A circle within a spiral within a wheel? As Mr Ian Anderson said. There are thousands of Chordie members but how many can be bothered to join in our conversations? Just let it be known; I enjoy your video...power to the people.

Here we go again, after black Friday it's grey Saturday and not a single post on Chordie! So...it's cold it's grey it's wet and worst of all it's winter. It's too early to get the guitar out and it's too late to go back to bed. Nothing left to do but watch TV...latas

Thanks Jim, and of course Ann and I wish your good self and your wonderful family the same. We don't actually celebrate Thanksgiving over here but most of us respect other people's beliefs and holidays, so we wish you the best. Enjoy my friend.

Jim, I can imagine your students and team members enjoying and feeling motivated by your speeches and lectures. Do you tell them about your music and play them some or tell them how to find your songs?

Yep, it's so annoying when you see all the adulation given to some of today's stars when the band you saw last night were so much better, musically, vocally and harmonically, not playing to backing tracks or in some cases miming...like that old ad says, you can't sing. You can't dance... you'll go far!
I miss playing with bands. Having someone to share the good, bad and carrying the gear. And the driving home...

i know we have members that are or were performers whether it be in bands/groups, duos, church bands, solo musicians or doing concerts with their students.
well thing is, over the years i've done a lot of gigs, some good some not so good and occasionally some that really lifted the spirits. and that's the reason for this post; you do your gig and at the end you get a rousing ovation and calls for more. people come up and say that's the best show they've seen in years and the offer of lots of follow-up gigs and you go home on a high (not chemical!!!)
next morning you wake up and life is just as it was 24 hours earlier, mundane stuff to do like vacuuming, washing the dishes etc. you come down to earth with a bump, reality sets in.
anyone else share this experience?

Quite a whistful little song Jim, if that's the right term? I haven't the time to give it a strum yet and I wonder how you do the frazing? There must be a recording coming up?

I believe this is called TAB or tablature. I don't/cant use it myself so I hoped one of our more savvy members would have helped, but we don't get many views at weekends as a rule. I hope this helps?

My brother gave me a lecture on how "street poet of the modern age" EMINEM, (hope I've spelt that right...honest lol) is and he's around 10 years my junior. My daughter who's nearly 40 loves Neil Sedaka, the Carpenters and Bon Jovi...what an eclectic mix, she also likes more modern stuff. I often sing "Baby shark" with my granddaughter, mainly because it annoys everyone!
Remember what Townsend said " hope I die before I get old" he's not saying that now, I bet

You're so right Grah. Some time back I was carrying my gear into hotel while this guy was nailing Pink Floyds "wish you were here" to a small crowd . When I started playing the same old same old, to a full house I had to ask why weren't they outside enjoying this brilliant guitarist? All I got were blank looks and shoulder shrugs. No accounting for taste.

strange question. Ann and I are both 68 and we go to a local (working mens) club on Sunday nights to see a show and play the obligatory bingo.
Strange as it may sound but we are about the youngest there most are in their 70's or 80's but don't really act their age.
Now I like to wear jeans and tee shirt whereas most of the men like to wear baggy cream trousers, or what I call old mens drawers! They also like the background music before bingo and the act up loud. I don't mind that even though it's overpowering the conversation and they'll turn off decent music e.g the Eagles and put on Engelbert Humperdinck or Frank Sinatra....it's enough to drive one to drink, lucky then it's a drinking club and they have a well stocked bar, and the barman also plays guitar and we jam on occasion. The old crumblies moan like old trees when they see a guitarist set their gear up. That's the fun part.
So, does that make me an ageist?

Glad to hear it. Stay safe

I had a smile on my chops all the way through that, nice one. Great sound with the band. That fire dancer looked a bit dangerous. Was the drum player a punter or a mate?
Thanks for posting. Enjoyed it.
Even though I hate raki...lol

Hi Jim. Oh yes and some of us have difficulty not yielding to temptation! That situation is going backwards, things may look good in retrospect, we tend to remember the good times but it's because of the bad times we split up. And that's what I tell myself in those situations. Told myself, those days are long gone.lol

Thanks Grah. The chorus isn't that big in my original recording. In actual fact it's the flanger I added during the mix and conversion to MP3.
I write all my songs on acoustic, they only become electric during the recording process. As I said...that is a cut down version more or less live. Bass, drums and keyboard added later. I may upload that at a later date.
Thanks for listening and commenting.
How are things with you up north? Hope you're not in the floods?

Hi Peatle, thanks. It is a made up story, to an extent! Both party's want to and don't want to, it's how my mind works.ha ha! The new boyfriend outside in the car adds to the tension and was just that, a kinda afterthought.
Thanks for the listen and the comment.

i haven't put up a new song for a good while and i like this one i wrote this month. i hope my chordie friends will have a listen and give their honest opinion? it's a stripped down version, just guitar and vocal and about the question we all ask when our relationship has ended; just once more for old times sake?

One hell of a mix there my friend; proverbs, sayings and biblical quotes!!! All mixed up with a raunchy, punk rock beat....total metalizer.
There is still some bile in your writing and I sense some regret? It works great. When will you be putting it on SoundCloud?

i hope you'll let us know how you get on?
a little wisdom from an old rocker; there are all size venues, big to small and medium. the bigger the equipment you get the better really. you can always turn down a 100 watt Pa for a small gig, but you cant turn up a 10 watt pa for a larger room.

Beautiful lament Jeff. On a brighter note, last Saturday I met an old school friend, yeah 50 years after finishing school! We talked and he told me about another of our school mates that has passed away. It got me to thinking of friends I've made and lost in my short 68 years. They tell you that life is short so make the most of it then they demand taxes!
Sorry for your loss my friend.

PS, great recording.

yes my dear friend, i fully understand that. but the rule is; no politics and no religion, you might get away with it but i may get into trouble!

i have views on my government which i must keep to myself as Graham does very well, he just puts his thoughts on youtube, or soundcloud or somesuch. i wasn't being snippy as i said your punk/poetry is a fine piece of work and a great opening discussion on those in power in general. but i must keep out of that unless you want to email me and we'll run our respective governments down to our hearts content.
