonified Social Club"was with the origional trio of rhythm guitar, harmonica and tuba.
You guys are so right. Trio playing requires everyone to overplay big time to sound anywhere near full.
Our second C.D. "Magic Chair" we added three more players on lead guitar, steel drums and drum kit. So nice to back off and make room for the new players and so much fun listening to them playing along with us.

Good on ya, Doc. Find a way to make her smile. If playing guitar is still a little tricky, play her like the magnificent creation she is. You can impress her with your guitar chops later.

Auditioned last year at a restaraunt nearby for a one night a week gig. Manager told me "Mercury Blues" by the Steve Miller Band was a favorite of his. I found the song on U-Tube and learned it. I played it at our audition and we did not get hired. Haven't played it since. I must suck at it.

My guitars are old and I keep them in an air conditioned room. They seem to do fine in there.
The heat and humidity here in South Alabama are brutal.
I learned my lession when my old Yamaha dreadnought acoustic pickup died after too many sailing cruises in the hot salty air. I bought a Martin backpacker to sail with and my buddy lent me a plastic - backed Applause guitar we both use for a houseboat guitar.
Gotta take 'em out to play outside sometimes but they store in the cool dry room.

I had a brother in law who was German. The poor guy lived in the deep South and married a girl with a broad accent as well as a speech impediment. His English was a combination of broken German and American redneck. He would say things like " Look ovah yondah" nobody could understand.
Even worse, he was over here for so long that he began to think in his brand of English so much that when he met friends spreaking native German he could not recall enough German words fast enough to maintain a fluent level of conversation.

Many years ago, our cat chased a mouse into our pantry. I quickly shut the door on them both.
My wife insisted I "do something" about the mouse.
I said, "Let the cat do his job. It's our bedtime."
Our bedroom was on the other side of the wall next to the pantry. We lay in bed hearing the cat go "rowr" and the mouse would let out this long "screeeeeeeem". Another "rowr" and another "screeeeeem' - this went on and on so long my lady insisted I "do something". I couldn't sleep either so I got my hammer and "did" the mouse. The cat was really mad at me for a long time. Sometimes you can't win.

I loved this one:
"Yes, this is my truck.
No, I won't help you move."

A musician friend of mine wrote a song entitled:
"I don't brake for poodles"
and has a bumper sticker on his car with the same message.

I knew a married couple in the military. He was from Brooklyn, New York - she was from Rome, Georgia. Each one's accent made the other laugh early and often.
I am from Alabama via the midwest. My wife is from South Carolina. Her accent is delightful but sometimes funny. I can do her and her sister's speech pattern well after all these years.
They always say, "Don't mawk me." but I can't help it.
